With each passing card I get more and more annoyed with this set - H.P. Lovecraft Innistrad sounded so cool but this is the biggest whiff in Magic history
Always Watching is a thing, gives her Vigilance and puts her out of Spatial Contortion range
Both are fairly interesting standalone cards. Bruna has a casting clause so there's no endless reanimation looping shenanigans, but it's still a resilient flying body that can down an Always Watching Ojutai. Gisela is simply an absolute beatdown, which is to be expected
Brisela has a really weird effect. She transforms during the end step, which is probably the perfect time to do so, and by virtue of negating 3-cost cards she (they?) is (are?) technically resilient to a bunch of cards, such as Ruinous Path or Reflector Mage (though the latter can be CoCo'd in)

It is annoying. I wanted Bruna and Gisela as their regular selves. Their cards as normal angels without Meld or the flip would have been amazing for me. To see them take on Emrakul like Linvala on Zendikar or something. Seriously, we lost 3/4 of the big angels in this set? Just lame as hell.
You know what's funny? If you open that Brisela, and you don't have the other two, it's completely unplayable.
I would expect that another rare would be found in the pack? Otherwise it could be pretty bad for draft having a card that is virtually unplayable.
Gisela is incredibly annoying. What a great card. Playing her on her own is good enough.
That's not how it works. The full card of Brisela is the back face of both Gisela and Bruna combined together. (I believe Bruna is the top half, Gisela the bottom half). You literally can't have the full "card" of Brisela without having both

I would recommend checking out today's mechanics article on the mothership. Suffice to say, though, it would be quite difficult to have Brisela in your pool without having the other two cards.
Bruna seems like a way better commander. That cast trigger is great for command zone shenanigans, and there are a ton of great targets for it, including Gisela.
I really am not sure about this....It's a nice implementation but I'd rather have had either angel turn into the big bad. Will really have to see it in play though.

Speak for yourself, I think it's really cool. Certainly not "The biggest whiff in Magic history".
Oh, come on! This is MTGSalvation - every set is the "biggest whiff in Magic history" according to someone.
I for one love the mechanic. I feel like I should hate it, but it just makes me laugh and brings back nostalgia from when I owned a B.F.M. years ago.

Given that the marketing reported things going nice in the last Innistrad block was the least liked, I'm going to predict all the angels die.
Because there isn't enough going wrong? Fans of AVR could have been thrown a bone here, instead of swinging things catastrophically to one end. Getting a card for both Bruna and Gisela as normal angels that die in the story is fine, but this set is not going to appeal to me at all if it's not even going to deliver traditional angels. We lost Avacyn, the least EMN could do is actually have some regular ones for angel fans.

Too expensive for my taste, but yeah, her cast trigger is very good.

Watch as you have Sigarda out, with her fused-sisters right next to her, and no Avacyn on board.
With Gisela as commander and Bruna in the 99.
The ability of the angel fusion is great, and combo with Gaddock Teeg

Brisela is split in half and on the back of the other two. You can't actually open her.
Brisela is the back side of the first two cards, put sideways. Look for the card corners in the middle of the picture.

They're DFCs... half is on the back of Bruna and half is on the back of Gisela. If you have the two, you have the third.

I noticed that after you pointed it out, thanks. Makes perfect sense since its 2 cards combining into one
You literally can't open Brisela without opening one of the other two. Half of Brisela is on the back of each one.
