I love the simplicity of the text. They chose not to muddle it up with flavor text, just counterspell: it counters a spell. Art is quite cool too, should look good in foil.

It's far from being clearly the worst art, and when you talk about a subjective thing like art, it has to be clearly worse.

Honestly surprised this isn't uncommon, but I won't complain about it, always a good card and at least we have a decent common one won't hate to open, especially in foil.
I ruled out Counterbalance when they revealed Top. No way they're going into the same environment on purpose again, which is a shame since Counterbalance was one of my reprint five. Also probably sinking on my top five is Dark Depths.

Yeah, Counterbalance was one of my five, too. But I thought given we were silly enough to have Worldgorger Dragon / Animate Dead, we might also be silly enough to have CounterTop. How wrong was I.
