mythic was also made to have confusing cards not show up in limited as much and I think goyf fits that.
Noble Hierarch was around the price snappy is now when she was reprinted at rare. I have a feeling snap will be a rare but I wouldn't be surprised to see him at mythic.
It says "representing everything from Eighth Edition through Magic 2014–including trips through Innistrad and Return to Ravnica."
To me that says every set beginning with 8E and ending with M14 potentially has cards in it, not just the core sets and INN + RTR blocks. I think they called out those two specifically because they haven't had reprints in Modern Masters yet, so they can get hype just from potential Liliana of the Veil/Snapcaster Mage/Abrupt Decay/Voice of Resurgence/etc. reprints.
There's nothing mythic about Snapcaster Mage. It's just a very good card.
There's nothing mythic about Tarmogoyf either, and yet it is. We saw plenty of cards in EMA be bumped up in rarity only because of price and Snapcaster fits that. I can only hope Snapcaster isn't mythic, but it seems so much better to expect the worst case scenario than hope for the best.
Well maybe Tarmogoyf would have been mythic if the rarity existed to that point of time. There is a chance Snapcaster could stay rare like Noble Hierarch did. Regardless of the rarity: I wonder how insane it would be to not even reprint it at all in this very set.
Tarmogoyf was never intended to be the best creature of all time, throughout design it cost 1GG, someone messed up near the end of development and listed the wrong CC as it went to the printer. It was just supposed to be a bad bulk rare to hype the Planeswalker card type debuting in the next block. But you know mistakes are made all the time, history is history, WotC can't just print money and stick them in packs.
Anyway, as an exclusively MTGO Modern player I hope Golgari Grave-Troll is in this set.

Masterpieces kind of prove that they can, not to mention the Masters sets are basically made to reprint expensive cards (also FTV.)
What? No. You guys have misunderstood Mythic rarity.
A mythic rare is a rare with a mythic feeling. And what is a mythic feeling? Think huge Dragons, Planeswalkers, legendary creatures, cards that do something never seen before.
Snapcaster Mage falls out of all the above chategories. Snapcaster is a really good card that does something we've seen many times before and thus it was not mythic when it was printed. Tarmogoyf never had a chance to be mythic, because it was printed in Time Spiral block and mythic rare was introduced in Shards of Alara. Tarmogoyf does something no other card has done before and as such CAN be justified as a mythic although it isn't shiny or cool at all.
Vengevine and Voice of Resurgence was also somewhat of a stretch but they did something completely unique.
Mythic rare does not just belong to bad Timmy rares. It is a marker put on various cards for the same reasons a card would get marked rare instead of uncommon. It can be because it is big and splashy. It can be because of expected secondary market value. It can be because of complexity. It can be because of player resonance. It can be just because. And power level can definitely be in it too. If you think its all splashy weird stuff, you weren't paying attention to Alara at all.

I am trying to get better at making decks. I have had trouble creating more competitive decks as I only really build with the cards I have. I dont have that many value cards, in function or expense. I (almost) never play at FNM type events so its not like im playing against $2k decks. If I do usally play at one, Its a draft or limited game. Any advice on building decks is greatly supported! DMs are appreciated.

Here's a joke! Whats the internal temperature of a Taun-Taun?
They also showed us the math and promised mythic rare cards wouldn't be any more rare than rare cards.
If I'm remembering the same math you're suggesting, what they were illustrating is that mythics from that point forward would be about as rare as rare cards were in a lot of earlier sets, not that they'd be as rare as other rares from that point forward (if that were true... they'd just be rares with a different symbol color?). Necropotence was in 1 of every 121 Ice Age packs. Nonfoil Chandra, Torch of Defiance is in 1 of every 121 Kaladesh packs.
All chase mythics/Rares aside, there's a ton of other solid Rares/Mythics that have decent price tags and/or haven't seen print in awhile that I'm hoping we might see in this set.
It's a great card to print at mythic because it wrecks limited and it's in dire need of a reprint.
It holds a decent price because of casual and offbeat competitive demand but therein lies the rub. Do they include this to boost EV even though the price will plummet once it finally sees a reprint?

