I was shocked to set bop was all they up to 5 $. It has always costed so little, and is a great green card for new players.
It is good to se it reprinted. I hope the price on it drops now. I need 4 more for my modern decks.
I can tell you didn't play back in the day. Back in the 6th edition days BoPs were $12-15 each if you could even find them. Nobody wanted to trade them and shops were routinely sold out. $5 seems tame in comparison.
I don't mind the reprint, but I wouldn't say this was much needed. It's a card that's out there in huge numbers and lots of trade binders. That said, ramp is always cool in sealed.

I'd like to point out that thanks to the new frame, this doesn't end the streak of BoP where 15 printings in a row have had 15 different templates. Actually not that near a miss, the font size on the quote also changed. But its keeping the streak alive, all BoP printings can be identified without set symbols or bottom info line
What is the difference between M12 and M11 versions? I am not able to find any.

Font size changed slightly. The word "your" wrapped around to the next line.
honestly looking through the gatherer for birds of paradise is a fun exercise like one of those "Spot the differences" pictures

I've been following all the spoilers for this set and am looking forward to the draft. What other formats can I use these cards in?? I know they aren't standard.
I like this one drop a lot. Great card.
Vintage and Legacy and Commander can use these cards. Stuff that refers to cards you draft only work in an actual draft, but you can always make a house rule with your group to get around that.
This set is more exciting than the past few years of MTG to me. Well, since the original Conspiracy I'd say. If only WOTC would make sets like these for Standard, would be much more exciting.
Honestly - I would have given thie a complete pass, since I usually only play Standard but the amount of noteable reprints makes me want to get in on this. Possibly drafts if people are interested in it at my local FNM. Well played, Wizards, well played.

I don't remember a statement about not having them at all any more than having no 4 mana wraths ever again. I'm pretty sure the statement was not all the time since any super pushed thing makes it hard to have any variety. I mean really, when Wrath of God was in standard, did people ever run any other wrath effect, ever? That doesn't mean you can't have it sometimes, though.
This is wonderful. I think they are being nice with reprints for a couple reasons, but with conspiracy you'll have "draft only" rares that basically have no long-term value (outside cube worthy foils) so you need to offset that with some choice reprints.
Those draft rares are replacing a land. There's absolutely no reason they need to be "offset".

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)

I played them in my Rock extended deck. But those days there where printed every second year almost. They have been stale for many years now.

They don't have to make a statement to show an obvious and consistent trend towards a new regime of balance decisions.

Well, that didn't stop them from bringing back Lightning Bolt for a couple years. They also printed other sweet ramp like Explosive Vegetation. The whole point of standard is that it changes. I'm sure we'll see a one drop mana dork again.

Sure, with a disadvantage. No Llanowar Elves by any means. (I was wondering why my card tag didn't work - it's 'Elves' not 'Elf') A reprint of Elves of Deep Shadow I could see (but not while Deathcap Cultivator is still in Standard)
Bringing back Lightning Bolt was a HUGE mistake - but they had no idea at the time that Modern was going to be a thing except in MTG:O. Again, since I have a theory that they are going to start a new Eternal format with either Tarkir or Origins that they don't want to make the same mistakes and are going for a 'sanitized' format without that kind of power creep grandfathered in.
No, I mean a normal one. Elves aren't on every plane, though, so it might be a snake, elf, human, etc. Whatever the green race is. Seriously, they've had 3 one drop mana dorks in standard at once before. You don't want tons of efficient ramp all the time, though, especially with all the colorless eldrazi they printed. Ramp has been teir one for multiple years in the recent past. It doesn't need to be all the time.

We've had non-elf mana producers before. Hell even the ones we got in SOI block were a Human and a Werewolf
We've had one-drop non-elf mana producers too. Although I contend that card was a HUGE mistake for balance reasons and is strictly better than everything except maybe Birds of Paradise if you want R or B.
In any event - I understand what you are saying. However I'm pretty sure they want to sanitize the power level for the new eternal format that I believe is coming, and because of that I'm pretty sure there are certain things they don't want grandfathered into it. If I'm wrong about the new eternal format, though, then I will agree with you that such things are fine to do in Standard once in awhile, especially with the shorter rotation cycle.
I feel as though them sticking BoP in a supplementary set like this leads more to the conclusion we won't see one-drop mana dorks in Standard. It was a way to reprint it without affecting Standard.
Birds of Paradise is a weird case. It flies which got it cut from standard for what was supposed to be permanently since green doesn't get flying. That makes it different than the standard 1/1 one drop dork that taps for green. I'm talking a functional Llanowar Elf, not the bird. I also don't understand what mana dorks have to do with an eternal format. Modern already has enough to fill a whole deck with. I seriously doubt anyone would run more than 8 outside of some weird case like Elfball. They might even do 1/1 for 1 that taps for any color if they want to push it. I doubt that's as good as the 0/3 hexproof for 2. Of course, a good chunk of the time, Llanowar Elf wasn't seeing any play, anyway.
Could have only been bettered by using Terese Neilsen's buy-a-box promo art. But I'll take it!
Is there a buy-a-box-promo at all?
Yes (M11, as AnImAr_ rightly noted earlier), and it is GORGEOUS. One of the Spikes in my playgroup has a copy, and it's even prettier IRL. Currently worth about $35 a copy, give or take, in comparison to about $7 for your average Birds.

No I meant is there a buy-a-box-promo for CNS2.(?)
Oh, I see. Derp.
I have no idea... I have a feeling they've stopped doing those in favour of just spraying around an assortment of Game Day / Pre-Release promos, as a means of encouraging people to actually turn up to the events.
But I don't know if they're even having a CNS2 Game Day... I can't see one mentioned anywhere on the Mothership, so I'm guessing it was the pre-pre-releases or nothing...

I cannot remember if this happened to EMA too. So my guess is: Buy-a-box-promo is exclusiv to Standard.
indeed. BaB / Gameday promos are exclusive to Standard sets. The original Conspiracy set did have a release promo but sadly they didn't follow the trend this time around.
