This could be Treasure Cruise 2.0. By turn 3 or 4 you can often dump your hand and be ready for a draw 3. I really like the thought of casting him, then bouncing him back to your hand to keep being able to draw 3 more cards after you played the 3 you drew.

RIP Batman guy. I hope somebody picks up the slack now that you are gone. Sick children need their Batman.
It's not great in your starting 7, and terrible in multiples. You need to have played at least 3-4 spells before you can think about casting it, and you want to have as few cards in your hand as possible when you do.
On the other hand, once you get to the point where it's good, it's ridiculously good, and that point is pretty easy to get to. Seems like it could be amazing in the right deck.
it's not terrible in multiples, it's actually pretty decent in multiples.
it's just bad in starting hand.
just don't run 4 of this dude and you should be fine.
it's likely you'll want to run 2.
I'm certainly getting a playset for my pyromancer ascension deck...
might end up running 2 or 3.
Well I am going to try this in delver and burn since I'm dumping my hand already and this is drawing three cards and leaving a body

Those combat stats are 100% not representative of what that creature will look like during combat.
The deck that's running this will have enough burn/counters/cantrips/etc to make sure this thing can Prowess easily during combat.
Anyone miss the fact that you can use this dude to cheat out a 10 cmc creature with eldritch evolution?
As for modern applications, I could see it being okay in UR Delver, but I think Grixis Delver probably doesn't quite have the slots for it. We've already got our big delve creatures, but this could serve a similar role in straight UR

Might be a small thing but it doesn't trigger Eidolon of the Great Revel in either Modern or Legacy burn... (never mind the flavour win with both cards!)
I think 2 mana draw 3 is big game, but whether that mode is easy enough to get, do not kno

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.

You'd have to get really lucky, as you discard your hand when he hits the battlefield.
Unless you're hellbent. Point is, if he sits there for a minute it's an undercosted creature with 8 CMC. And if you discard your evolution or whatever, you can e witness it back or whatever

Hrm.
So in my Legacy Burn deck I generally go T1 Guide, T2 Bolt Bolt (-2 cost) T3 Spike/Bolt/Guide/Whatever, so this guy wouldn't come out until turns 4-5...so a little slow. On the OTHER Hand, CMC 8 means it gets under Miracles in grindy matches, which is kinda lolz.

This goes staright to "try it and see" for my UR delver and grixis delver decks. Could very well see myself cutting two pyromancers for two of these. Three cards! It does require ditching all the counters in hand...
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.

I like it - strong, but not obviously pushed. Deck dependent, but a good reward for playing lots of spells.

Looks very promising. I think it's a 1-2 of in Modern burn decks. And of course, standard staple.

A bit too expensive for older formats? This is pretty much devil cruise. I don't think the cost is what's gonna stop it from being good

Grixis Delver can get there, but I'm not certain it wants this. Especially when it's already using it's graveyard for Tasigur and Angler.
What are you talking about? This doesn't remove the cards from the GY. In fact, its discard-hand ability fuels Tasigur and Angler.
