Thank you for bringing this to light. I hadn't seen it yet and it means that I can stop looking for spoilers now. I'm out for this set.
Oh no, ~30-ish Eldrazi in a ~200 card set. The ******* horror.
No need to be a hostile d*** as I was thanking someone. Grow up. I don't care that there are eldrazi or whatever number of them there are. I care that I dont get anymore werewolves. Thats why i liked Innistrad.
People have opinions. GTFO with your 12 year old simple mindedness
Well, getting bent out of shape over what is written on the card in the creature subtype, after you already got a ton of werewolves last set, is silly.
Wow, blue got upgraded in this set, it keeps getting good cards. It reduces mana costs on both sides (better when flipped), reasonable cost, nice body with prowess. Plus great flavor.
I just wonder why it's not an Eldrazi Horror like most other flip cards?
EDIT: just checked, and others are generally not horrors. My bad.
Huh...I'm kind of on the fence about having a man-made homunculus corrupted and turned into a broodling but then again they're kind of sort of Living so i guess they're organic...?
Cards good but it seems a tad off flavourwise (imo)
I really don't get all the hate on DFC eldrazi. get some white out and erase that eldrazi subtype on the other side if it bothers you so much. would that make the cards acceptable to you? read 'the dunwich horror' and then tell me creatures transforming into eldrazi isn't an amazing homage to a great story by lovecraft.
on werewolves and entitled werewolf enthusiasts: they have literally NEVER made this much support for one tribe among so few sets. never. I made the same point in the Ulrich thread and I will say it here too: there is an incredible amount of support for werewolves and complaining that you didn't get enough is downright ridiculous. I play werewolves too, I am incredibly satisfied with the tools we have, and I am certain there will be a few more werewolves in the set that we have only seen ~1/6 of. no, the tribe is not the most competitive, but there aren't many tribes that can even hold a candle to goblins, merfolk, and elves, lets be honest. if you really like werewolves, you play them no matter how strong or weak they are.
on the card itself, seems usable. potential 3/4 for 2 mana seems strong. I like that blue is getting some strong creatures here between nibilis of frost, docent of perfection, and our avid reader here.

More like ALL but ONE of the DFCs in the set. This is absolutely and utterly disappointing news as. What a waste of the preciously rare DFC slots. There is too much interesting and unique design space with those to waste on "thing but now Eldrazi thing".
I think this card is very good. In terms of standard, it can work in some type of control or tempo deck, while in modern it has the potential of being a blue goyf. People already use Thought Scour, and if you flip him on turn 3, he is pretty monstrous. Being bolt proof after flipping is nice, and he is a lot more consistent at flipping than Delver. His mana reduction is also pretty good. In standard, it plays very nicely with Nagging Thoughts and Ojutai's Command; this could be the type of card that could put blue tempo decks back on the map.
This card may be the push that the blue prison deck needed to go over the top. That deck is very reliant on Jace's Sanctum to do its thing, but this homunculus could be the 5th-8th copy of the Sanctum. That is really cool, looking forward to see if it is good enough.

It is so clunky to have in an instant/sorcery (with an artifact sub-theme) deck an enchantment that you have no idea. But maybe I'm overreacting.
Jace's Sanctum is currently my only in enchantment in my spellslinger build of Intet, the Dreamer. I don't see it going anywhere. Goblin Electromancer and this are better, sure, but I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of either. They're a bit too ugly and goofy for my taste. On the plus side, enchantments tend to stick around much longer than creatures in my meta.

I love how if the backsides didn't have "Eldrazi" on them, everyone would be losing their ***** on how much more creative space WotC is using and would be applauding. They ARE using the unique desin space. But apparently a colorless frame is enough for peopel to completly disregard it.
Oh, you have proof to backup your baseless claim?
Let's get more cards like Westvale Abbey or Startled Awake and less creature becomes creature. And yes, what is on the typeline matters. Flavor matters. It's a cute trick and nice reference once, but when literally all but one DFC does it, it's a waste of space and beating the concept to death over our heads.
I really like this card. First we got Thing in the Ice now we get this. It seems like Wizards are trying to promote delver style decks in Modern.

That's your opinion and that's fine. What I think is silly is when someone thinks that creature subtype, in a game dominated by creatures (like it or not that is reality of current MTG) doesn't matter. It matters quite a lot actually. Also, this is the only plane with werewolves. Would make sense that we have a lot of werewolves on it. What you're suggesting sounds similar to if Zendikar suddenly had a set without Kor.
Hello new thalia, I think I'll go mono-blue tempo spell slinger now. I've got this wonderful Eldrazi Homonculus and Jace's Sanctum to keep me company....

Yes, enchantments are harder to get rid of, but I prefer to play cards that have multiple uses (like Illuminate) or cards that are relevant both in the early game and in the late game (like Mizzium Mortars or Cyclonic Rift) or that cam be used multiple times (like the fairly new Geistblast). So I really like this Curious Homunculus for being both a early mana dork and a potential wincon via beatdown.
On a side note: playing Mizzix of the Izmagnus rarerly I pay a full mana cost as I can reach easly at lest a discount of 4 colorless mana.

I don't really understand what makes an "Eldrazi" creature an Eldrazi though. Is it a race? Why didn't all phyrexians have phyrexian creature type?
