Wizards proving that Mythics aren't going to be tournament staples is a point to prove in sets like Dragon's Maze, where they did the opposite.
In sets like this the argument is just disgusting, and more than abused.
This set makes me want to vomit already. Simply because of cards like this even making the set, let alone the rarity warranted.
Look at black. Both of the mythics spoiled for it are banned in legacy. Worldgorger is at least legacy legal in old combo decks that have been outdated.
Hell, they could have printed Blood Moon or Goblin Guide at mythic. People would have complained anyways about the rarity bump, but the monetary value is still there. There's neither with WG.

I'm aware....please don't remind me....it's kind of painful....
Down goes the rumor Chain Lightning could be mythic. And red has the spot for the worst (pricewise) mythic again.
There are very, very few Red cards worth more $30, if you look at the cheapest printings of each card that is (i.e not counting Alpha/Beta printings).
Here is the list:
Imperial Recruiter
Blood Moon
Ali from Cairo
Sneak Attack
Goblin Guide
Magus of the Moon
And...that's it? You might count Zodiac Dragon too, but that's not a playable card.
True dat. It's going to be interesting to see if they're game enough to reprint Blood Moon, Imperial Recruiter and/or Goblin Guide at rare in this set. I'd even take Wheel of Fortune with the new Judge Promo art.
Red is somewhat a victim of a lot of its good cards being very functional and not automatically game-winning on resolution - not something you'd want to stick at mythic. Out of the list above, Sneak, Ali from Cairo and maybeBlood Moon are the only ones that really feel mythic in any sense. I don't think you could argue that Recruiter, Guide or Magus of the Moon are winning you the game on resolution. And so red gets stuck with crappy value mythics that feel mythic but aren't worth anything. Poor red, nothing ever changes, does it...

That's not what Maro said when he introduced the mythic rarity. He said they wouldn't print utility cards at mythic, things like fetches (which did get printed in Zendikar as rares. Fetches in KTK were also rares even though Polluted Delta was $100 at the time). He didn't say that there would never be mythic tournament staples.

Wheel of Fortune is on the reserved list. It was only a judge promo because it was made before the premium loophole was closed.

Dammit! I thought I was in the clear with that one... didn't know they had Judge Promo reserved list reprints as well as FtV ones!
*goes off to sadly look up the price of Wheel*
Raise your hand if you thought that every single mythic rare in this set would be a high value Legacy staple!
... didn`t think so.
This card sucks balls, but junk mythics aren`t something to be surprised by. There`s always at least one or two. Without a worthless card like this, we`d be unlikely to see both Jace and Mana Crypt, because they have to even out the EV. And hey, I`d rather have this at mythic and, say, Blood Moon or Goblin Guide or Imperial Recruiter at rare, than the other way around. My main concern about this red mythic slot is Imperial Recruiter, because I don`t see them printing that at rare, and that card really needs a reprint. I mean, come on.

It would be fine with a high print run 4 dollar pack sold everywhere. This is an "exclusive" low print run, limited sales site, specialty set that someone is going to pop down MSRP of $10 then pull this piece of utter refuse out of it. I've pre-ordered a box for my son as a graduation present and I'm not looking forward to see him cracking one or two mythics and this one will be guaranteed to be one of them. Wizards does this set after set MMA, MM2 and now this turd of a card at mythic after we tell them time and time again. I understand and others as well that every rare and mythic can't be high dollar cards. But there is a vast pool of decent value rares out there (3 to 5 dollar range) that could be in there instead. And I'm tired of hearing the "its for draft" justification as well. Eternal is not for draft, its for constructed.
Bad form Wizards.

Can you imagine being the kind of person who gets angry over what cards Red, with historically some of the worst mythic-y cards in the game, gets at mythic? But no, Worldgorger Dragon at Mythic makes every other card in the set utterly irrelevant...

So huh can the guys wishing for animate dead and entomb continue wishing for stuff in this thread? Like random 100$ bills slipped in packs. Or better, 100$ bills slipped in packs containing WGD?

Yes, please. I already called Daze in the contest thread and I had Entomb on the reprint list too.

Replacing one of Wayne England's most iconic pieces a few months after he died probably would have been in bad taste.
