Not really the werewolf I was hoping for, but this one is at least...interesting for EDH if I want to make a werewolf deck. I wish it let you draw a card whenever it transforms too.
Each day while working as a delivery driver, I pass a restaurant called Maro, lol.
This is really making me feel like we're going to get a Legendary werewolf because of the awesomeness this has in multiplayer. Imagine how strong this'll be a 4-player Commander showdown.
Idk why this doesn't draw you a card for flipping back. Huntmaster is still the best midrange werewolf and that sucks.
Do we have to scream "we want werewolves" like we did with dragons to get three or four constructed ones? Geesh.
Huntmaster sucks? That card is excellent.
This preview came the same day as a Werewolf planeswalker.
For most of Magic's history, there were only a couple niche Werewolves. Innistrad dredged up the creature type and developed it. Even if you are for some reason some bizarre mega-fan of werewolves, you've got to be happy with the progress.

On MTGO as Protoman.
On 7/14/10, broke 1900 mark! <3 ROE.
At worst, you have a 2/2 --even if this the only card in your hand it enters the battlefield, triggers a card draw, thus making it a 1/1 and then you equip the blade--and if it transforms you could have, at minimum, a 3/3 vigilant first striker (presuming both players have 0 cards in hand).
Nope. If you cast him with zero cards in hand he'll be a 0/0 when he hits the battlefield, before the card draw ETB trigger even gets on the stack.
State based actions kill him, then you get to draw a card.
TL;DR - cast him with at least one other card in hand.
Not sure if it has Standard applications, but it sure is a fun card.
The werewolf mechanic actually has an odd synergy with the Maro mechanic, since you're probably going to get a full hand anyway. And it cantrips, so at worst, you get a cantrip Maro for 1 more, more or less. When it transforms, it reminds me of Multani, Maro-Sorcerer, albeit losing shroud (mixed) for vigilance (good, but not great) and trample (green needs moar of this).

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

His ability also starts to count other players once he is transformed.
