This is just me fussing, but I feel that Marchesa having haste feels "off" strategy-wise. Just by entering the battlefield, she guarantees you the Monarch position (barring any unrevealed instant-speed cards that do that), so attacking with her immediately feels like you're leaving yourself open to attack (and losing the position). I know it's optional, but haste is still an ability that encourages that and it feels awkward. At least with the Assassin tokens, it makes sense (get it back now).
I understand she's promoting the "aggro-route" of just attack and claim it back later, but considering the flavor of Monarchy and the effect of drawing a card, the position always resonated to me with caution to protect the position instead. Long story short, I think Vigilance would have been a better ability for the theme with regards to her (even if she has to lose the haste for it).
New Marchesa is awesome, I don't know what people are talking about. At least in Mardu she gives way for a new mardu control deck that is much stronger than what we have in Duel Commander (not talking about multiplayer).
The homunculus seems to be giving the middle finger. I'm almost 100% sure this wasn't the intention.
Sovereign's Realm is the absolute nuts.
Funny. A member of our playgroup is always salty when he loses and usually blames it on lands (aka "unnecessary additional level of randomness that Richard Garfield regrets the most and would not do it again if possible" (because he said so in 2001 on some V:TES event during interview). He even has a whole thread here on MTGS about that.
Now this conspiracy is basically one of the (stronger) variants he already devised
Did he custom make this conspiracy 'long ago'?
As a matter of fact, yes I think this "Magic 2.0" concept of his dates to about 2010-2011. At least this long he buggers us with it. If he happens to open this card, I am sure he will not pass it, so that he can officially and legally play his "better and improved version of Magic".

I would love to see more of yours/his custom conspiracies
He only focused on the "elimination of lands" aspect So nothing more to show, I am afraid...

Strange men riding on horses distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
Love the monty python reference, in addition we did not vote for Marchesa (or Brago for that matter).
Monarch seems to be the only thing you *don't* vote for on Fiora, ironically.
How is that ironic? No king or queen in the history of Earth has ever been voted monarch. It's either a birth right or seized by the right of conquest.
It's ironic because the head of state in most modern nations is the thing people see as most important to vote on. In fact, a massive percentage of the US population *only* votes on it.
Also, the monarchy is the central theme of the set story-wise, and it is the only thing not voted on. Seems fair to call that ironic.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)

Rest in RIP My Signature, I guess. 2015-2016, we hardly knew ye.
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5

I figure this is sarcasm, but like irony, sarcasm can be subtle. Ironic?
Anyway, on Marchesa... Someone said that her haste is "off strategy-wise", but mechanically you DO want to be able to LEAVE YOURSELF DEFENSELESS because you want to be able to get the tokens every turn. Once you get a couple assassins, you can leave one or two behind to cease the group huggery. It's an interesting mini game though: "Do I want to ensure card advantage by being defensive, or do I want to build an army while sharing cards with my opponent?" Also, your opponent might not want to trade with Marchesa on that first swing because they might want a better shot at that crown. Marchesa has some good play, but yeah, the card is like, a 7.5/10 in terms of power. Kinda funny, she fits in pretty nicely in the casual mardu raid deck. Queen of the hoard.

She doesn't actually have to stick; the only way to interact with the monarch "emblem" she creates is combat damage
She seems pretty risky to me, because if ANY opponent can hit you with any creature you just became group hug
This isn't getting the attention it deserves. It's absolutely beautiful.
