good to see they checked the sultai box for tiny leaders (hopefully) before all interest in the format dried up. my playgroup still digs it, and I'm hyped to rock shardless bug in a tiny stack!
disappointed in Daretti's color identity simply because I can't run him in Daretti 1.0, but otherwise he looks solid. black adds a metric ton of power to the tinker plan.
Too bad Daretti's ultimate doesn't make the artifacts indestructible. There's so much artifact hate in EDH and it is an "ultimate" after all. Would suck to pull it off and then on your opponents next turn they Creeping Corrosion, or Vandalblast.
Goblin Welder and Entomb both cost 1 mana. that can amount to a Darksteel Forge on the third turn (or earlier if you're a lucksack). ; )
personally, I really just can't wait to make 3 Mindslaver tokens.
Yeah I just thought of mindslaver with daretti's ultimate when I saw it too of course. New daretti could easily be legacy playable in grixis tezz/dack, but I've never played the deck.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
I am going to go on record and say this is the best planeswalker card they have ever created. If you have a good defense, or some fodder out, for 3 mana, you get to destroy a creature of your choice?? And then every other turn he gets to kill another creature off of his own fodder?? This might be one of the powerful CARDS ever.
Now, let the hating begin!!

That elf seems nuts for Legacy: your opponent can't brainstorm or ponder and it cantrips if you remove it (except against sweepers), I'd try it at least in the sideboard of Shardless.
I was first thinking vs value based decks but this seems great vs a lot more: wasteland/port me, draw a card tendrils of agony me 8 times, I'll draw 8, look a Flusterstorm!
Lily edict, draw a card.
Lavamancer my deathrite, draw a card
...
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

whoopsie! forgot about that. apparently, it's been too long since I broke out my Daretti 1.0 deck (or Glissa...or Sharuum...or pw Teferi). I guess I'll have to settle for triple Wurmcoil Engines, Spines of Ish Sah, Duplicants, or some such nastyness. ("too bad" Sundering Titan isn't legal, hehe)
So, if it works like the wild defiance interaction, spellskite with Leovold is U/2life: Draw a card when an opponents tries to target...Repeatably right?
You need two spellskites to pull off that trick repeatedly. With only one Spellskite, you're not changing targets the second time and thus Leovold does not trigger, since nothing became a target.
But how is that different than the wild defiance trick? (Curious as to the ruling, not arguing)

i'm sorry, but i'm not seeing what about daretti should make him black. like, none of those abilities feel black in any way, red and blue yes, black and red? not at all. solid card, but wtf here?
that elf. oh man that elf. i dont' really plan on building around him for edh, but he will definitely find a home in the bug stax deck i've been tinkering with
After a wheel effect, Creeping Dread will almost lock them out of the game.
This guy is looking more and more busted the more I think about it.
Let's not forget the repeatable Windfall that is Jace's Archivist. Which can be activated on an opponent's turn. After that player has already drawn a card.
Anyone else notice that Daretti's expression bears a striking resemblance to trollface?
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Leovold seems like a day 1 commander ban if I've ever seen one.
French list should pre ban it: Jenara, asura of war wasn't even near as powerful as business elf lol. I wonder if this can get banned in tiny leaders, right now I have an Ana battlemage list and it feels over powered as ***k.
Also I want new daretti desperately, I made an izzet artifact shenanigans commander and I'm definitely going grixis
Daretti will be great in my Rakdos deck. Especially when I draw Spine of Ish Sah.
It's hilarious that Leovold and Edric are best friends when in a deck together but Edric absolutely hates Leovold when he's on the other side of the table.

Sure we will come to an aggreement.

Does its job to hate on all the card advantage in EDH and make the game fair , so only YOU get the card advantage you so truly deserve.
Works nice with all the discard/draw spells , anything that works with Notion Thief allready can now become a theme itself for a deck, which is great.
Geier Reach Sanitarium becomes interesting and drawing cards against random targeting spells is just a nice bonus.
Nothing of this is broken in any way, but its a nice 3 mana annoying business elf to make sure the opponents dont do anything broken.
If you play this elf to stop others from doing broken stuff, you're straight up doing it wrong. It's better to just out-broken your opponents by turn 4. If I see my buddy slap a Leovold deck down on the table, I know damn well He'll untap with it and make the table discard their hands... this kills the table.

Feel free to tell me yours!
I don't see how black fits into Daretti or Leovold, so it must be flavor. Shame though, could've so used a blue green commander like this.
I can see the black in Daretti as a result of his current alliance with Grenzo. Though from the story, it is somewhat reluctant. Also, the vengeance thing. That is, I admit, usually pure red, but they had to differentiate him from the Scrap Savant. But in the end, he flung the old academic from the window and killed him. That is black, IMO.
As for Leovold, the thing is that we knew only Edric. The Trestians can be BUG by definition - spies, but also extortionists and maybe assassins.
That said, I absolutely adore Leovold's style of a highly urbanized, noble, opulent, but potentially wicked elf politician.

Daretti looks pretty neat! I don't know how well he currently slots into Grixis Tezzerator, but maybe he'll spawn some slight variation of it.
I would like Leovold more if he said "Whenever you or a spell or permanent you control becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, you may draw a card."
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
Red likes saccing artifacts and Black likes saccing creatures. Why not make sac fodder?

You can't, Mindslaver is legendary :x

I'm actually surprised by Leovold, mostly because that ability has previously either been black in the same way Necro is or white.
On phasing:
You can make the tokens, but two of them will go away. Getting back to back Mindslavers is still enough to win a game.