Yes, yes they should. Masters sets have been, for the most part, disappointing and terrible, because they didn't want to print enough, but as Conspriacy hopefully taught Wizards is that there wasn't much, if any, complaining as we saw Show and Tell drop from $50 to $15, not to mention Berserk. They should be reprinting as much as they can, and this next Masters set better have some quality to it, because Conspiracy has been doing the job of the Masters product line even better.
Surprised noone threw out the typical "Damnation reprint!".
At this point people are so jaded that no one is holding their breath anymore. WotC knows they can get more press and more pre-sales by tempting people with the possibility of damnation than they ever could by actually reprinting it.
It might be a Masterpiece-rare card in the next year, depending on how they go about it.

The cool thing would be to have LotV, Snappy, Damnation & co as Masterpieces in MM17. I'm sure people would still bite and buy the set.

Pretty much this. Damnation has been skipped over about 5 times for reprints and people just can't expect it anymore, although they secretly hope still.
I don't think Masters sets will have Masterpieces, although I could be wrong.
I really hate that we can't get a reprint set without somebody mentioning the Zen fetches. We're crying about "cash grabs" and rarity shifts like wotc is our friend or something. Reprinting every card that's expensive just to bring down the price is bad for the community. Drive down the prices too much and you kill the secondary market. While that doesn't directly hurt wotc, it would eventually lead to lack of sales. Once everyone has everything they need, there isn't a whole lot of reason to keep buying. I understand magic is a game, but it's also big money.

I wouldn't worry too much about the price of Zen fetches if they were in here anyways. The set is going to be so limited that their price will barely drop, and if they drop by any sort of significant amount then it won't be long until they are back to what they were previously.
The way WoTC has been handling Masters sets I highly doubt they learn their lessons about it. Be more prepared for let down #3 in the Masters line.

I could see that if you opened a lot of Kamigawa Dragons. For me, MM1 was easily the best Masters set so far, with value sprinkled across all rarities. Even when I did get stuck with dragons, they brought gifts with them- I got Jugen in packs twice, once with foil Cliq and once with foil SoFaI as compensation : )
MM2 was a huge step back, as if WoC wanted to see how crappy a MM set could get before we stop buying it. It is still widely avaialable in shops around me today. EMA was a step in the right direction, but I want MM3 to return us to the glory days of MM1.

There's a huge difference between "printing enough to satisfy market demand" and "printing so many that the secondary market dissolves". Wizards can't even get to that first plateau with the Masters sets by hamstringing them with incredibly limited print runs that create more demand than the supply they sate (if you want proof, just look at tarmogoyf, whose price has spiked with each MM printing thus far.)
The ZEN fetches do need a reprint because their supply is so grossly overwhelmed by demand. But the Masters sets is the worst place to put them, because it will create a huge amount more demand and add almost no supply.

MM1 did have issues, yes, but I can exclude it from the list because it was the first try for something like this, so you are bound to make mistakes with it. MM2 and EMA are easily mistakes as neither of them truly learned from the last one. Sure they may have done a thing or two better, like MM2 had great availability but barely any cards worth the time and EMA had slightly better cards but had ***** availability.
Almost certainly- that and Abrupt Decay would be the most needed cards from RTR block.
On another note- March 17? WTF?
That's really early,
and it seems unwise to compete with St. Patty's Day festivities.
Unwise.... or AWESOME?

The list for mythics practically makes itself this time around.
White - Avacyn/Linvala (at least I can only hope for Linvala)
Blue - Iono maybe Temporal Mastery?/Snapcaster Mage (we can all hope it will be rare, but I think we know better that they'll make it mythic.)
Black - Lily V (obviously)/Griselbrand/Phyrexian Obliterator
Red - Bonfire of the Damned/Past in Flames/Balefire Dragon(?)
Green - Tarmogoyf (it has to until its price is below $75)/ Craterhoof Behemoth
Multicolor - Voice of Resurgence/Sphinx's Revelation/Progenitor Mimic
Artifact - Crucible of Worlds (at least it better be)/ Iono Elbrus, the Binding Blade?/One of the swords?
Rares are a bit easier this time, at least just by counting Innistrad/RTR blocks. Things like Abrupt Decay, Grafdigger's Cage, Blashphemous Act, Cavern of Souls, Parallel Lives, and many others like that.
