I think people need to look 2 years into the future when calling for this being the last set, the wave goodbye to Modern.
1. Modern is the most viewer friendly, brewer friendly, and varied, competitive format. It gets more views than Standard on Day 2 for an SCG Open, than Standard Wizards Top 8s.
2. This is making the format more accessible, in the short short term. Look around, other things not expected to be in this set are bought out now.
3. In 2 years, those things in item 2? yeah those will need a reprint, as well as stuff from Theros to Khans.
4. Modern sells itself. It doesnt need Wizards help, because its self promotional. Its simply that good a format, but this set? Thats all the promotion it will need to keep it on the forefront for a year and a bit...till next Modern Masters.
I agree. Not supporting modern is not supporting a source of income for wizards. If a format was going to be waved away and not supported, I'd anticipate Legacy/Vintage formats. And yet Eternal Masters.
Actually the MSRP is set for two main reasons. One they are hurting the bottom line on their most valuable assets, Magic's long term success has more or less been because of their products collectabuility. That's also the reason for the short print run. They made a mistake way back by overprinting Chronicles witch led to this thing called the "Reserved Lists" you may have heard of. The second major and most important reason for the high MSRP is to disincentives people from straight up cracking packs and boxes. The master's series in terms of unopened boxes and packs is to create a special draft format for experienced players with the upside of introducing staples into the secondary market. If you are looking for something specific from Modern Masters you are most likely better off buying singles as was intended.

People are misinterpreting what others are saying when they say this is the last modern masters set. It's not that they are going to stop reprinting for modern, but the way they are going to do it going forward will change. It seems very likely Wizards is going to change their business model to become less dependant on investors stabilizing the secondary market. They also have shown signs of wanting to move to a new non-rotating format so as to cash in on their learning from Modern and to have a format that emphasizes the new unified storyline.
So what lessons are there to take from modern? Waaaaaay to many to count. The designers got to experiment with a ton of various ideas like equipment and planeswalkers along with inventing a classification system for abilities they can practically codify. They know what worked well and didn't work well (phyrexian mana, suspend, equipment, etc)...
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Was contemplating buying a 3rd box today as they were still under $210 before I went to sleep. That ship has sailed. Tarmogoyf lag didn't catch up until afternoon today it looks like. We're on the edge of full blown MSRP at the moment.

I find this all so strange. We practically have the entire set but won't get to play with it for another two weeks? It feels like spoilers came a wee early.

As someone who watches wrestling and has seen this particular version of Vince used in gifs before, I must say, this cut together gif was far too perfect, hahaha. That basically covers what I think most people have thought about this set as it was being spoiled. First the Wow with the Fetches and Damnation, then other good stuff like goblin guide, and then snapcaster (even if it is mythic), and Liliana, and then the floodgates opened with voice, blood moon, cavern, and goyf. I was just talking with someone about the value in the set, and it really is rather crazy. If the print run truly is solidly greater than Modern Masters 2015, then I really must call a home run for wizards with this set. Hopefully we still get a few more decent cards out of the last 20 rares still left to be spoiled in the set, along with a smattering of other good uncommons/commons to finish things out. Looking forward to seeing the final list when it comes. (That said, still several cards from the higher end of modern valuations (some caused more recently) that have already been confirmed out, which is unfortunate, but more fodder for the next modern masters for sure, hopefully none of those confirmed out get too crazy in the meantime....
With the whole set coming out tomorrow I wouldn't hold my breath for anything else spectacular. Therefore I'm doubtful on Noble Hierarch, Chalice/Crucible and other high dollar rares that people are looking for.
But its fine, I'm fairly certain my preorder price point are almost guaranteed to make me money. Only question is, should I open them for value, or try and flip them for a quick 50ish bucks?
Also, I find it funny how I'd rather open a box with 1 or no mythics instead of 3 or 4. Want more chances at fetches/damnation lol

Don't bet on it the hierarch fits the bill for this set.

I don't think Thalia 1.0 is going to be in... with a heavy multicolor focus, each color is probably going to get 6 rares and we've already seen 6 white ones.
Boros Charm is a lock. One charm has already been spoiled (I think Izzet) so it stands to reason all ten will be in.
I really thought Noble Hierarch would be in because of a recent price dip, but think if we were going to get her she already would have been spoiled. Birds of Paradise is probably more likely.
All 10 Charms I would not count on to be a lock; that would be like saying that all 10 Paruns are locks at rare because Niv-Mizzet was spoiled. (although Trostani makes a lot of sense)
I would probably consider Boros Charm as a lock if it did not show up in C16...and even then I think it is likely to show up.

To be fair full spoilers usually come out 2 weeks before a set's release. It just feels extra long because Masters Sets don't have Pre-releases (wouldn't mind if they had though )

More like 6-7 and 2.

Hierarch is safe not bob
David Ochoa: "Mono-bacon!..."
To clarify, Noble is "safe" as in "not ruled out." It may or may not be in the set. Bob is confirmed not in this one.
