These lumped up announcements to future products are due to the trademarking process that WotC has to go through each year. If Wizards doesn't release this information to the public first, some lurkers looking through patent and trademark documents on the web would.
I checked this morning, there was nothing trademarked yet.
Is it just me, or is this "Announcement Day" method a horribly dull way to introduce products? "Oh, hey, here's the next block name. Oh, and the name of its second set. Oh, and commanders are 4-color. Also some Planechase stuff and a Duel Deck." No enthusiasm, only 1 art between all the stuff, no set symbols or previews, and way too much at once to really process? I'd be more hyped by a single one of these announcements in full than by this train of "meh".
It is not just you, I had the same thought.
Well, it still some info about what's coming up but sure, they could've given us more details.
Glad that intro packs are going away (they were useless anyway) but the new product is not aimed at established players too.
BTW Eternal Masters spoilers weren't supposed to start today?
Looks like Wizards is going to be very busy, its glad there will finally be 4 color commanders (being able to do 4 color through 5 color commanders is a bit of a annoyance, its also good to have more than 1 four color legend now. That is a very busy schedule it looks like the for summer, look forward to release after release after release. (I also look very forward to conspiracy)
There are no words for the anger, hate, and disappointment I feel at these being four-colored and not allied.
I was looking forward to nee dimir goodies, not them struggling to give an identity to what is essentially just the lack of a color. And without reprinting fetches and duals, the manabases are going to be so bad...and just, ugh.
Are you gonna ***** in every single thread about every single release and every single card that it doesn't cater to your Dimir decks? It's getting old.

On topic: 4-color should be interesting, really exited to see how they address the color pie identity of missing only a single color.
I think this is more related to trademarking and also investors more than just a way to show off their future products. Wizards of the Coast (or Magic) need to proof their investors that they are actually working on something and that there are positive changes in their product lines. I say this because I've seen this in other companies, specially in video games and other leisure stuff but I think it's the same thing.

Only if you keep *****ing about me *****ing.
I did it first time in my life, but apparently it's more than enough to tilt you off the face of the universe.
I work in a casino with a bunch of drunk gambling addicts yelling at me in about a dozen different languages. Nothing you say or do can put me on tilt dear.

This strikes me as a major issue, given how WotC seems unwilling to reprint manafixing lands worth more than a dollar in Commander precons. On the plus side, the Vivid lands actually make some sense here.
Bad manabase from an optimization standpoint, but from a "baby's first EDH deck" standpoint, you could get by with a ton of tapped lands and some color producing mana rocks like Coldsteel Heart.
I know this might disappoint some of the people that have been wanting these, but I honestly hope they're Shard colored with the remaining color symbol somehow woven in. I feel like this would be one of the better options as it would be easier to cast and maybe even just used as a Shard commander with splashes of the other color. Design-wise, I'm not interested in seeing 4 colors forced into the top right corner.
As for the land base, I have a strong suspicion each deck will need Amulet of Vigor.
So with commander decks typically having 3 commander choices, one of which that's always been a reprint... I wonder if they'll make the original Nephilims legendary.
Eh. I'd have preferred allied colored Commanders. If there are cool cards in the decks I'm cool with it, though. Hopefully the Legendaries are interesting too. We all know anything Theros themed is going to be welcome by me.
Kaladesh... eh. I wanted Egyptian World. And if not that, then Vryn. I didn't like Kaladesh but whatever. MTG has been crazy anyway so I don't mind sitting out a set.

An errata like that in this day and age? No way.
Then how do they do a reprint legendary for 4 colors? It's not like anyone would be upset by that errata.
They may break form and just have two commanders (one main and then one alternate), or they could just make 3 for each color...which seems a bit of a stretch. There's nothing written in stone that there has to be three commanders of which one is a reprint just because that's what they have done the last couple releases. I think I would bet on two new legendaries and a reprint of the Nephilim as the third "commander". Lots of people house rule them as eligible anyway.

Seems more likely they will add a statement like the commander planeswalkers. This way it doesn't change their use in normal constructed but would allow them to be a general.

Maro has stated many times that they do not errata cards like this anymore, so I feel they wouldn't make the exception for just this product. It will most likely have 4 new legendary creatures since there are no 4 color legendary creatures right now or reprint two / three color legendary creatures. I'm thinking two new and two old, the two new being 4 color since they normally give us two matching the color identity of the decks.

Nice catch, maybe that means we will go back to getting a cycle of off brand commanders like Basandra, Battle Seraph and friends.
