Actually now that I think about it, if escalate is gonna be color conditional, why not make it just black and red? Why does white get to do everything that the others colors can do. I know white didn't get madness, but it got good madness enablers
Ignoring Transform that every colour gets, here is the keywords per colour breakdown for EMN:
White = 3 (Delirium, Escalate, Meld)
Blue = 3 (Emerge, Madness, Skulk)
Black = 6 (Delirium, Emerge, Escalate, Madness, Meld, Skulk)
Red = 3 (Escalate, Madness, Meld)
Green = 2 (Delirium, Emerge)
So yeah... There is one colour doing everything the others can, but it isn't white.
You are missing investigate. Thraben inspector is probably one of the most original cards printed in the last couple of years.
I don't think there's anything wrong with black getting the lion's share of mechanics. It's freaking Innistrad.
If you all thought of it the other way, it meant that black's identity in SOI gets more diluted than the others.
There's good and there's bad.
Having said that, I wish we continued with investigate (for the sake of Blue and Green). Who's to say that's the end of the investigation when the big bad emerges. We could have investigated how to stop the corruption.

That's not exactly what I meant, but you have a point regarding keyword abilities. I meant more gameplay in general. White does aggro better than any color now, has the best removal, the best enchantments, best ability for a tempo build, best planeswalker, ability to cast creatures from the graveyard (although exiling to get spirit tokens) and a recurring enchantment, not forgotten lets white get any card back from the GY, has multiple different types of tutors, has some huge creatures, extremely cost efficient small to mid size creatures, and ramp because of knights of the white orchid. So yes, there is one color doing everything the other colors do, but it isn't black.
I also forgot white also has the most efficient sources for getting clue tokens, so it even has card draw too. I would say the only thing white doesn't have is direct damage spells, but red barely has any of those anymore and it's the only color supposed to have them.
This reminds me of Avacyn Restored and the Miracle mechanic. They didn't give it to black for story reasons. And also no green mythic miracle because ....oh wait they had no reason. But now that this cool keyword exists it can reappear in commander and other side sets in all the colors which makes me happy.
I would like to point out that it is the G card of the primordial AND the titan cycles that EDH has banned, the format known for allowing all sorts of degenerate things...

Black's escalate cost is easily the worst as it requires a deck black it's always playing while w/x is almost always playing wide. Red is interesting because it'll prolly not be played until turn 4 to at least get two modes but a mono red deck in the traditional sense wants to stop at 3 mana.

Lol I think there's a very noticable difference between yours and his. Blue isn't known for its creatures after all.

No but it certainly didn't get banned from EDH shortly after.
