What i dont like bout Thalias Lieutnant is his anti-synergy. If you wanna get him big, you have to Play him early & in that stage you may not have many other Humans to grow. If you wanna grow as many Humans as possible, you have to Play him later, but then he will grow much slower. Fail ?

& to Empathogen above: My sig is much better ^^
You're looking at him wrong. It's a creature that generates one +1/+1 counter for each other Human, regardless on whether that Human is already on the battlefield or played later. Its abilities do not play together, but instead cover each other weaknesses, like Raging Kavu.

Respectfully disagree, but I can absolutely see your point. If you play a one drop followed by this and assuming you're only playing humans, then he simply reads as:
"When this creature enters the battlefield, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature you control. Whenever you play another creature, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature."
For two mana, that's still pretty good. It lets you attack for three on turn two if you had a 2/1 human on turn one, which are currently available in standard. Even if you don't, you're playing a Champion of the Parish for one extra mana, which is still OK. When the floor of a card is "OK", you have a good card.
This plus Eerie Interlude or Eldrazi Displacer. Displacer can blink him, permanent anthem for your human dudes (hello Sigarda and other human token maker friends!) Interlude can blink him, or can blink all the humans to make him a much bigger single threat (assuming the humans are not tokens, of course). W/x human weenie deck anyone???
Guess hoping we'd end the week on a high note for once is asking too much?
Eh, Thalia's Lieutenant is a solid little fellow that will have people talking. I'm not a fan personally, but I know some folks who will go ape for this primate. I'm still processing the control magic. I think we are still a tad light on usable discard outlets for the decks that would reliably have enough mana to cast this card for more than x=2, but there's another week's worth of spoilers to go still. I do take your point though, you would think that unless they are planning on doing a major reveal during event coverage on the weekend, they would try to save their splashiest reveals on friday so that we can talk about them all weekend.
Either way, I hope he doesnt get to the ridiculous levels of JTMS
Errr... kinda too late for that
Jace, the mindscultpor was like $150 or more in standard, telepath unbound has never been over $100 (at least I dont think so...not according to TCGplayer..)

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
I seriously hope the green mythic is a werewolf lord. I don't care how silly that sounds. One sided wolf warrior shaman.
didnt we already have 14 mythics ? how many are in this set?
It's the first time in recent Magic history that we have a set with so many cards (297). It wouldn't be surprising to see more Mythics than usual.
Some people think we're getting 20 Mythics, which wouldn't be THAT surprising considering we still have one whole week of spoilers to go. Green still needs its legendary Werewolf too.

Eldrazi Displacer seems like it is going to do a lot of work moving forward. Lots of etb effects to take advantage of.
Eh, I don't think recognizing Welcome to the Jungle makes someone old. Appetite for Destruction had a lot of staying power, it didn't just go away 3 months after its release. Those songs still see radio play on rock stations.
Is the Fold the cult that is responsible for the madness on Innistrad? I wonder.
Also, with Welcome to the Fold, if it were to be discarded by baby Jace at the end of my opponent's turn, could the madness cost be paid even if it's a sorcery?

Yes because it works for creatures so i assume it will work for Sorceries aswell
So, I really want to say that Tahlias Lieutenant could make human weenies a thing in Modern, it's a shot in the dark, but the pieces are there. Champion of the Parish turn 1, followed by the lieutenant in turn 2 is 3 power, followed by a turn 3 Abzan Falconer gives you 6 flying power on two attack ready bodies, and a 3rd 2/3 body. +1 counters are usually weak, but in such an aggressive build, I think it could work. Throw in the soul sisters and you will outlast burn, and with the above plays you can probably aggro the other decks off of the table. There is plenty of recursion engines for low costed cards like these as well. Return to the ranks and Rally the Ancestors. Speaking of those 2 cards, if one of the returned is Thailas Lieutenant, coupled with other humans entering alongside it, will it hit both of its triggers? Let's say you return 5 humans 2 are Thalias Lieutenant, will they put 2 counters on each other human (one on each of the TL), and then have 4 counters placed upon themselves?
Other than the fact that Champion spiked in price on MTGO in the last week leading up to this card spoiler Making me again believe that People are taking advantage of early spoilers to Insider trade...... This card is amazing and Boros/Zoo human decks could see play in Modern soon.

All creatures enter the battlefield at the same time, so they will see each other enter the battlefield which will trigger the ETB abilities. So the 3 other humans will each get 2 counters (one from each thalias lieutenant), and each lieutenants will get 5 counters (4 from the 4 other humans entering, and 1 extra from the other thalias lieutenant.)

I agree, as there is now enough support to put them at that "game winning turn-4 play". There is also plenty of recursion and redundancy support that usually makes up other modern decks. Warden in the first tree gives the deck a second turn 2 3 power creature that, surprise surprise, is also a human. If only the new Sigadra wasn't costed the way she is, it would be the perfect curve topper.

Unfortunately, there is no room left for a green legendary werewolf. The only green flip card on the rare checklist card turned out to be Sage of Ancient Lore / Werewolf of Ancient Hunger. And the only multicolor one is Arlinn Kord / Arlinn, Embraced by the Moon. There is still a chance for a red legendary werewolf flip card though.
