I think everyone is looking too far into it. Look at previous Commander decks. They are pretty hodgepodge, with very light themes built in. I don't think these decks are going to be any more focused than previous ones we've gotten.

I don't think they're going to bother divvying up the trios, tricolor cards aren't going to constitute nearly as much of the card count as dualcolor cards and they'll likely have four trilands in each deck anyway. In a quad deck, trilands provide one of the two pairs + a color from the other pair, making them especially useful, and tricolor cards likewise can be seen as 1 1/2 pairs of the quad in question.
That said, I half-expect to see the FRF Khan and Mythic cycles reprinted, as hybrid mana could be a very useful tool for quad deckbuilding. We might also see some Alara Reborn cards like the Shardblade cycle and Thopter Foundry.

Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
What if they printed 2 commanders for each deck with a special rule that you could have two... Like planeswalker commanders... But with two... Like an WU and a GB, with the rule: "you can use both X and Y at the same time as your commander." Just a stray thought.
EDIT: Fits together with that whole two guilds coming together thing.
Its not that wild a note. I mean, it has been mentioned on just about every single page now.
I just don't see the need for new WU or RG or BG or etc. commanders, but I guess we never know (until we do :P)

I suggested that earlier in the topic. It would be one of several subtle incentives to buy multiple decks, something that Wizards has done in the past like by putting Primal Vigor into the Prossh deck despite the fact it feels tailor made for Marath. I like the idea of ten such legends that allow you to make any three or four-color combination.

Interesting, on one hand i hate to see meta text like "Can be commander" on legendaries or planeswalkers, really breaks the flavor. On other hand i would really prefer them to be two-colored commanders instead of four-colored abominations.
I think we'll get at least one general for each color combination that are 4 colored and cost CMC of 4. I also think we'll get one that has hybrid mana or at least colored activation costs.

There's no reason to make each of them CMC 4.
They're already above the threshold for Tiny Leaders,
so there isn't much to gain by forcing a CMC on them.
That said, I'm sure a couple of them will cost 4,
but I'm also fairly sure we will see some which cost 5 or more.

This is a false assumption.
Firstly, the commanders could be ANY color and ANY cost!!
For instance, you could have a legendary elf that costs one green mana, but his abilities have the other three colors, thus giving him all 4 color identities

Cmon guys, think outside the box here
That's not really outside the box. It's been mentioned too. So far the three things that tend to be tossed around are...
1. Traditional, straight forward four color.
2. Four color identity but not four color cost.
3. A more out of the box kind of option that would be new, like the duo commanders idea.
I'm not sure I've seen anything else in the third category off the top of my head, but I could be wrong.

How about:
4. Two/three mana cost, hybrid a/b & hybrid c/d. That way you get your Tiny Leaders commanders as well.

They love and hate to see me walk through the door. I'm the man with the box, one to carry all his Standard cards with him. I've got the commons and uncommons they need. But I've also got my decks. If I walk into FNM, I came to play. And they never know what I'm gonna pull out of my hat next. I may lose more than I win, but it just might be THIS deck that has all the answers that they don't have answers for. They fear the unknown. They fear me. And they never see me coming!

Vitality counters do not get removed when changing zones. Each vitality counter reduces a commanders casting cost by 4.

How is it different from Karakas? If once per round I bounce your commander (during the end fase) it is just a reprint of Karakas that would be banned in commander and played in legacy (D&T) to circumvent the "legendary rule" of Karakas.
While it's possible they create 4 color legends who do not have 4 symbols in the upper right corner I don't think they will. They need to put out a Commander set eveyr year now, so they need to conserve the design space to make each feel special. It then only feels logical to have 2 or 3 commanders with all 4 symbols in the upper right corner to pick the low hanging fruit. Variants are probably saved for a commander set a few years down the road.

We will be getting three (or possibly only two) four colored commanders in each deck, because that is what people are expecting, and have been asking for ever since they printed the Nephilim. There is zero reason to even entertain the idea that this is not the case, and discussing the possibility that it isn't so is an exercise in futility and a waste of everyone's time.
We would be using or time much more creatively by discussing what themes the decks may have.
For example, I posit that the nonred deck will have an exalted (sub)theme, because it is a mechanic that exists in all color except red, and a viable commander for a four color exalted deck is a good idea.

lol? Legendary permanent? So strictly better than Karakas? I think not.
They could make them like the volvers from Apocalypse or the hybrid cards like firespout. That they do something else depending on the colors of mana used to cast them.

They've already said they don't plan to take this approach (I'm on mobile but I can find a source later if you can't). Designing around what colors cannot do doesn't make for particularly interesting design.

Well, the point I was going to make is that it is a simple and elegant design for the deck in question. Doesn't matter that it is not the main theme if it supports it. Well be getting three new legendary creatures (most likely) for each of the five decks. Each of those legends need to be functionally different from the others, and there is only so much a card can do and still be a four color card. Sure, they can do a card that is basically four different keywords on a card and call it a day, but that would be boring and uninspired. And the designspace for four color cards is extremely limited according to MaRo, so looking back at what the four colors in question is good at, as well as what mechanics they share (and expand on that) is simply efficient design. A BRGW creature with Exalted and a few triggered/activated abilities would not be out of the question.

Just a thought: RW are the lifelink on spells color, but B and G also good at lifegain (through lifelink and spells). Maybe the WBRG one can be the legendary version of Tamanoa, working on all sources you control instead of just noncreature? 10/10 would play.
