I don't know who Ben is, but it sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders.
The Khans gain lands are a serious wtf in my mind. Of all the mana fixing they could have printed...
Definitely several good reprints, but a lot of chaff. I know people are calling to not whine because there's a lot of good stuff, but at $10 a pack it's no doubt a tough sell for a lot of people (myself included).
Yea absolutely it still has amazing reprints
I'm just saying they completely messed up the special land choice 1 life and fetch, or 2 life and come in untapped. Would have Ben way better.
So many missed opportunities. To a ridiculous degree, really. It's almost as if they don't care about what players want!
Now you've got it. "What Players Want" is irrelevant. "What people will pay for" is their guiding star, and MM2 proved that a Mythic Lotto sells packs. I begin to wonder if the Limited Print Run isn't to preserve value, but to fuel impulse buys before people hash out "not worth $10/pack."

Cards are game pieces, and should be treated as such, easily replaceable.
Cards are not money, investments, or a retirement fund, and should never have been treated as such.
Wizards made a mistake caving to speculators once, and we still pay for that mistake 2 decades later.
"Entitled:" the entire ad hominem fallacy condensed into a single word. It doesn't strengthen your argument to attack motivations, it just makes you look like you don't understand the argument.
Mirage Fetches would have been excellent in new frames and for budget players.
And in pauper.
They would've done nothing in Pauper though. We don't have duals so Evolving Wilds & co are strictly better.
Bad River would in fact be a big upgrade for Angler Delver. The fact that the basic comes in untapped means that you can sit on the fetch for future Brainstorms. Evolving Wilds punishes you for not cracking it at the earliest opportunity.
With every set Wizards are closer to achieving perfection at creating lottery sets and hyping the train in the first few days of previews.

I have divined your fate. You shall find your nemesis, a catastrophic clash. Devastation, misery for all, the unleashing of horrible curses and ferocious powers. Ruin, such ruin that I dream each night of blessed peace, assured that the universe is in balance once more...
Yea I would pay $10 a pack for this to draft but unfortunately I probably wont have the opportunity.
Mana Crypt is going to drive the cost per pack well out of the realm I am comfortable with due to the all the junk rares. Half of the "good" rares won't even carry the $15 value needed to break even on a pack.
- Are people upset that there are bulk rares? Not every rare can be $10 or the EV of the set would be ridiculous.
- Are you upset there aren't more valuable uncommons? Because then the rares would have to become less valuable
- Did you want them to not reprint Mana Crypt and redistribute that $100 into the bulk rares?
Did people expect WoTC to throw in $400 of EV into a $240MSRP set?
Not sure why people are angry.
Just wait, Flusterstorm will get reprinted in Conspiracy and FTV: Lore will have Port

The Wilds can fetch all 5 colors though, and allow a double Landfall activation on a single turn, or allow you to cast a T1 Daze or Snuff Out or even crack it inmediately for things like Wild Nacatl / Kird Ape / Gush / Fireblast though. I overlooked the Brainstorm interaction which is kind of nice, but until we get the enemy part of the cycle I wouldn't like the allied ones getting in the format.
Same whiney trolls that complain about every set which basically says you're broke or one of those folks who wants the world handed to them for 4 dollars and smile. The set is fine.
It feels like its inbetween the first Modern masters and the second.
there are some really annoying rarity upgrades and downgrades are mostly of bad cards.
there is far too many recently reprinted cards from commander and conspiracy for me to be super happy.
but.. its pretty good though.
So with most of the focus being on the ridiculous up-rarity shifts, can we take a moment to appreciate the pauper additions? elite vanguard, warden of evos isle, and desperate ravings are the ones I immediately noticed. Any that I am missing?
Do people really want a land cycle to be eating up the value in the set?
Legends Karakas is $142. Wouldn't you rather bring the price of Karakas down than increase your chance of exactly breaking even on a pack for a shock/fetch?

Peregrine Drake, $5 card that was uncommon and now is common
Well what a trainwreck this set is on mtgo. I get that in paper there are several big money pulls and there is reasonable excitement for those of you opening packs in person (which from what I gather is majority on this forum. But I did want to break stride and give a voice to mtgo players). But those same big money pulls are worthless online (for reference- crypt - $3 on mtgo, karakas - 39 cents on mtgo , vampiric tutor -22 cents on mtgo, etc etc).
Now this was bound to happen to some extent. But Eternal Masters basically took all the things that have been flooded via vma, promo, or pz1 and just threw them back in. Meanwhile chase cards that are in low circulation (and hence high value) that could have easily been put in this set like Port, Misdirection, Show and Tell were left out. I sold out of my ports last year thinking they would have to see a reprint. Then they announced Eternal Masters and I thought bingo. Guess I lost that bet. Never expected all of them to make it in. But none of the cards on mtgo worth more than $25 other than wasteland (from the set announcement none the less) making it in is a huge surprise.
On modo the set should be called "Eternal Masters: A high five to pauper players, A low five to uncommons" cause the only eternal help to the market is tanking pauper stuff like ancestral mask, hydroblast/pyroblast, firebolt and legacy uncommons in daze and therapy. For the rest of players you are praying you crack a wasteland. As thats the only way you live the finish up in pack value dream.
Really blown away at how little consideration must have been given to the mtgo marketplace when this set was created.
Ugh. They really front-loaded all the exciting cards. Not a single chase rare/mythic or value uncommon in the entirety of what was spoiled today. And there are now just completely unforgivable rarity upshifts. Imperious perfect? Serendib efreet? Fine if you're upshifting in a normal set for limited concerns, but not in a set that's ******* $10 a pack. Jesus. I was defending the shardless and strix "upshifts" before, but these are just bull*****. Also way, way WAY too many filler rares spoiled today. Let's see how many rares and mythics are under $2 (or are so close they certainly will be after this set) -

And that's cards under $2 - there are a TON in the $2-$10 range. This is absolutely unacceptable for a set with a $10 MSRP. Your EV from a pack may be more than $10, but the median value is going to be like $1.50. Terrible. Basically half of the rares and mythics are worthless.
I have a pre order of a booster box on 200$, should i open it, draft it, save it, cancel it?. Right now i dont know what to do with it, i dont feel i will get my money back on the singles
