I think they are making magic more like Hearthstone because they see that the market is out there for this kind of games.
Yeah, how? How are they "making magic more like Hearthstone"?
I don't see how it's becoming now but I could see how the game may evolve for the better when they put more emphasis on online. While I don't exactly see it as daunting keeping track of things like delirium is easier on duels and having more complicated things like casting a random card like in hearthstone could open up a more complex and fun gameplay.
Casual refers to playing Magic: The Gathering without an attempt to enter a DCI-sanctioned tournament. Casual players, making up a significant majority of the customer base for the game, are generally more concerned about having fun than winning.
I think casual probably is the largest source of money. I think wizards knows where their money comes from. They have all the market research after all

Oh I never meant that they don't get a significant amount of money from casual players of magic by that definition. I'm referring to casual vs enfranchised on more of a "how much does this person spend?" and not what formats they play. Someone by the definition on the wiki who is casual could still be spending insane amounts of money on card products. I'm not really sure how else to label someone who spends less money because their interest is simply on "I like to play magic once a moon and maybe go to Pre-release" to "I go to FNM every day and watch the prices on cards to make sure I snipe the best deals".
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
I am waiting for another thread like this that will explain the current future of magic and of standard sets.
MaRo's State of Magic Design article happens once a year. You're unlikely to see anything until around the time of whatever set is after Hour of Destruction.

Yeah, but still waiting for next part this summer.
Late Summer. It'll be the end of August before the next one happens.
Return trips are a lot less exciting when done so frequently. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm freakin' tired of Zendikar and Innistrad already. Both felt like they were too soon, especially Innistrad. This whole year left me anticipating Kaladesh with a particular fervor. I just need something new, something interesting. For me, WotC going back to the well so frequently has resulted in a case of diminishing returns.
Too soon? Zen was 2009 and BFZ was 2016 thats seven years.
Inn to soi was five years.
How is half a decade plus "too soon?"
I think he means new Innistrad being so soon after new Zendikar. I know I felt the same. Just feels like "we're running out of ideas here's a set everyone loved again please buy our products".
Also the Eldrazi completely trashed Zendikar and Innistrad, which used to be among everyone's favorite Planes. Having your favorite toys twisted into barely recognizable Wastes in back to back blocks was hard on some people.
At least they "sort of" made things better with innistrad by doing a Shadows over Innsmouth direction. Still, I'd have taken Marit Lage over more Eldrazi overlords. They basically killed Innistrad with that damn eldrazi invasion.
