Oh, that's cute. Ittakes the crown and guarentees the next attack against you can't take it. It's actually pretty neat because it disincentivizes attacking you, despite also making you monarch, since all it does is creat an opportunity for another opponent to take the crown off you. Obviously that all folds to a removal spell, but while it works it seems like great value.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.

I was just having a headache whether to include Queen Marchesa in my Alesha EDH deck for the card-drawing she provides (or have her be the Commander, but the 2-power theme will seem awkward and I don't want to revamp that). This just solved all those issues. Not as powerful of course, but synergy is much stronger. Probably my favorite card previewed so far (as a Commander player, the set is still quite lackluster so far to my suite of decks).
I'll be having Palisade Giant tender her resignation when I get hold of this card (potential card draws > 2 more toughness).
I have a feeling that 5 toughness for 6 mana can't stop all treats your opponents can have on turn 6.
That's irrelevant. No matter how much they throw at you, it completely blunts one attack since the overflow is still dealt to it. As a result, anyone attacking into you is just opening you up for someone else to take the crown, making people less eager to do so.

this is a slightly better Veteran Guard as you can transfer any damage to him, for one more colorless and more splash-ability that is pretty good. He also cantrips if you were not already the monarch.
Really like it for Commander. The Monarch mechanic seems like a great boon for monowhite decks who struggle with card draw but excel at board presence and flyers.
That's a strong effect but 2/5 for six makes it feel really underwhelming I feel like this could have gotten +1/+1 and be much better while still having the same cost.

Creature - Giant
When Guardian of the Throne enters the battlefield, you become the monarch.
If damage would be dealt to you, you may instead have that damage be dealt to Protector of the Throne.

It says "All damage dealt to you is dealt instead to Protector of the Throne."

yes you are right, its the same wording as Japanese Palisade Giant, it is not a may ability
Nothing special.
"For my Master, I will sacrifice my life".
Thank you so much! It truly isn't nothing special, overall...
Ask judge if you want, but my bet for: no matter how you assign the damage, if it must be redirected, it will be.
