A bit embittered that Innistrad 2 didn't get an aftermath story entry of sorts, but this sort of alleviates a bit of it.
After so many years, a black female neowalker~! Second favorite after Tamiyo.
I'm a bit grating my teeth that she appears in Conspiracy tho, but maybe they will try to attach Paliano with the goings on of the main continuity (or not).
At least that would stand out among all the 'strong' female characters we've gotten lately, heck it's almost a sin to show some female allure and skin in magic now. It seems you misinterpreted my post a bit, so I attached a picture to reinforce my train of thought.
Generic and Bland.... with a Nahiri avatar? Wokay.......
But seriously, I think Kaya's "blandness" sort of works with her job, it doesn't get her unnecessary attention when she goes to other planes.

I can see her being Esper. Black and Blue both remove spirits/souls while White exiles as well. Just add some generic mana to round her out for converted mana cost's sake. Say a converted mana cost of 2UBW for a Planeswalker with abilities or something.

I like that gif a lot, but I don't think I deserve it. I don't like Nahiri for the poor writing, if you're hinting at that. I loved stoneforge mystic from the get go and Nahiri's design is based on that card so of course I like her. I wonder how many folks will further educate me how incredibly wrong my impression of Kaya is. Design isn't to my liking, that's just my opinion, while 99% of the rest think she's awesome and that's perfectly fine with me.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.

I think the point was - you can't get more generic and band than Nahiri. She literally looks like every other Kor. You said it yourself - her design is based on stoneforge mystic.
Nahiri's outfit isn't any 'flashier' than Kaya's is.

Rose tint my world, keep me safe from my trouble and pain.
My vote goes for BU. She seems to be self-centered, but works very analytical.
I would say she is nether G or R.
I am unsure on the W part, because she doesn't uphold her part of the bargain. However you can say that she fulfills some sort of justice in the story, but her "life is for the living" attitude, does not seem to be an absolute thing either because in the end she let'S that noble die. Basically violating her own code...
An WUB walker would be cool however.
TL;DR: I have no problem buying BU and am conflicted on W.

For the great Miss Y!
Is it just me or does she look way too generic and bland? Pose, clothing, simply everything doesn't scream planeswalker to me. Like, at all.
You mean like with her boobs hanging out, dressed in some band-aid sized armor and polishing a sword?
At least that would stand out among all the 'strong' female characters we've gotten lately, heck it's almost a sin to show some female allure and skin in magic now. It seems you misinterpreted my post a bit, so I attached a picture to reinforce my train of thought.
Look I enjoy the female form just as much as the next "guy". With all of it available on the interwebz why does it have to be on my game card?
I get your point on the colors chosen by the artist, they are quite plain. I agree with you there.
BUT…. This is an ASSASSIN! An assassin wants to blend in, be nondescript, unnoticed. The attire fits that perfectly. Frankly a real assassin wouldn't let you see that much of his/her face and should be hooded or wear their hair in a very unassuming fashion.
I find it refreshing that every female doesn't have to look like some cartoonish teenager sex dream with boobs the size of watermelons and a 10 inch waist dressed in dental floss. And the same goes for guys looking like some steroid ripped romance cover beefcake that looks like they stepped out of some Beverly Hills spa. 99% of humanity isn't that way.

STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
You could make the argument that her motivation of 'the dead should stay dead' is reinforcing the natural order of life and death, which means she could be Green. (The fact that some people accuse her of messing this up would just be irony under this interpretation.)
Yeah, I would guess Blue/Black. An assassin (Dimir) changes to mist (blue) purple magic (black).
I wouldnt be suprised if they threw her into 4 colors though, since its a 4 color set...like Tamiyo became bant because she has a tiny bit of green and white in her.
I think the safest call is WB. She earns a living by performing something akin to assassination, but she isn't devoid of morality or decency and was disgusted by the villain's actions. Her "ghosting" ability could be expressed in either white, blue, or black, though outside of Innistrad, Spirits are most often seen in white and black, with blue generally not getting more than red or green.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I hear you. But I'd argue Black isn't just about killing in general, they kill the living. Whereas Kaya kills spirits who are typically harmful to the living and otherwise. Which isn't super nonblack of course, but it could very easily fall into White.
I personally think she'd make a great Mono black PW if it weren't for her M.O.
Exactly. If she killed the living I would be on board with UB - in fact that was my first thought when I saw she was an assassin (I figured she was called the 'Ghost Assassin' because she moved like a ghost). However, since she's an assassin OF ghosts, she's clearly WB. Or possibly Esper if they are doing tri-colour walkers.
Unrelated but cool - I just stumbled across this;
Oh it's VERY related. That's our new Ghost Assassin killing Brago, King Eternal on Marchesa's orders.
You have to remember, she's a planeswalker, not a creature. She herself probably won't be going incorporeal to attack (unless she becomes a creature the way Gideon does - but I don't expect wizards to do that on another planeswalker since that's kind of his signature thing).
Is it just me or does she look way too generic and bland? Pose, clothing, simply everything doesn't scream planeswalker to me. Like, at all.

