I don't recall what the ratio was between new and old cards the first time around, but does this feel way more like a Masters set than a new one to anyone besides me? Granted, we got quite a few really good reprints, but at the cost of how many new cards? The common and uncommon slots feel really stuffed with unnecessary filler reprints instead of new world building cards, and there are a LOT of rares and mythics that are not at all new. Like, sure Avatar of Woe is significantly better in multiplayer, but couldn't we have had a cool new black mythic instead (and not just the draft matters demon)?

Maybe the cards are so good in this set to compensate for all the draft-matters cards that are worthless in all constructed formats.
Pretty nice set, over all. Had a lot of chaff reprints, but some really great reprints for Commander players and a few Modern staples that needed reprints forever ago (IoK shouldn't have been rare though). Top it off with some extremely powerful new Commander bombs, a couple of new powerful generals and two cool new Planeswalkers. Good stuff. Wish they didn't go with the bad art for Beast Within and Arena though. Wanted cheaper foil copies of the art I like for my EDH.
I was kind of thinking there would be one nice surprise left, like something that hasn't seen reprint for quite some time even if it wasn't expensive.
In the end I must say that this is the first set in a long time that I have not had many problems with. In fact I would say this is the best set we've had in a long time. This is probably the best reprint set since Modern Masters and this kicks the absolute ***** out of MM2 and EMA. Even with all of the draft cards being useless outside of Cube and Draft this set gave us a lot of great reprints and quite a few great new cards and plenty of decent new ones too.
I can only hope this is Wizards learning more about how to reprint cards and to satisfy the current extreme demand that all players are clamoring for. I await for MM3 to see if they have learned from this and from EMA, which did not live up to what it should have done. If this is the turning point we are all hoping for then I look forward to seeing what Kaladesh, the new Intro Packs, and as always Commander and what new things we'll get in the final quarter of this year.
Good job Wizards on a great set, but please don't take steps back after making a step forward for a change.
In a multiplayer limited setting, single target removal is good but not format defining, so Murder at common is OK here. Infest, OTOH, I could imagine causing a lot of groans around the table.
Were you really expecting a huge difference from last time?
And while the ratio may be about the same,
this time we got new cards like Sanctum Prelate, which is better than any of the new cards in CNS1,
and we got reprints like Berserk, which is better than any of the reprints in CNS1.
If you aren't happy with CNS2,
you didn't have realistic expectations for CNS2.

Really impressed with this set, lot's of new cards that are really fun for EDH, some nice reprints, and the draft format looks insanely fun and improved on from CNS1. Huge win from me look forward to drafting this set a ton.
I feel like there was just too much junk printed at the rare and mythic rare slots. There could have easily been better reprints. At common and uncommon again too many junk reprints that no one cares about that could have been better reprinted cards, down shifted rare to uncommon cards, or more story line based cards. Why the F******** is avatar of woe a black mythic rare?! Where is damnation? Another wasted mythic rare slot is platinum angel.
The cards aimed to sell the set are show and tell , berserk , serum visions , and Inquisition of Kozilek which should NOT be a rare. While there are other cards that hold some value those were the stand outs. I give the set a 4/10 for reprints. 6/10 for drafting fun. There are just way too many junk rare reprints that are worth very little, that leave you thinking !!!!negative thoughts!!!! when you open a booster pack.
I would have much rather seen new cards over junk being printed. I'm impressed with there two mythic reprints but it's not enough to sell me a booster box. There are many possible rares out there wizards of the coast that hold a value over $4 that could have been included in your new remix on the core set. Especially nice were are talking about all cards available to be printed from all magic sets ever. I'd have to say that the worth more than $4 reprint bar is set super low for cards at rare or above. Stop reprinting Hamletback Goliath no one cares!
Back in the EMA previews, I'd be nodding right along with these kind of comments. The whole purpose of that set was to ease access to some high-value reprints, and in that context junk mythics and upjumped rarities were legitimately earned complaints.
Conspiracy, however, is NOT EMA. The purpose of this set is not to print a ton of value cards, it's to enable some awesome casual multiplayer draft games. Know some cards that are fun and/or powerful in casual multiplayer? Charmbreaker Devils, Covenant of Minds, Faith's Reward, Wild Pair, and Hamletback Goliath, all rares I'd love to see in my draft. What's more, Platinum Angel and Avatar of Woe are "kill me or die"-caliber threats in a multiplayer game - well fitting mythic rarity. I'd be THRILLED to open either. This set is incredibly well set-up to do what it's aimed to do, and you can't ask for more than that.
If you're going to complain about value-less rares and mythics, why ignore the elephant in the room: Conspiracies and draft-only cards, now at mythic! Once the draft is done, those might as well be blank bits of cardboard (short of making cubes, of course).
Finally, to show that I'm being fair, I agree wholeheartedly on your IoK comment. It's a terrible multiplayer card, and makes no sense as a rare. That is for sure a shameless money grab
My only gripe with the set is where are the construct that affect draft? They were and continue to be awesome drafting. That said, the rest of the set far far exceeded my expectations.

The only "miss" of this set is Inquisition at rare - and even then just because it makes no sense in a set designed to be played in 4 player multiplayer games and the average CMC of the "good" cards takes most of them out of Inquisition range. It could easily have been an uncommon.
Otherwise, the set looks fantastic. The world of Fiora is a little more bland this time (all of the interesting artifacts are gone, etc) but that is a small price to pay for some actual reprints and even a few new viable cards in older formats.
I'm a smidge disappointed they didn't use this opportunity to give something like the enemy checklands a much needed reprinting, but there's so many other great cards that I'm definitely in for several packs worth (or a whole box if I can swing it).
Is this a print to demand product? How long was the original Conspiracy kept in print?

In the story, they closed the Academy and banned cogwork from the streets. Not sure what the story reason is exactly here, but I think the brand idea is to differentiate it better from Kaladesh, which is taking the steampunky flavor for itself.

Well, the thing about those Conspiracy and Draft Only cards is that they take the basic land slot, so it won't disrupt your ability to pull any of the standard mythics.

Kinda wish there was more of the Goad mechanic. That mechanic is awesome in my meta of mostly aggro. Everyone go attack! But attack someone else.
The money cards are purely in the rares/mythics. I kinda wish they printed some better uncommons/commons. If it was just IoK and Serum visions at uncommon, then throw some other pricey uncommons like Gixtiain Probe I'd be pretty stoked. Out of the 5 legendaries, they 4 of them to be pretty awesome (Poor poor Boroso...) as generals or even the 99 for EDH. Definitely going to pick up some singles.
