I only like this card because of the arbitrary use of 26 two times. After that it is a little interesting, although the cost of 7 is steep, but a little understandable.
It's not arbitrary. It has to have a clause for the ability and when you cast it. If it only had the opening clause then it wouldn't do anything if you cast it. If it didn't have the opening clause then it would just set your life to 26 when you cast it, but this does both.
Card is exceedingly bad. There are much better sideboard cards against burn, which is the only use this card really has.
Though the name and format make me hopeful we have a cycle, perhaps a series of "chancellor" spells
This is so terrible. 7 mana? And all you gain is 6 at the start? They added an ancestral recall onto an omniscience because that wasn't enough and then put this garbage out. "But it's 13x2, the flavors!". What flavor? Why not 13x3? Or x4?
Blue gets "exile everything from the stack" for 4, and white gets this for 7, at sorcery speed.
Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.

If it was 4x the card would completely destroy Limited.
I honestly think this is a conscious reference to Archangel's Light.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
At least those Legacy Storm players (ANT, TES, etc.) will need to hit 13 Storm instead of 10. They're too used to finding a bounce spell in their first 10 spells (so Leyline of Sanctity may be questionable).
Unfortunately, unlike Leyline, Scapeshift and Ad Nauseam-Angel's Grace can outright ignore 26 life.
I suppose not getting OHKO'd by Marit Lage might win a game someday.
So basically, it's a 0-CMC "gain 6 life" that hopefully helps you survive long enough to compensate for the dead card in hand, and then pull you back from the brink if you can last that long. It's a clever little design.
Then discard that "dead card" in your hand to Peace of Mind!
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.

I get that.
With how much it affects set design I almost wish they'd make a separate product for drafting, because one format holding the rest hostage when it comes to card design is getting old. The card still didn't need to be rare. Uncommon would have been fine, and not warped limited as it doesn't stack in your opening hand.
Is Archangel's light really something that needs referenced?<---What someone in Design and Development should have said.

25 life for 7 mana or 6 life for 0 mana (or both) isn't the "worst rare in the set." I'm not trying to say this card is great, but it's not complete crap
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
I'd also hold open the possibility that Kaladesh could have a high-CMC theme to integrate with these last two blocks.
It doesn't really combo with living lore very well
You don't cast it for free. You reveal it then the card stays in your hand then when you get to 7 mana you can cast it. Potential ok for maybe a green / white ramp style deck giving u extra time to get to world breaker / ulamog etc
It seems rather good in standard control. Free life gain vs aggro and late game stabilization will help with aggressive decks. I suppose if aggro gets hated out again then it's probably not worth the slots.

I never said anything about hard-casting it. Maybe you get the bonus 6 life at the start of the game. Neat. After that, any copies are now fodder for your choice of discard outlet, and enable a 7/7 for 3U that you can sac to reset your life total to 26.
I find it hilarious that people are complaining about white FINALLY getting a junk rare. By my count, white has been prominently featured in tier one standard decks since khans first came out. Try being a red player at any point in the last two years. Hey Swiftspear, oh our quota for playable cards in a set just reached its max, next. Zurgo bellstriker! Okay that's our one. Thunderbreak! Abbot! Okay that's enough, let's skip a set. (Bypassing BFZ), Chandra Flamecaller! Imagine white players, if you only got one card per set that wasn't jank like players do. Suddenly cards like this would just be normal, however I will find it hilarious when someone plays this card late game out of the blue, against any deck, and it wins them the game. Then they realize even whites jank rares still win games.
Seriously, I'm close to linking that topic in my sig at this point.
You win the "I never read comments about past blocks and always believe I am correct in assessment while not understanding the concept behind cards and why people think they're bad" title.
And yes, while it is a long title, it goes to show how little you know/care/understand about past cards.
If you had any semblance of intellect, or the knowledge at least required to understand my problems with this card, you would have bothered to read up on it. But you didn't, don't, and won't.
I don't feel abrasive in posting this, as you were just as much. So when you respond to my comment, with the equal ignorance I am positive will ensue, keep in mind my silence towards it will be out of respect of not being banned, rather than (easily) proving you wrong.
HINT (since you won't be able to work it out on your own): there was a certain Mythic in the original block that was not received well for its rarity. This, while not Mythic, is said card 2.0

Ok....
I have a really hard time justifying this......at rare?
They took a hated design they stated should NOT have Mythic, only to down-power it at rare....
I don't get it.....

Not every rare is supposed to be good. "Bad" rares exist for a reason.

I actually disagree. Providence would be much greater as a card concept representing overcoming the "evil" of 13 if it set your life total to 27.
