I honestly don't even think this card is as big a clue as Paranoid Parish-Blade just because of the stylistic differences because of artists... but yeah. This combines the lattice AND the tentacles I suppose.
Also, "bear trap launcher" was exactly my first though too, and I hope that's what it is because that's absolutely hilarious.
I'm not convinced the Big Bad is even anyone we've met yet (unless you count Nahiri). We're dealing with Horrors in Innistrad, not Eldrazi. Emrakul probably isn't due to reappear for another two or three blocks.
Besides, Nahiri has explicitly stated she's doing all this to get revenge on Sorin. And as far as she knows, Emrakul's still stuck on Zendikar.
This is just as bad a set for constructed as Battle for Zendikar was. Wizards these days is just hiding behind the flavor. You're all being blinded by some lame investigating story. The cards are low powered and uninteresting. And this time there aren't even any expeditions to buy packs for. Innistrad draft was fun because you had cool archetypes like Burning Vengeance and Spider Spawning. There's nothing like that in this set. Stop being such fanboys and wake up and realize the crap set you have all been served. Oh and blue is complete trash. Like actual hot flaming garbage. There's also a lot of really weak versions of previous Innistrad cards. An aura that is so bad to honor Geist of Saint Traft. A really horrible Delver of Secrets. What a bad bad bad bad set
If I remember correctly, the Spider Spawning and Burning Vengeance limited archetypes were solved only several weeks after release, and here you are dissing the set without having played a single game yet. I assure you that interest and yet unexpected draft archetypes will be found as well in this set.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
This set looks great for limited..... but pretty weak for standard. Reminds me of Battle for Zendikar 2.0. I think we are going to be welcoming back some dragons of tarkir for a little while... There are some good cards here, but very few. I'm sure many will get played, but only because there's just not that much else with this coming after Zendikar. For tribal EDH players, yeah, there is a lot here, but for standard... not much to be excited about. Like someone before mentioned, the pushed cards don't seem to have enough support. Remember how strong the Dragons of Tarkir cards still are.
Looks like most of the synergy is concentrated in BR Vampires and UB Zombies. Spirits didn't get much while WR Humans and GR Werewolves are somewhat lacking. Good set nonetheless.

Mindwrack Demon is covered in the Lattice that supposedly goes hand in hand with Emrakul's corruption. So are numerous other things. And Nahiri's actions only really make sense if you consider her "Innstrad will suffer as Zendikar has suffered" to be a direct "These things are on my plane because of you, now they'll be on yours."

Cyme we inne frið, fram the grip of deaþ to lif inne ðis smylte land.
I'll admit, this is the first I've heard about a lattice associated with Emrakul. Must not be looking in the right places. Although I thought madness was Kozilek's province; I expected time-space warping from Emrakul. It may also be that I wasn't expecting to see devoid in Eldritch Moon.
I think part of it is that I expected the Drownyard Temple to be an ancient thing, not newly minted by Nahiri; ditto the cryptoliths. I thought she was just taking advantage of their presence, and that the Big Bad was some profoundly ancient native menace that predated even the vampires and werewolves (think along the lines of Ravnica's Utmungr/Old Gods).
I know it's a combat trick, and they're not usually anything to be excited about, but is it just me or is Tenacity a pretty insane combat trick in limited? I mean, 4 mana is up there for a trick, but giving your whole board +1/+1, lifelink, and untapping them all can be a massive beating for blocking, and a huge lifeswing in your favor. Or even just in attacking sometimes. It's definitely going to be a card you have to think about if your opponent's board is tapped down but they have 3W available.
I want the Nahiri for my collection and other than that the only card I care about is the 1cmc dispel for sorceries.
Pretty lame set for my taste. The flavor way overdid the cards that came along. Most things don't fit and a lot of stuff is not really meaningful to the story-telling either way.

Ugin said emrakul disappeared
And a major spoiler
The clue tokens if you do the Tamiyo journal thing
All 6 tokens do the right words in the right order you get this.
And that Grotesque mutation look at the wrist it's the same skin texture as emrakul and 2 look closely at the tips there's some tint of blue on the tips just like eldrazis
I think this was a really good set all things considered. A lot of interesting powerful cards, not just obvious value town cards but things that need a proper deck build to work. Looks like a fun Limited though that isn't my thing. Good art, compare Pale Rider of Trostad to most of the Zendikar block. Very nice and interesting mechanics, some eternal format playables. Going down the spoiler list, I find a lot of UNCOMMONS that look as exciting as a normal sets rares. I was going to list them all, but I realized the list of exciting, interesting, and/or well-designed cards was getting up to half the set in length almost.
neat set. the flavor and the art are home runs. it doesn't appear overly weak at first glance, and it doesn't appear overly powerful either. there are some great build around me cards too. if the big reveal is emrakul though, well, **** that *****. i can't do more eldrazi wrecking up the joint. anyway, its probably just the flavor talking but i've got way more interest in this set than i did in any of the past... uh... 5?

Well, obvious certain regenerating critter is obvious. Shows only how some people's thinking is limited. There are at least two clear archetypes (UG and RB), and I am sure many others will be found.
As for Standard...well, there is not a Snapcaster and LotV. That is clear. Then again, anybody who expects the returns to certain sets/worlds be a carbon copy of the old ones, is deemed to be disappointed.

I don't think we'll see Devoid in EMN, either.
Looking at clues (har har) like Cryptolith Rite,
I'm betting this version of Emrakul is WUBRG.
What other purpose could a card like that serve in a very un-multicolor set like this?
Momir Vig, Simic Visionary

It would cast Emrakul just as well if it's colorless with a generic cost. There could be a 5 color eldrazi, but not Emrakul. That would completely go against the whole lore of the eldrazi titans. It is going to be colorless and highly likely to be 15/15, flying, and have some amount of its non-annihilator abilities.

I love MTG!
I love DragonLance!
A Mythos reference in the same post that you point out a fish-eyed cultist and you don't mention the Innsmouth look? tsk, I say, sir, tsk.

Whoever picked the names for the cards did a great job as well. I'd like to hear some of the backstory behind that.

I like how a couple of cards from Origins can see new life (Avaricious Dragon, Demonic Pact has a couple of outlets, etc)
So much this.
Well, that is exactly why I said "another". The Shadows over Innistrad/Innsmouth thing was discussed to death in last 2 months ;-)
