it would be nice if they made Desert basic land cards (I know its already a land) just like Wastes. and just call it something else.
That would be horrific. And even without being basic lands I doubt we'd see a Desert reprint due to WotC looking unfavourably upon "archers" as a mechanic over the last few years for mucking up combat math.
4.-Yes, I know that Haunt is rare to reprint but really if is flavoured ca be (like Madness in IND) and Blessing/Curse of Gods can take this form , only need to fix that work like an effect added (Ex: Creature Haunted gains flying) than old ETB + ExitTB triggered ability (Ex: Old Blind Hunter Drain lives)
I put this mechanic into We Make the Set: Aegis, back in 2008 or something?
Think of text like "Defender. Haunt. Haunted creature has Defender"
I would be very thrilled if Haunt makes a return, but I think bestow took this design space.
Malach of the Dawn is a color-shifted Ghost Ship and so is less likely to see a reprint than a card from Future Sight. The card also uses regenerate, which has fallen out of favor and was printed before development on an Egyptian set began, cf. the Bolas horns on Vengeful Pharaoh. I could see a similar half-man with eagle wings flying around, though.
Running challengers through a deadly gauntlet would be a good way for Bolas to discover a Planeswalker among the chaff and use them as agents for his nefarious ends.

Could have waited a little for this announcement, totally distracted now
I feel like timing of this announcement really killed excitement for Kaladesh, but I still think it will be cool. I would have waited until at least after Kaladesh was out to spoil this block though
If there are gods in card form (which seems highly likely) I doubt that something like devotion would be used. I would expect five mono-colored gods, almost certainly indestructible, not always creatures, and likely enchantments (as that's the simplest way to turn a creature off but have it remain on the board).
Something like
Death God Who Definitely Isn't Anubis3BB
Legendary Creature Enchantment- Hound God
Indestructible
Unless another creature has died this turn, ~ isn't a creature.
Whenever another nontoken creature dies you may exile it. If you do, draw 1 card and gain 1 life.
5/11
But then again, that may be too similar to Theros gods.
I feel it would be cool to have Gods require certain amount of things in a turn to become creatures for the turn. Or have a non-devotion requirement to become creatures, like maybe have X creatures in your GY or something like that. That way you'd probably have to build around them

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

I know, I know, yet it still feels "at home" there given the art.
Makes me wonder if we will see some other kind of "angel" related possibly to the white alligned god.
In anciet Egypt the goddess Maat was often represented as a woman with bird wings (arguably the inspiration for the early representations of humanoid angels) and standing to her wiki page, she represented truth, balance, order, harmony, law, morality, and justice... Perfect embodiment of white mana
Yet in a plane controlled by Bolas, something like that would have a very short life indeed... Or would be twisted into an evil reflection of itself.
Well...
May be another plane without angels
I hope Kaladesh has them. Innistrad was not a good Angel place.

well my original post was calling out someone who was mocking quite a large portion of people over the EMN mystery from months ago, well after everything was said and done. So yes, my stance usually is pretty aggressive toward things I see as unnecessary bullying, but then I was acting just as rude to you when you commented, which negates my whole stance, so I apologize for that. I didn't consider that you could see all the information when you wrote it and had to go back and re click the link.

Angels are popular, so they may get included, but I don't feel like they really fit very well into the ancient Egyptian aesthetic.
Everything in Egyptian mythology gets tricky: I've always read of Maat as more of a concept of cosmic order that does't really translate to modern sensibilities, but apparently she was also personified as a goddess in her own right. Isis is perhaps the more famous Egyptian winged goddess, and there's a lot of crossover between the two, although I had never heard of Maat personified. Any time someone knows something about Egyptian mythology that conflicts with what you know, both are probably right, since the religion was practiced for centuries upon centuries in varying forms, and under different God-Kings. Anything any of us know is a tiny sliver of something with a lot of versions, which gives R&D a little wiggle room. Nicol Bolas seems like an obvious Amon Ra (the version of Ra where he is king of the gods).
A god based on Isis (or Maat) would make perfect sense in W, or UW, and I could see her having some group of angels, and being the "good guy" of the story. But, I think people are a lot more excited for animal-headed gods than winged women.
Also, if we have animal headed gods, I really want the animal to be in the type text. Crocodile God is totally different than God. Legendary Enchantment Creature- Crocodile God (plus the expansion symbol) is a ton of text for a little line, but if they cut the animal type, I'm going to have some harsh words to share with the internet about it.

That's what they did in Theros. We didn't get Mogis as a Minotaur God (think it was Mogis), or his brother as a Centaur God, we got just plain God's. Those two are the most obvious examples. That and, if they're enchantments, the space is pretty limited with Legendary Enchantment Creature. Maybe they could fit it with some, but I don't think they'd want to do that for one and not all of them.
Also given how important Isis and Maat are to Egyptian mythology, it would bother me a lot more if they didn't include at least one of them in some way or another. I don't know quite how they'll fit everything in to only five gods, likely they'll just center it around the Osiris chunk of things, but I'm really curious to see what they do.
ah good a plane that will return to traps, curses, mummies, Quicksand, Desert and Desert Twister reprint. Also with a possable form of devotion.
All lf those, plus the God creature type I'd expect to see in an Egytion block. Knowing how things go, we'll probably get only one or two of those, if any.

