What emerge needs is creature that replace themselves when they die, like wurmcoil engine.
The design of the Emerge cards seems to be that you get some effect (like draw a card, team pump, tap a bunch of stuff) that helps ease the inherent card disadvantage.
I could see delve testing this out as a finisher sacrificing a Hooting Mandrills, Gurmag Angler or Tasigur, the Golden Fang to cheat this out early. Though I still like the octopus emerge card better since it has flash so it can be cast in response to one of your creatures getting targeted with removal, essentially blanking the removal.
I'm calling it now-
this is the Deathmist Raptor of this set. Craterhoof Behemoth is actually a great comparison on a couple of levels-
that was extremely underrated and went on to skyrocket in value from where I preordered them.
This is basically an *incredibly* nasty Green Counterspell for creature removal.

I don't think this guy's going to be dominating or anything, but I think he'll find a home in Standard.
People saying he's bad, don't look at him like a dude, look at him as Overrun with Kicker to be a dude. He's a huge one-time power boost to your team +Trample for 5ish mana. That's normally enough to dominate Limited, but not necessarily dent Standard.
But then look how wide Standard decks are going these days - he's probably not sliding into GW Tokens or getting more than maybe a sideboard slot in Bant company, but even before brewing for a deck of this guy's own, I'm sure a copy is right in Junk/4-C Rites as an alternate way of saying "oops, I win."
You look at it with 10 mana and it "looks" unplayable.
But if you have a deck that ramps up with creatures, the effect becomes extremly strong.
Just imagine you use tokens and the creatures that put these tokens on the field will be used to make this cheaper.
If you sacrifice a creature with 4-5 mana, this Overrun creature is allready super cheap and will either end the game right away or make it terrible bad for the opponent, as they have to deal with your overrun AND a giant creature that also has trample.
This card is not really what Elves want, especially in older formats you flood the board with 1 mana creatures, and you can much easier search for the Hoof to win in that spot.
But men i could even see this card in Affinity, flooding the board with cheap creatures and sacrifice some of the affinity creatures to make this extremly cheap (Myr Enforcer and friends reduce this card to GGG, which hits like a truck) ; much more different shell for this card to shine.
But these big Eldrazi cards look pretty good as long as you can cast them for like ~4 mana with a sacrifice.
A giant Eldrazi.. boar? What is this, a joke? Card is really cool, would have loved it better if it had been a more unwordly creature, or something already huge. But, a boar?
Oink oink.
