I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.

Pleased for old times's sake. Sadly W orb is in just one of my many Legacy decks, a singleton in a sideboard of a Soldier/Chalice Stompy deck alongside some suppression fields. It is just not Legacy playable nowadays, but its great for the old timers. I would love it if Propaganda or Ghostly Prison made it in alongside an Icy- those mana restriction strategies are sadly lacking from today's anodyne fare.
As for other similar rare cards, Stasis would be my preference, but nothing beats the art on that, and I would not want it in foil.....
PS Who nicked the bear?

People with belligerent signatures are trying to compensate for something....
I can't express how happy I am that they reverted the functionality.
This card is the ONLY card in the history of Magic where the MTGO printing didn't "count". Matt Tabak uses "this card was printed and works that way on MTGO - we can't change it because MTGO counts as a printing" all the time to justify keeping cards the way they are (Lotus Vale, etc).
But this was printed and worked in MTGO with the untap clause. I should know, I re-built the deck I loved from my childhood with Icy Manipulators and Relic Barriers and had a great time in casual for a few months. Until out of nowhere, they decided to strip the clause away. I've been emailing them/posting about it for years. It was truly an anomaly to their stated policy, and they never gave a good reason for why they did it.
So this is actually undoing a great injustice that's lingered for a decade or so. I could not be happier.
This thread is full of idiots... Lightning Bolt is NOT being reprinted.
Many times has a writer in Wizards said so, because of the plain and simple fact that it's too powerful for what it costs. x/3 creatures shouldn't be able to die at instant speed for one mana without a signifigant drawback. (like PTE giving you a land)
I absolutely guarantee that LB will not be printed in M10, and you can quote me on that.
So… I wish it'd kept the tapped clause off, but I'll survive. Most STAX players haven't cared about their lands in my experience, and the small adjustment will be interesting because it gives a lot of non-STAX players an out as well.
The lack of polar bear though is not acceptable. That polar bear is the Winter Orb, even if he is not the actual orb even in that picture.

So are they going to put Opposition as another blue rare?

That art is old-school style awesome! The only thing I don't like about it is that it needs a polar bear somewhere.
I got my eye on you A-A-Ron.

Well done
It's hidden in the snow. Can't you see it? Camouflage.
Now *that* is a surprise!
As happy as I am to see this, it makes me a little sad-
this means they *could* have printed Stasis, but probably chose this instead
Oh well, this is still my favorite card of the set so far.
Reprint Stasis!
Control needs more love.

Could it be that WotC is actually taking this reprint business seriously for once?
I mean, I don't have a few hundred dollars lying around gathering dust, so I won't be drafting this, but well done, Wizards. At least on this one.
Everything is BRAAAAIINNSS

Look at his cards. From Wooden Sphere to Leviathan, verything has the texture of a brain. It's AWESOME.

This fixed the functionality. Them reprinting stasis does not fix and pre-existing functionality that I know of?
