It is almost as if opening packs to make money is a pretty bad idea. Who would've known?

IMO, he'll make for a good reanimation target in draft, if nothing else.
Given that it costs 3RRR instead of 4RR, and that the set feature the strongest cards throughout Magic's history (supposedly) I think it would have been acceptable.

Difference is $3 to get a rare of that value feels better than spending $10 to get 50 cents. Easier to justify a $3 impulse buy than a $10 one when both don't yield the quality you want out of them.
In the end it is about making sure you feel the booster was worth it and with reprint sets like these value is a big thing. For Standard value fluctuates wildly from week to week sometimes so suddenly your Dark Petition could be worth 50 cents and the next week $7 just because someone found something interesting, but here we know what the cards are worth and what we are spending to get them, which is why such statements like these are said.
While opening bulk rares is sucky, also remember that there are plenty of value uncommons in EMA, so even if you get a terrible rare you sill *might* get a Cabal Therapy or Bloodbraid Elf to soothe you slightly
Huh. That's... a thing, I guess? Dragonstorm spoiler coming soon?
Art does not at all look like Rorix. He has a very distinctive look and this just looks like a big dragon from Tarkir. Art got mixed up and no one noticed?
I much prefer this art than the misplaced t-rex head on an undersized serpent body version.
Quite surprising how well this card has aged. Even to this day, a 6/5 hasty flier for six is nothing to scoff
Well, it's a bit weaker than Thundermaw Hellkite just like Silvos, Rogue Elemental might be a bit weaker than Terra Stomper. Still, uncommon is a stretch for either. They're going to destroy someone in limited with little recourse a lot of times.
He looks even goofier now. It's kinda telling how far dragons have come when this guy's meh now. Like, before it was just this guy and Kilnmouth Dragon. Then with a bit of a mind slip we were into the time spiral and nothing's ever been the same...
I wish to join the chorus of people bemoaning the art. This is a legendary creature: it's supposed to be the same individual as Rorix Bladewing.
They look nothing alike. It's true that the new art is super generic, and would never give me an artist jolly, but they didn't even try to make it look like Rory. Sure, the new Prodigal Sorcerer isn't Tim (and is pretty generic fantasy art), but there is more than one Prodigal Sorcerer out there. There's only one Rorix, and this is a poor imposter.
Meeh. Not a card I want to open ever. At least they gave it new art so it can go in my dragon collection...but like everyone is saying, that doesn't look like Rorix.
Maybe it's just a lack of nostalgia for me, but I like this art better. A dragon like Rorix should feel threatening, and the old art honestly made me laugh. It always looked to me like he'd have enormous trouble supporting his head.

I feel the same way. The old art feels like he has been distorted by some spell or something.
New cheap card with new art for my dragon collection is always welcome.
Fixed it for you.

I still maintain this is for Dragonstorm though. When I think about Reanimation targets, Inkwell Leviathan, Blazing Archon, Akroma, Angel of Wrath and Sphinx of the Steel Wind are the cards that come to my mind, not a hardcastable 6/5 flyer.

Also, aren't Masters packs guaranteed a foil?

Ugh... just look at that generic art: Rorix Bladewing. Ugh.
