Geralf and Gisa is extremely powerful. Just tune out the people whining. People whine about every card, and say it's chaff, including just about every card that ends up being really good.
People thought Ugin was jank, people thought the new flip planeswalkers were jank, people thought hangarback walker was jank, Chandra was jank, etc.

Stoked for Gisa and Geralf for my UB zombies deck so I can have a little more fitting General (I use GrimGrin right now).
I hope to see some decent Scaabs.
The vamp may be an interesting as a curve topper... we have Asylum Visitor, Olivia, Blood Mad Vampire, Drana, Falkenrath Gorger, Heir of Falkenrath, Insolent Neonate.

This aint your girlfriends meta! This is a man's meta! TURBO META.
Now we need some 1 drop and 2 drop zombies (Relentless Dead is more of a 3 drop by way of his ability than a 2 drop).
I get your point on him being a 3 drop, but the new Gisa & Geralf card kind of negate your point, since he can now be replayed at any time, making him a safer 2 drop.
We still could use a decent 2 drop and definitely a 1 drop(Zombies are the only tribe with no 1 drop in this Block so far). I do like Gissa and Geralf and I think they might be able to see play in standard, but the whole block is starting to stink of too much flavor and not enough substance. Maybe this is the result of new two set design limiting what can go in a block(and if it is I want the old 3 set design back). Hopefully better stuff is yet ahead, but my outlook on the set is starting to sour.
Zombies has a one drop, people just overlook it. It isn't even a terrible card
Gisa and geralf are just way worse than their individual cards... I guess they get weaker when they team up because....?
...because standard and limited are wizards babies, two delicately crafted environments that must not be broken by any means. You probably knew that anyway, so apologies in advance for pointing that out for the ninth-million time.
Because Standard and Limited are played by more people than any other formats(besides maybe Commander?) and having entire YEARS of broken environments is toxic to long term game health. Look to your signature. You think A.Knowledge is a good card to have back? NO THANKS! I played during Caw Blade and RtR. Let me tell you how fun it is in Control v Control v Control metagames.....it isn't.
Is toxic environment a new buzzword this spoilerseason? wizards brags constantly how good this year/set/whatever was for magic, how many new players the game got so I fail to see the toxic levels you speak of. Pack rat was a stupid card during that time, I agree with that, but the bigger problem there was mutavault, which got autoslammed 4 times in each and every standard deck under the sun. I for one, absolutely loved the standard with rtr. cards such as detention sphere and supreme verdict did a wonderful job of explaining that the game is about more than just slamming creatures on the board and turning them sideways.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Man that "no cards in hand" clause just cramps the rest of the card so badly. It would have been pretty great without it. With it, I wouldn't ever want to be in the situation where it's ability is live.
Topdeck mode is not the situation that you want to be in for any deck. Let alone a deck that needs cards with your decks mechanic and enablers for that mechanic to work. I could have seen maybe "if you have two or less cards in hand". That would have been manageable.

I was really expecting to see Liliana's card at the end of the story today. Disappointed :/
Especially considering the title. Plus they didn't do the Wallpaper to match the story like they have been doing lately.
I wouldn't have minded a Gisa and Geralf wallpaper...

Gisa and Geraf should be 2 different cards that melds into Gisa and Geraf
Then they'll definitely end up as Eldrazi (since every DFC except Ulrich is an Eldrazi apparently).
Considering how popular the Siblings are generally and how unpopular the Eldrazi are at the moment... I can almost already hear the complaints from an alternate dimension where this happened.
I wonder if they ever actually pulled back for a second and looked at the tribes as a whole. Last Innistrad, Zombies worked on the back of Diregraf Ghoul, Gravecrawler, and Geralf's Messenger. Humans ran off of Doomed Traveler, Champion of the Parish, and Mayor of Avabruck. Vampires started with Stromkirk Noble, and topped out at Olivia Voldaren. With this set, humans are in that 1-2cc sweet spot, while every other tribe is getting 3-5 drops that are mostly unplayable trash because they can't keep up with the sweet curve on Humans.

RtR was not Control v conyrol... Br Zombies, Midrange, Naya Blitz, Reanimate, Humanimator, and (depending on when exactly) infect were strong decks...

Asylum Visitor is actually pretty good for this... especially combined with Olivia. Cast dude, madness cast your other card, trigger mini hell-bent. Draw 2 next turn repeat

I said in this BLOCK and shambling goblin is mediocre, but we do need another 1 drop for the deck in standard(especially with Shambling Goblin leaving in 3 months). I am just frustrated with how fun and playable tribes were in the first block(in constructed and limited) and how under-served they are in this block(werewolves, humans, and vampires were the most playable tribes in limited SOI, but EMN, EMN, SOI limited looks to be a mediocre mess if we don't get more tribal cards; especially with only 2-3 werewolves being in EMN as it is).

I enjoyed the NPH-INN-RTR era, but standard has not been as good since then and it is frustrating. Wizards is just selling more jank product that is how they are "attracting" new players and it will eventually bite them in the ass(MM2, EMA, Anthologies, Yearly Commander ect...). The EV on their new products is abysmally low and so to combat it they just print more product for players to gamble on.
Gisa and geralf are just way worse than their individual cards... I guess they get weaker when they team up because....?
Uh, are we looking at the same cards? Individually they were 5 mana 3/4s with tap abilities that cost mana and required specific situations to even be used (much less be useful.... Much less be good...). This is a 4 mana 4/4 with an ability that you can potentially use immediately (provided you have the mana). The ability is even (arguably) much better, as casting cards from your graveyard is a game winning ability.
Comparing it to previous cards that were released in a direct-to-vintage set (and had higher mana cost to boot) is stretching the truth...
Stretching the truth or eye rollingly inaccurate? The funny part is, this card has a heck of alot more chance in Legacy than the "Direct to Legacy" versions did (not that it will likely see play there either).

I am speaking in terms of Commander.
Gisa is awesome because any big fatties can turn into a bunch of baby zombies at any moment. Geralf is... garbage because mono blue isn't meant for that type of strategy. So they fuse them together and we get... something "ok." I would have thought as the zombie overlords of Innistrad (barring Lily) could do something a bit more powerful if they are working together.
If you just had Gisa there, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if Geralf had any influence. Maybe have a one time deal of exiling a crestate from any graveyard to make a zombie. Something that has "Geralf" ness to it. But how it is now... it's aight. Would have been cool if one of them was zombified. Perhaps Geralf since he is so into experimentation. Lots of possibilities they could have easily gone but they went with something rather safe.
Also mythic? That seems rather harsh...the card doesn't scream limited bomb.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.
People thought Ugin was jank, people thought the new flip planeswalkers were jank, people thought hangarback walker was jank, Chandra was jank, etc.
But perfect for commander zombie tribal
Basicly your zombies never die they can keep getting resurrected by the commander
Dranna needs a home so bad!!!!
Enemy colored shadowlands, anyone?

shambling goblin
that's what it seems like to me
But we need more constructed level zombies that you would actually want to reuse. Replaying Rancid Rats with Prized Amalgams isn't enough.
