People give oblivioned one an awful lot of hate. I have followed him so I get notifications on what he posts and on almost every single post he has made he is immediately ripped on for not having pictures or some other reason. He has provided more credible spoils than most people. If you want my opinion I think he gets the card spoils from somewhere/someone that is a primary source. But I also think that he takes stuff he sees on the internet and posts on it. Odds are his attention is going to his head so he is no making posts about stuff that he honestly doesn't know about but has an educated guess on. Say the U/B jace he found somewhere and thinks that it makes sense so he'll throw it out there. Same with the eldrazi thing, he has plenty of attention and Helen Keller could have seen a ban somewhere in the deck coming. The community has been throbbing over the reserved list for months now especially after the rule on proxies and with the release of Eternal Masters which is not Legacy Masters or Vintage masters suggests something more. He believes that there is a new format coming based on the evidence and decides that because of his popularity in the community he could say something on it. Odds are his post caused an uproar and is what triggered the post from whoever it was saying there is no new format. Personally I'll still trust his card spoils but the vague stuff I'll stay away from.
He's only had one batch of accurate card spoils. Any since the initial BFZ one have all been wrong.
I dunno. Timing can be tricky on predictions. I'll give him 2-4 weeks of a grace period before making any decisions. If news comes out, say, Monday, then he's way more right than wrong.
It's ok Oblivioned One I will still have your back.
I also find it super amusing how great this community is that we're throwing little snark-barbs at Double O after this annnoucement. Magic players are sweet.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
Important to note that Forsythe's wording of his tweet does not preclude them from banning the Reserved List in Legacy. By WotC logic, that is a change to the Banned/Restricted list, not creating or changing the structure of a format.
This would fit MaRo's mention of something big coming and explain why OO heard shocks will spike.
K so any comments from OO? The actual info was the shocklands spike from which OO presumed the announcement of a new format. So there's no new format, but what would be causing the spike?
The spike was caused by the fact that Shocklands were too cheap. There was no reason for them to under $10, they are too good in too many formats. It's just a course correction.

That would be horrible PR, since he would basically be lying in his tweet. Wizard's would get a massive backlash for changing legacy vs creating a new format (which this would basically be doing, as people would start an 'old legacy' format).
Call me petty, but I'm totally claiming not one, but two "I told you so".
Looking back, OO has had exactly one good leak, all the ones after the first was either revealed before, rumored already, obvious predictions or straight up wrong. He's also been conveniently vague every time. I can't believe that you're still looking for a reason that shocks will spike.
And this talk of no RL Legacy that's been going on is the community echo chambering itself into delusion, sparked only from that "what if" thought experiment article over at Goldfish, combined with the set name. It could hypothetically happen, but there is no indications out there that it will, zero. Everything points to the contrary.

Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.
As far as I'm concerned, OO's credibility is shot. He had one good spoil, and I'm counting all of the BFZ content singularly, and his record has been dismal since then. In my estimation, one of two things is true:
1. He's being misinformed by his source(s).
2. He's a dishonest attention seeker grasping at straws, hoping we all buy into it because of his one previous success.
If it's the second, it's kind of annoying to see intentional misinformation spread about. And I get that this is the Rumor Mill; it is not, however, the Deception Forum.

Because some of his "rumors" may lead the more gullible among us to invest in things we would otherwise avoid. Further, it could be construed as taking advantage of his previous (read: only) success. Again, spreading intentional misinformation has the potential to do some damage, not to mention being a lousy thing to do. I can't say that OO is intentionally misleading us, but his string of dubious predictions means that I won't be paying much attention in the future.

All it would take would be a conciliatory tone from OO admitting he was wrong and we move along. I've appreciated some of the material he has brought to the table. Problem is like many here on the site they have problems admitting they are wrong. We all get things wrong now and again. Admit the mistake and move on, maybe the next one will be accurate. Of course it still could happen even with Forsythe's announcement.
Politeness and decency go a long way. There needs to be more of that on ALL sides.

I can't see that happening. Even though they've just removed Modern PTs, they've invested too much into that format to kill it. The whole purpose behind that format was to create a non-rotating format not subject to the accessibility woes of Reserved List cards. Banning Reserved List cards from Legacy would serve the same function, and Legacy and Modern would cannibalize each other. There's simply no point to it.
But this tweet does not preclude supporting an existing format which currently isn't sanctionable. (EDH/Pauper/Highlander)
It also wouldn't rule out something which would have a major impact on an existing format, such as expanding the Modern pool, or removing cards from the reserved list.

I wonder if his 'source' for the new format claim is the same source that told him about UB Jace. If so, he should really stop listening to anything that person says lol
I'll continue taking his leaks as more likely than not, since (and correct me if I'm wrong here) his track record is still something like 75-80% correct. I really don't get why he gets so much hate from these forums: he gets dumped on the moment he claims anything, then, as this thread shows, the dumping increases tenfold when he's wrong. Am I just missing the pages and pages of flak that every other leaker gets when they're wrong, or is it really only OO that gets this treatment?
Either way, O-bone, maybe you should take a little break from posting leaks from less than reliable sources.

Either way, O-bone, maybe you should take a little break from posting leaks from less than reliable sources.
His track record at this point is closer to 50-50, and he honestly hasn't "spoiled" anything unique since his original BFZ spoilers. The most recent "correct" leaks he had were:
1. Something from the Eldrazi decks would be banned in modern.
2. "Exceptional Masters" was coming out this spring.
The first is a joke of a leak. Everybody and their mother knew at that time something was being banned. It's the type of prognostication that simply couldn't be wrong. Would you think I have an inside source if I told you that tomorrow the sun is going to rise? Of course not. Everybody bloody well knows that. And everybody knew that a piece from the Eldrazi decks was going to be banned when he said it. Hell, Forsythe even confirmed as much well before OO made his post.
The second is some serious Nostradamus level prediction. Eternal Masters as a concept has been talked about for some time; in fact the term Eternal was even thrown around here and there every once in a while. There were people last year after MM15 was released contemplating Eternal Masters being this summer's release set. Not only did he get the name wrong, he also got the timing wrong. He also stated that there would be *no* modern cards in the set at all. He got *just* enough right that people believe he has a source and for them to ignore the vary glaring mistakes he made.
To be blunt, I'm willing to say he has no inside source. His only true to life leaks were in BFZ block, and were all in one shot. Realistically, he leaked 4 different cards (As the Battle Lands are all the same, all it would take is seeing one to put the rest together).
So he was correct 4 times. He was dead wrong on at least three occasions I can think of more recently. On two occasions his prediction was obvious, and on another he people are ignoring the fact that he wasn't even right about.
His track record throwing the last two out (Because I'm not giving him credit for "leaking" a ban from Eldrazi when literally everyone on the planet knew it was coming) is *actually* 4-3, which is closer to 57%. Even including "exceptional masters", we are still only at 62%.
And keep in mind his track record has been *abysmal* for the past few months. People chock this up to perhaps he's being flushed out. Frankly, I don't buy that. I think he accidentally through some manner saw some cards from BFZ. How that happened is anybody's guess, from a LGS getting product early to being a third party in a conversation he was never meant to be a part of, to randomly stumbling on something he wasn't supposed to.
At this point I am pretty willing to say he has no "inside source". He was a one-and-done leaker. His leaks were quite likely a singular accident.
