It just occurred to me that this land is designed to work with Nahiri, the Harbinger's +2. Since you might be tapped out on mana when you first activate it, thereby not being able to, say, cast Fiery Temper, you can discard this and bring it back later if you need the mana.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I play Legacy, EDH, and dabble in limited and Modern, so yeah I most certainly play
real
Magic.
Get a load of this guy. EDH is real magic, but Standard is not. Okey dokey then. When can we expect to see the next EDH pro tour, by the way?
And if your 8-drop monsters are playable in EDH, then Drownyard Temple surely isn't going to hurt your ability to cast them.
What's that? I can't hear you over all those creature focused strategies, 2 drop rare mana dorks, 3 mana+ counterspells, 5+ mana wraths and all the other crap clogging up that "format".
Drownyard Temple is a bad card, it won't see much, if any, play outside of Standard, where the only reason it is remotely playable is because the current "in" set was designed around cards that will interact with it. I prefer my formats to not be made for me.

Disagree. In both EDH and Duel Commander Drownyard Temple is an excellent card for certain strategies. Whether it's creating stax style scenarios with Braids, Cabal Minion or Dust Bowl or simple getting more future advantage from Dredge or self discard. I can think of a great number of cards that would love to have an infinitely sacrificial land over time.
I cannot speak for Legacy or Modern but I would shy away from claims that cards are bad or unplayable without doing a good amount of testing or objective thinking on the subject.
As with many cards, disliking it does not cause it to become bad.
The guy talking about his "real magic" is not being format elitist. He is being normal Elitist. He let you know that his two preferred formats are the two most expensive ones by a mile. He mocks standards slower play, yet one of the formats he plays in has the smallest following of people for any format because, once again, it's too expensive. He plays real magic the way people eating caviar are eating "real food". Don't listen to his mindless arrogance. This drownyard has potential in every format, even the "elitist" ones.

And the people in this thread can't hear you over the sound of your arrogance. Putting down other people's preferred format proves nothing, save for the fact that you're an opinionated jerk.
And you claim to play EDH, yet you can't imagine any commanders that would love this? Like, Titania or any other land-centric commander?
That's...really? I saw the card name and was really hoping for something more akin to Nephalia Drownyard. This is just, it taps for 1 colorless mana, woohoo. Oh, and you can pay 3 to get it back into play (tapped) from the yard. Yeah, nothing to write home about.
Really??! A free ramp spell in non green colors is nothing??! Do you play Standard??
It´s a free card to loot with Jace and others similar effects...
No, Standard is a bad format. I don't evaluate cards based on it.
I'm not convinced you play Magic at all, considering that might possibly interfere with your false sense of superiority over everything.
I play Legacy, EDH, and dabble in limited and Modern, so yeah I most certainly play

Odd that you don't like the card though. It is basically only good in EDH.
