MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Well, it's a cheap on-tribe (sort of) Flash creature with a not-horrible body for the cost. That's not nothing. It's...definitely odd, though. I mean, as conditional-sweeper (Languish, Radiant Flames) protection it makes sense, but Werewolves are still an aggro deck, so a card that exclusively buffs toughness feels...off.
Also, what is it with Flash-wolves always being Wolf Spirits in this block?

"The true measure of all heroes is not what they achieve, but who they inspire." —Triumph of Gerrard
Hmm. This indicates that we hopefully get a burn spell of some sort in here...maybe Lightning Bolt to represent Liliana taking a lightning bolt to the face (even though that was blue in nature).
Upgraded Wolfir Avenger.

"The essence of every world, every spell and every thought is power. Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists."
I think what I dislike most about this is that they used a great name on a really uninspired card. If you're going to call it Spirit of the Hunt even if it has to suck at least give it some bonkers ability. Or just a thematically appropriate ability. Why does the Spirit of the Hunt make wolves more durable?
It is kind of a waste of a name. They didn't need to be direct like "Spirit of Ulwenwald's Defense" but this should have made the wolves get Lifelink or something until the end of turn.

This card gives you a way to flip your wolves and still without wasting a turn, same as the 3/4 one that lets you discard a land to make a token. At least it isn't another 3/2. And it does actually work in an aggro deck as a way to protect your creatures in your attack phase I guess. Plus CoCo players will probably like it seeing as how they often cast it in response to your attack, not that CoCo decks needed another target. Honestly though I don't think wizards is meaning to make werewolves aggro this time around. They feel way more tempo to me.
When Spirit of the Hunt enters the battlefield, transform all human werewolves you control.
Yep that would've been a fun card for werewolves.
As true as what you're saying is, it would also make no sense for EMN. AFAIK, there are no human werewolf DFCs: the werewolf DFCs we get are werewolf horrors on the first side, and transform into Eldrazi werewolves on the other side. Having a card that transforms all human werewolves would be strong and meaningful for Werewolf decks, but it would be nigh-useless in limited. It would work on only werewolves from SOI, and while you might be able to draft some of those you're only going to get 2 of them in sealed (perhaps even less, since not all DFCs from SOI are werewolves).
Eh, not the best little wolf friend I've ever seen, and as everyone has said his ability seems a bit backwards, but he DOES stop a languish and having flash means you can leave the mana open to flip your wolves and then buff them against the only board wipe seeing play in standard, so that's not nothing.
At this point, he's a wolf and a spirit, which are my two favorite tribes in game, so that makes me happy, and this is a non-Eldrazi wolf. I'll take what I can after the last week of spoilers. This little dude will have a home with me in my wolf deck, optimized or not.

Vorthos-player with way too much time on his hands and a love of thematic decks.
EDH - Yes, Each One is Named After a Song. I love tying music to my decks.
Just curious, why wolf spirit instead of spirit wolf? How does Wizards decide these things?
probably because in the decks where it is played (or for lore reasons) it is more important for it to be firstly recognized as a wolf rather than a spirit. Same way Bruna and Gisela are first Angels then Horrors and when they meld they become first Eldrazi then Angels.
Edit: Didn't read that it was "each other"...damn, this went from extremely good to just playable.