Why is "strong" in scare quotes? Elspeth, Kiora, Liliana, Chandra, Arlinn, Nahiri, Vraska, Narset and Nissa all seem plenty strong to me. Is it possible you were using "strong" as a euphemism for "not as explicitly sexualized as you'd like them to be"?
Because I don't necessarily agree with wizards general concept of what a strong woman in magic is. Kicking butt all the time while looking as cool as possible isn't doing it for me.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.

You guys sound like SJW caricatures.
He said she looks bland and she does. She looks like she's wearing brandless Wal Mart clothing for the sake of easy cosplay and that's a character design sin. You character has to stand out even if he's "an assasin", spy or part of a uniformed organization. Look at Hitman, Assasin's Creed, Bloodborne or closer to MtG the cathars. You know who is who because of the little details, this design has no little details to look at. She doesn't even have a standout silhouette.
Her jacket could have a nice pattern on the hood/sleeves, her scarf/sweater could be an interesting color, she could be wearing an interesting hair adornment, in short she could be actually designed instead of just a black lady dressed like a random northern WA citizen.
But no, "bland" must mean she's not expicitly designed as your anti-tumblr, patriarchy-apporved sexualized boogeywoman.
And Nissa was a vastly better character when she was elf Hitler than just "Oh" and "Ashayaaaaaaa!".
So, my question is, what color combination is she? Right now I'm definitely leaning towards R/B. Also, I really dislike her title. "Ghost Assassin" just feels kind of...blunt? Not really creative I guess. I think something like "Spectral Assassin" would sound more evocative while still describing her pretty well.
Because I don't necessarily agree with wizards general concept of what a strong woman in magic is. Kicking butt all the time while looking as cool as possible isn't doing it for me
Honestly the problem with this whole "strong women" stuff is that "strong woman" is hardly a universal standard. I imagine if you asked a bunch of different people for their opinion on it you'd get such a wide variety of answers you couldn't really fit all of them into one character.
I can see her working in one of these color combinations:
WUB (Morality, evasiveness, killing things. Spirit-type has more existence in these three than in RG. Giving up the other half of the payment fits with white cause she technically didn't finish the job due to unforeseen circumstances.)
UB (Mechanical home-run, story based not so much. She did utilize a loophole to lie her way out of the deal, but then in UB she would have kept both halves of payment.)
WB (Morality, killing things, spirit colors on Ravnica and Eventide. She gave up the job to 'do the right thing.' And could be convinced that killing Brago is 'the right thing' even when it isn't.)
BG (If we reinterpret her renegging on the deal as finding matricide unforgivable, that puts her in green's family colors. Life is for the living can also be seen as a life-death cycle commentary which would be here. Her powers are more spiritual than religious, as are her views.)
Honestly all I want is her +1 to give target creature Shadow just because it'd be super annoying to people who forgot how Shadow works.
I could see good arguments for her for any of the colors actually. The only color I can't see arguments against is blue, so I'm guessing she is at least partly blue. I think the arguments that she is esper sound strongest though, especially since WotC seems to have started trying to build a cycle of 3 color walkers, given recent releases of Temur Sarkhan and Bant Tamiyo, now that they have all the 2 color combinations covered.
WB sounds optimal. And would contrast with Dack quite well, should he return.

Eh, strongly disagree that character designs need to stand out like Jace on Innistrad. Her design is perfectly fine and her subtle power signature helps give her a sense of more-than-meets-the-eye which is perfect for an assassin. Not every planeswalker needs to look like a party clown. Plus research mtg assassins, she fits the bill. Why would an assassin be running around with something that you can easily identify them by? That's..... counterintuitive. This isn't a movie where the viewer's eye needs to instantly be able to see the lead in the fray. This being the game that it is, we kinda have card frames and card names to help us remember who it is.
But I do have issues with the composition of her pic. There's no presence, and it looks unfinished (look at Chris Rallis' other pieces). I hope it isn't her card art. The pic, is definitely bland. With the right artist, she could look pretty sweet.
I don't see how anyone thinks she isn't white/x, or how she's black at all.
She's not particularly selfish in her motives. She wants to ensure her client is above board, and delivers hin to justice for murdering his mother. A UB character wouldn't give any hoots about kinslayong ad long as they got paid.
Uw is plausible. WG is unlikely but possible. Mono b? No chance imo.
She's a Hitman, meaning she kills for money, and thats a black trait tough she doesn't seem mono Black because of her philosophy and preserving balance because ghsots should stay dead and that she broked a contract for selfless reasons so i would with WB for her.
Is it just me or does she look way too generic and bland? Pose, clothing, simply everything doesn't scream planeswalker to me. Like, at all.

First of all, I don't understand why you think calling a female boring looking equates to desiring to up her sex appeal. Second of all, yeah in the real world inconspicuousness is the mark of an assassin, but this isn't the real world we're talking about. Practicality and realism have their place in Magic, but they should give way to style when necessary, and in Kaya's case it's very necessary.

Yeah, because a dark hood that hides your face is SUPER inconspicuous. A good assassin wouldn't need to hide their face, because they'd either have cased you out to catch you when you're alone, or else they'd be nowhere near you when you died.
