Kessig Prowler might finally give Werewolves a shot in standard. It's really really good. It's also an almost unprecedented aggressive mono-green drop: Dryad Militant is hybrid and Warden of the First Tree requires another color to take off. Every other 2/X for one in green comes with some sort of drawback.
Smoldering Werewolf is also solid. Insane in limited. Probably a bit slow for constructed, but Werewolve Commander appreciates a decent non-vanilla wolf. Real good with Deathtouch :).
Don't forget that with the new dearth of mana dorks at G, having a solid turn 1 play is even better.

These are… acceptable. Powerwise Prowler is good, but I'm not happy about having Eldrazi in my favorite tribe. I guess I'm glad they didn't completely drop wolves like they stupidly did in AVR, but we could have had more actual werewolves too. Ulrich isn't great.

Hoping for a cure, or at least an outbreak.

Why is Dryad Militant being hybrid ... a relevant point? In any format where you want a 1-drop 2/1 you don't care about 'color identity'. It can be played in a deck with only forests, and as a bonus it's immune to Ultimate Price. Experiment One isn't technically a 2-drop but in any deck that would use it it has 2 power by its first swing.
This isn't the first new green one drop I think has relevance in aggro mono green builds beyond standard. Gnarlwood Dryad is amazing too. This set will turn lowland stompy on its head.
Ugh, so conflicted. Like the designs of the cards, which although outside of the prowler are mostly limited-oriented, but I hate the flavor so much. Not even that some of my fierce puppies were lost to the Emrakul scourge, but when MaRo confirmed that only Ulrich will be a classic werewolf, I died inside.
It just.....isn't the same. The art and flavor got me into the game, particularly werewolves. Now we come back to Innistrad and outside of Arlinn and Ulrich, it feels werewolves kind of got shafted again. I want to love these cards, but when there's no hope for anything but Eldrazi for my tribe, why even care at this pointime? These aren't the creatures that lured me to the game. If they'd just given me a small few that were immune, I could have gotten by. Oh well....

I'm obliged to say that I'm disappointed Smoldering Werewolf isn't an artistic evolution of Kessig Forgemaster.

Ulrich did nothing for the tribe. I've been playing werewolves since the original Innistrad, it is my single favorite tribe in the history of the game, and I've a..well, bit of a thing for them *cough*. Arlinn was a good addition to the deck. Ulrich is not. These are not. But you're acting like Shadows did nothing else for us. We got Geier-Reach Bandit, which is one of the best cards the tribe has ever received, we finally got a second good 1-drop to go along with Reckless Waif in the form of Village Messenger. Moonlight Hunt is a great removal option for the deck too.
ABOMINATION! God what a waste. All WotC had to do is make some decent werewolves and they go ahead a jump the damn shark. Such a pitty.

I'm not normally one to agree with MTGS' hate mob, but even I'm finding all these Eldrazified creatures a little depressing. And I'm not even a big fan of horror to begin with. It's just feeling like New Phyrexia all over again.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Now we come back to Innistrad and outside of Arlinn and Ulrich, it feels werewolves kind of got shafted again.

Same here for favorite tribe and a deck I've had since I entered the game. I didn't mean Ulrich helped the tribe necessarily, and I'm not thrilled with him either, but I also can't say he's nothing. As little as he does for the tribe, at least he's a legendary.
And I agree on the points about SOI giving us some decent support. The problem is I don't feel like WOTC fixed any of the tribe's inherent limitations. No new immerwolf type effect, Vildin Alpha is good but fragile and has to transform herself first, and nothing like Moonmist to help in a pinch. We got some good support, true, but the same problems still exist.

Regarding the art, I finally made the mental connection: Emrakul does to normal life the same thing that happened to people in the movie The Thing.
Will it really?
I mean... every single time a 2/1 for 1 is spoiled, people will go nuts and post this...
but at the end of the day none of them make a real impact.
not even Kytheon, Hero of Akros has seen that much play, and that card is most likely A LOT better than this.
I'm already sick of seeing the "strictly better" Savannah Lions being praised and then doing nothing.
lol
Love Kessig Prowler for it's power level. Smoldering Werewolf annoys me though. Just feels like a super kessig Forgemaster but at a less playable mana cost. Werewolves are supposed to be aggro. Getting big beatsticks with transform abilities that cost 6+ mana is not what the deck wants.
Also, I'm gonna hate Wizards forever for mixing my favorite tribe with Eldrazi.
I love the design of the Eldrazi transform cards. Emrakul's just wreaking so much chaos even the werevolves aren't safe from her influence. Wasn't much of a fan of the way normal werewolves transformed anyway.

Yeah but, we finally got something from my favorite movie of all time represented on a card, so that's bonus points.
