That's...really? I saw the card name and was really hoping for something more akin to Nephalia Drownyard. This is just, it taps for 1 colorless mana, woohoo. Oh, and you can pay 3 to get it back into play (tapped) from the yard. Yeah, nothing to write home about.
Really??! A free ramp spell in non green colors is nothing??! Do you play Standard??
It´s a free card to loot with Jace and others similar effects...
No, Standard is a bad format. I don't evaluate cards based on it.
No Modern and Eternal are bad formats considering you're lucky if 5% of the cards from any new set can even make an impact on them.
The cyptoliths point to this ring, and the cryptoliths are redirecting the leylines, so all the leylines are being directed here.
Two possibilities occur to me. First that this concentration of leylines could be a lure to draw Emrakul to the plane, securing Nahiri's revenge. Second, this could be a planar portal powered by the leylines like the Dwarven Gate, and the great evil secret will be brought into Innistrad through it.

Yeah, because for the most part new sets are super weak. I'm sorry, but standard is bad.

Well, only from the point of view of formats in which nearly every busted card of the modern era or even the whole of magic is present. If every set would be strong enough that most of the cards were playable in Modern or even Eternal, Magic wouldn't exist much longer as a game. The power creep would be extreme.
I find this card really interesting actually in my opinion. I bet that there will be quite a few land sac outlets in this set to enable Delirium for example^^

I'm not convinced you play Magic at all, considering that might possibly interfere with your false sense of superiority over everything.
Are people still seriously dense enough to say that enemy fetches won't be in the set? We were explicitly told that Wizards will not be doing half-cycles of lands in block sets. We got the allied fetches in Khans, couple Wizards' statement with other hints, the enemy fetches will be in Dragons. You have to be a complete idiot to believe otherwise.
A land that returns from the GY. Cool! Looks like they made a discardable land to build up your GY for Delirium. Once you have other card types, you can bring it back.

Modern
Competitive: GW Hatebears - UG Infect - BGW Liege Rhino
Casual: GR Titan Ramp - BR Aggro
WIP: BUW Control Mill
This is one of three lands that I know of that can ramp without a spell. The other two cost 5 to ramp, while this costs 3. The other two saw play, so will this.
Seems like a cute addition to UW Flagstones / Perilous Research. Sac the land draw 2, get it back down the road, if you don't happen to have a flagstones around.
Is there a card that allows you to sacrifice land for mana? If so, add Lotus Cobra and you have a deck.
That with 2 lotus cobras and an amulet of vigor gives you infinite mana
That's a great idea
But how does it give infinite
3 Cobras? And plus shoulden't we figure out a way to make it so you can turn that mana in to any color you want?
If so 3$ for this card may be reasonable.
With an amulet of vigor you get 2 mana of any colot from the lotus cobra, tap for 1 colorless and sacrifice for colorless. Spend 2 colorless and 1 colored to revive the land, untap it with amulet and repeat. Infinite mana of any color combination.
It surprises me that there are people who pan this card. This thing is fantastic for control decks running Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, and plays nicely with World Breaker if room can be found.
Well... as far as I gan see on gatherer there are no effects that allow you to sacrifice lands to get mana in modern, but there is one creature that allows you to freely sacrifice lands: coastal hornclaw, with 2 cobras (or 1 cobra + a mana doubler) + amulet you can have an infinite landfall engine.
That's true
Though...
Spitting spider is way better choice you can get rid of the Flyers may have a card to resurrect mine.
I saw spitting spider, but I was looking for direct win conditions for landfall and don't know why I forgot about it
Just beware of Zo-Zu the Punisher... Luckily Ankh of Mishra is not modern playable
I thought it was better because you can eliminate the flyers opponments have outside
And as for the infinite landfall loop just make sure it's not a flyer
Oh by the way if only Zendikar resurgent was modern usable(as in playable) then you can do the infinite mana loop because tapping the land produces 2'colorless instead of 1 then do the Spitting spider or coastal hornclaw then the amulet and the Cobras infinite mana away
A land you can sacrifice multiple times without eating land plays or needing a Crucible is VERY notable.
It may be niche, but it's a niche NO OTHER LAND has yet filled. I think Flagstones of Trokair is the closest thus far on one end and Dakmor Salvage on the other.

I partially agree. The issue here is it only ever produces C. The only deck that comes to mind that wants to sacrifice lands is pox/death cloud (though I probably am not thinking enough about proper homebrews), and, well, you need a lot of black mana. Therefore, Drownyard Temple doesn't work well without Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and at that point, you're better off running Flagstones, since you don't need to have three mana to get something out of sacrificing it. Or you're running Life from the Loam. And if you're running Seismic Assault, you don't want the land returning to the battlefield, so Salvage is still more useful.
Now that I think about it, it might be a decent 1-off (maybe 2) in my casual Wildfire deck. But I'm still not seeing as competitive.

Also, I hate the new 1 colorless mana symbol. I would have been happy if it was a 1 shot for OGW.
Ok a get it you tap the sacrifice able land then sac it
This there anyway to tranfer the trick to modern?
Because Squandered Resources is not printed after the 2009 set (not modern legal.)
And I know the amulet and Cobras are modern legal.

Get a load of this guy. EDH is real magic, but Standard is not. Okey dokey then. When can we expect to see the next EDH pro tour, by the way?
And if your 8-drop monsters are playable in EDH, then Drownyard Temple surely isn't going to hurt your ability to cast them.