Desert Twister isn't going to happen as it does something that no color should be able to do on their own. Now, a two-colored Desert Twister expy is quite likely, probably either green/black or white/black.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
Either the five gods are just plain monocolor or... they're going for something really crazy: hybrid gods. 'Anubis' I could easily see as the embodiment of light and darkness, making him the white and black god. We all expect enemy colored dual lands in kaladesh, but if it weren't for that then I'd be THAT guy calling enemy fetches in amonkhet.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
-Bestow is reversed mode of Haunt (If make only in creatures) because.
B---Is a Aura and when die the target become a creature.
H---Is a Creature and when die, become a Aura.
Haunt doesn't become an Aura. That's why it's such a wonky mechanic that most players dislike. It's effectively an aura, but it isn't. It's in exile, and there are few ways to deal with it (BFZ's processing Eldrazi can, now, but they didn't exist before)

Rose tint my world, keep me safe from my trouble and pain.
You guys remember that one time on this forum 5 years ago when someone speculated that an Egyptian themed set would be possible and used the card Vengeful Pharaoh as an example for his logic? Then the mod shut him down saying his ideas were not helpful, "what if's" weren't helpful, and Vengeful Pharaoh actually confirmed there would NOT be an Egyptian themed set? Then they moved his post from the Speculation thread to the Sub-Speculation thread. It happened here on this forum but in the sub-speculation thread in the speculation thread aka The Rumor Mill - Speculation. Here's the link in case you missed this piece of gold. It just goes to show when you stifle creativity with censorship you breed in stagnation. Luckily, the FB forum I spend my time in these days allows "what if's" and encourages creative discussions. Reminds me why I stopped posting in this forum but I HAD to share with you all this rich comedy. Come join our creative discussion on FB!
The mod said "coming soon," which you conveniently left out. Guess what, 5 years ISN'T soon. It wasn't "gold," the mod did nothing wrong, and you have made no point. You aren't doing your group any favors; you're hurting it.

Yup, sure is funny how one person joined hundreds of other MtG players in speculating about an Egypt plane, only for WotC to make an Egypt plane years later. Ha ha! That hindsight sure is 20/20! And it's quite the humdinger how he put the thread in the wrong forum. How droll! And then it's absolutely hilarious how a mod decided to shut it down just because everyone had already talked themselves half to death about a hypothetical Egypt plane in other abandoned threads, and there wasn't much more to say. Oh, those wacky mods! What will they do next? The most humorous part is how your Facebook group is so much better than MTGS, because it has people like you, who love rubbing their perceived superiority in people's faces. Hah! Your pettiness is a laugh riot!
Edit: also did you notice I've been on this forum for 9 years but have only posted 46 times? You seem new here by comparison so you may not know all the goings on here. Give it a few years (say 5) and then you'll get a better understanding of where I'm coming from, soon you'll understand too.
One of my first posts got me a warning from a mod. I actually was so annoyed, I didn't post here for a year or two. I was wrong and immature. So are you. Here's some advice for you: "Give it a few years (say 5) and then you'll get a better understanding of where I'm coming from, soon you'll understand too."
About half my posts have received warnings for absolutely ridiculous things. I was just talking about the game but not exactly the way MTGS wanted me to do it. I'd wait a year or two until I thought I better understood the rules only to find there were way too many rules or new rules and I'd break some obscure rule again. The point of my post is if there are too many rules, too much censorship then creativity is stifled. If I'm spending all my brain juices trying to figure out if this post is new enough, my comment adheres to all the rules of the place the comment is taking place in, I'm commenting in exactly the correct spot (or else), and on and on then I use fewer brain juices thinking about actual relevant things I'm trying to even post about. In fact, I've been so paranoid about it these last few years (literally about 5), my last few posts have been focused almost exclusively on the rules and not the content. Again I think it would be really cool if we had Artifact Creature Gods but I'm not even sure if this is the right place to post it. It's in the Rumor Mill regarding the Amonkhet set but I still don't know if this is the right place to talk about it because it's more of a "what if" scenario and not speculation whatever that actually means here. I want to bet you I'm doing this wrong but betting is probably against the rules here so uh yeah not doing that. So what do you all think? Will there be Legendary Artfact Creature - Gods? Will they have a color identity? What do you all think?
Edit: I even changed my profile pic to an image of a troll with a circle and slash through it to imply I'm not trying to troll but somehow that comes across as trolling. It's literally a paradox.
I think "Legendary Artifact Creature — God" could be interesting. I'd be all for 3 color, 4 color, or hybrid Enchantment ones too. I just want them to be very different than the ones from Theros block.
"Eventually" is pretty different from "We currently have plans to do that soon". WotC typically works ~five years in advance, so when Vengeful Pharaoh was printed, Amonkhet wouldn't have even been in the brainstorming stages yet. Especially when you consider the fact that, when M12 came out, we were still in the 3-set block paradigm, so Amonkhet would've been destined to come out in fall of 2018. That's way further in advance than WotC designs sets. So yeah, Vengeful Pharaoh was indicative of nothing.
I'm not trying to disrespect the users of this site.
Whether you intended to or not, you did. If you hate it here so much, either make suggestions on how to improve things, or just leave. Don't pop in every few months to tell the mods they suck, and brag about how awesome your Facebook buddies are. If you don't like MTGS, and you're not here to offer constructive comments on how to make it better, then what are you doing here, except disrespecting us?
