Why on earth do you want that in the set?
I mean, there are old frame foils, new frame non-foils, new frame foils ... it's cheap ...
What do you hope to get out of a EMA reprint ?
The far superior art from Vintage Masters?
It's funny you say that, because that was the art from the DotP 2013 goblin deck, which was my first real experience with the card. You can imagine my disappointment when I saw what the paper one looked like...
I think that wizards would be stupid to put ALL of the goodies in EMA. I think people are forgetting conspiracy 2. Conspiracy 1 got good stuff like stifle, misdirection, and reflecting pool. I bet some of the cards that feel like they would belong here actually end up in conspiracy instead.
While there are several hits in this set that I like, I'm disappointed there's no REB, BEB, Pyroblast or Hydroblast. I mean seriously, where ELSE could they reprint these cards? I hope they're at least in Conspiracy 2.
I'm actually mildly disappointed that no one questioned the initial "it's real" "confirmation" coming from a non-RM global. I even had a backstory cooked up to make it work and everything.
The problem with April fool's jokes is they kind of depend on the timezone.....Not much of an April fool if it goes on till April the 2nd. Its probably late evening on April the second in Australia....)

For what it's worth, I live in the Pacific time zone, so this actually ended around 11 PM my time. I do understand that most users are in a later time zone than I am, but sometimes things wind up getting based on my time rather than later times. It would've ended a bit sooner, but I didn't get home from FNM until the late evening/early night.
Just as an announcement for everyone, the reason this is going up on April 1 is for plausible deniability. This list has been cut with some intentionally false cards to help hide our source's identity—the list we received was from a preliminary file and may not represent the final product, and as such posting the specific version we received could lead to legal action if we don't handle this carefully. However, I can confirm that the bulk of this list is accurate. We were always ready for the "lol April Fool's" thing, so I'm just posting this as a heads-up that it's a bit more than that.
Just following up on this to affirm legitimacy. We aren't at liberty to reveal the source, but they have provided us with rumors as far back as Ninth Edition.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
Pretty good April Fools' you guys. Maybe next year the mods can lock all the trade threads or something else equally inconvenient to Magic finance as an endorsed fake spoiler.
Are people still seriously dense enough to say that enemy fetches won't be in the set? We were explicitly told that Wizards will not be doing half-cycles of lands in block sets. We got the allied fetches in Khans, couple Wizards' statement with other hints, the enemy fetches will be in Dragons. You have to be a complete idiot to believe otherwise.
msun: Knives scoop ice cream.
Highroller: No they don't, knives don't scoop. Spoons scoop.
msun: Well, knives SHOULD scoop icecream.
Highroller: We have spoons that do it. Moreover, the shape of a knife that would scoop ice cream would make it horrible for performing the functions of a knife.
msun: Highroller, you bring up spoons as though they were the utensil used for scooping ice cream.

Did you make a financial decision based on information revealed on April 1st?

We did consider possibility of someone making a financial decision based on this April Fool's prank. In the end, we decided to go through with it because not all April Fool's events need to identify themselves loudly as such, and anyone who was going to make any major financial decisions in the next little while would presumably be waiting for the banned/restricted list update first.
The story I gave was that it was a preliminary list, and that some things had been changed around on top of that (the given reason being that doing so would help keep the leaker safe by not allowing Wizards to track down who had access to a given set list development revision). Decisions based around that kind of information are always a gamble, and the details as presented meant speculation would've carried significant risk. In the end, while I agree that it could cause some embarrassment or hurt feelings in people who did believe the list was real, as any April Fool's prank can do, I wouldn't agree that it was irresponsible of us.
I didn't, but the fact that someone else could have underscores how irresponsible this prank was.
People actually lost their jobs because of the Gmail April Fool's prank. This is nothing and you're being thin-skinned.
I don't know what it is with people always taking such offense to this stuff.
ITT: LOOK AT ME! I'M OFFENDED! I CAN'T STAND OUT OTHERWISE! UGH!
inb4 this was a meta-meta April Fool's prank and the real prank was telling people that it was a prank

As someone who *did* make financial decisions based off of your lie: you argument has no credibility. These cards are *reprints,* and as such, are not things we should be concerned about being banned/restricted. Predominantly, what I am speaking about are the Zendikar fetches. There is absolutely and utterly no way that the Zen fetches are being banned in any format - so, when I saw from a global moderator that "the bulk of the list is true," I went ahead and purchased Zen fetches before they shot up even higher. I really don't feel like spending $100 per Scalding Tarn, and, since both a global mod and an administrator endorsed the list as "mostly true," I felt fairly safe putting my trust in the credibility of this list. The mods of this site putting their backing behind something like this list *gave it credibility.* Now, for me at least, this site's credibility is shot.
Am I embarrassed by my decisions? Well, honestly, no. I trusted a site that, in the past, has always weighed its decisions carefully when dealing with the financial side of things. I didn't think this site, and the moderators and admins thereof, would completely lie about expensive cards being reprinted (Imperial Recruiter, again not likely to be banned) or not reprinted (Zen fetches).
Are my feelings hurt? Well, whenever you have trusted someone for a long time and they let you down, your feelings are bound to get hurt. I was a member (albeit under a different name) of "that other rumor site" before it went belly up. I joined this site way back then (again, different account), and have seen how carefully you watch your Rumor Mill. A global mod's/admin's endorsement of a spoiler is a stamp of approval - especially when you say, "the bulk of this list is real."
Luckily, I can afford this (or else I wouldn't have made the purchase). What about the guy who makes minimum wage and sees Imperial Recruiter being reprinted, and puts his trust in the mods and admins of this site to realize that people *do* make financial decisions based off of their word? Yes, this list, and the endorsement of it, was irresponsible. Of course it was.

Well said. It is one thing to make a joke, but moderators should be able to be trusted when they say something is real. If not, how can one respect that authority. I didn't make a deciscion based on this list, but I almost did. I was going to Zen Fetches for modern, but considering the date I decided to wait a day to see how this turned out.
Part of having authority is being trusted to use this authority wisely. Now why should anyone trust a mod who confirms something as real?
The whole thing was lame, to say the least, and I agree that it was completely irresponsible. They went out of their way to assure us that the list was legit.
Mods: It's totally real. Us: Nah. Total April Fool's joke. Mods: Nope. Totally real. We're protecting the guy's anonymity from Wizards. Us: I don't know, still seems kinda fishy. Mods: Trust us, guys. It's totally legit. Us*: Alright, cool. Sweet list! Mods: Gotcha! You guys totally believed it! SUCKERS!!! We totally got you!
It's ******* bull*****, and now these same ********s are going to issue me an infraction or whatever for flaming or cursing. **** you. Write yourself a damn citation.

Lol! People getting mad at a joke. I personally hope you people who made "financial decisions" based of this get screwed really bad. You have no one to blame but yourselves and your poor decision making. I'll be celebrating your losses tonight! Cheers!

Saying something isn't a joke, then going a step further and saying that posting it on that date was to strategically protect the poster, is just a lie and not a prank. Had those assertions been absent, the whole thing would've been harmless. It's a classic 'not thinking before you act' kind of thing on the mods' part.
