Not a fan of Symbiotes new art, but after that things are fine here. I am surprised to see a reprint from something as late as Origins, but it isn't a huge deal, it is a decent card.
This set is getting ridiculous. Goodbye msrp. Hopefully I'll get to draft it once or twice before it disappears. Definitely not disappointed with the spoils thus far. Also being a commander player with roughly two dozen decks, top makes me very happy
I'm having a hard time visualizing that top coming from Kamigawa... and I don't think we have another plane that uses the word "Sensei" for us to justify that top coming from elsewhere.
Well, functionally the card is going to keep a lot of people happy. Definitely not surprised with this rarity change, considering what happened to Aether Vial.

my guess is they wanted to push elf tribal in limited
YES! I've been needing a Top for my Keranos deck. I love that it has new art, but I'm confused... it doesn't look Kamigawa themed. It actually looks Kaladesh themed. Huh?
Welp, I think I'm out of the box contest - was kind of expecting Top to be left out of EMA for the same reason it's banned in Modern (massively dragging out the time of a round when it's in play). Guess that's not as much of a thing at rare, when most of the time there's only going to be one per deck at most, and there aren't quite as many deck-shuffling effects readily available. *shrug* Oh well.
Also, Elves being a draft archetype means there'll be plenty at common, which significantly increases the likelihood of me actually finding cards that I'd use in one of my casual decks out of the few EMA boosters I'll probably end up buying. So that's a plus.

Puts me out as well: I thought Top was just too much of a time-eater for them to reprint it in a set "balanced for Draft."

Cards are game pieces, and should be treated as such, easily replaceable.
Cards are not money, investments, or a retirement fund, and should never have been treated as such.
Wizards made a mistake caving to speculators once, and we still pay for that mistake 2 decades later.
"Entitled:" the entire ad hominem fallacy condensed into a single word. It doesn't strengthen your argument to attack motivations, it just makes you look like you don't understand the argument.

It's balanced by the fact that Top is borderline unplayable in limited.

Whenever someone claims to hate blue I automatically assume they're a bad player.
Oh man, old top art is far superior, IMO. Balance? Terrible choice. I haven't been able to play that card since about 10 years ago when my LGS was populated by new and very casual Magic players who played anything goes multiplayer. There wasn't a better choice for a white mythic? I mean normally I'm against cards I want at mythic rare, but if you're going to put some all-star cards like Jace, V Tutor and Karakas at mythic, then you kind of have to make the rest of the mythics something pretty worthwhile or players get that extremely feels bad man moment when they open a Balance or Worldgorger instead of one of the other money mythics.
I'm really surprised to see a card that's currently in Standard here!
Also, can storm be a non-blue archetype? Otherwise, with UB out and eternal storm having to be black we have to rule it out...
Well, I can't talk for Legacy-level, but I've definitely seen mono-red storm decks at my kitchen table. Grapeshot and Empty the Warrens have a lot to answer for (even Ignite Memories, believe it or not).
I mentionned this because eternal masters's storm should feature tendrils of agony and one of therituals.
I thought blue was the natural color to pair with but let's hope it's going to be the br archetype then.
Yeah, definitely agree with you there... I'd have thought that it would need blue to float as an archetype in this environment, given we're already clearly going to see potentially draftable Elves, Reanimator and D&T archetypes. But who knows? Red has always been good enough in other formats. Maybe we're wrong. Fingers crossed, huh?
