No matter if this card is gimmicky or not.
The fact that there IS a 2 card "I-win" combo in standard, in the same colours no less, is something to take serious.
Last time that happened, was when splinter twin was legal in standard.
I am at least certain that most pro's will have a look if it can be broken before the PT starts.
What combo? There is no combo with this card, unless you mean a very impossible to achieve combo.
Having this and Triskadekaphobia out at the same time is entirely possible and definitely a combo.

Have you even read any of this thread?
Yeah, play this and then this, with this on turn five and they're still not dead... Golfclap.

It doesn't work the way you think it does.
You untap at the start of your turn.
You go to upkeep, you choose either Triskadekaphobia effect to put on the stack.
You activate Tree with Triska on the stack, to swap their life total with the Tree's toughness.
They do not activate a kill spell, or any other response to this. Resolve stack.
Swap totals.
Triska checks to see if anyone has 13 life.
They dead.
You rub this in their faces for the rest of their natural life.
Then you have it written on their tombstone.
However once that tree is out, they'll probably hold up killspell mana until you activate Tree, and then kill it with extreme prejudice while it is on the stack to prevent this from happening. If at all possible.
Having said that though, I am more happy that this isn't an Eldrazi tree.
Excuse me, but what exaclty would have been different if it would have been en "eldrazi horror tree"? are you seriously so stubborn, that you hate a card JUST because it has eldrazi written on it, with no other reason at all?^^
I don't see why this is bad. I care about this stuff. Part of the fun of magic for me is the story and the creativity.
The Eldrazi are my least favorite creature type. I think the whole concept of them is lame, and its because of them that I believe the Zendikar story is poor. After having an entire block dedicated towards them and having to see them weekly as they completely took over modern for their brief stint, I was ready to take a break from them. Now obviously I am not exactly thrilled to see them again, and I am especially not thrilled of seeing them bring back two of my favorite legendary creatures just for the purpose of turning them into an eldrazi. So yes, I am happy that they didn't turn one of my pet cards into an Eldrazi. Also, I never said that I would "hate the card" because it would have the word "Eldrazi" written on it.
It's worth noting that in combination with tainted remedy and your opponent being at less than 13 (or whatever toughness you have it at) is considered life gain and thus, and instant kill.
"Triskaidekaphobia doesn't work as well as people are thinking it does the life loss/gain trigger happens then it checks if lifetotal is equal to 13 so if you use tree to put them to 13 they will be 12/14 when the Triskaidekaphobia trigger resolves"
Nope the player dies first, and then the life gain or loss occurs.

Isn't this why you trigger Tree near the end of the opponents turn, then you activate Trisk during your upkeep and win?

You're quoting a post from June 29, when the original poster acknowledged their mistake in another post slightly later on June 29.
You've got your 'trigger' and 'activate' terminology backwards. You don't trigger Tree and you don't activate Trisk, you activate Tree and Trisk has a trigger.
You can activate Tree either in end step of your opponent's turn or during your own upkeep while Trisk's triggered ability is on the stack; either one will have the same net effect (opponent loses if uninterfered). The former might not always be an option available to you because of 'summoning sickness' on Tree. If you want to win via Trisk on your next upkeep after casting Tree, you won't be able to activate Tree on your opponent's turn. But you can activate it during your own upkeep, while Triskaidekaphobia's triggered ability is on the stack, and then that player loses when it resolves.

Clearly we can only activate Tree on the turn after we play it. (Unless we somehow get haste on it(Obviously))
Depending on exactly what the opposing player has in play, and how much mana is tapped, I would probably still tap it at the end of their turn, just so it gets untapped during my untap phase so I can always use it either use it's ability again, or to block with it on my turn... Specially in a 4 player-free-for-all... Or on the miracle the opponent manages to save himself.
I used experiment kraj to steal the ability and murder my boyfriend

Star City has it at $5 right now. Given the kind of deck that I want it for, that's more than I want to spend.

Edit note - Forgot to put the quote in my post
dang. You're right. I totally misunderstood how the life switching worked. I thought they "gained" 13 life.
Aw well. Fun card but total jank.
