Deals damage to a planeswalker directly? That's new?
Actually it has shown up on cards Dragonlord Atarka. They use it when they want to deal damage to things on board, without direct damage to burn players.
Also, I think it should have been a Devil Wolf instead of an Elemental.
We've seen better mythics wind up in the bulk bin, even if the ability seems somewhat powerful. Oh well. "Underpowered mythic" design gets more and more transparent every set.

I have a feeling this is mythic largely for limited purposes. That ability, body, and cost are just outstanding in draft.
As for constructed, he likely doesn't make the cut. I can only hope Madness in red is powerful enough to see play in Standard, because part of me really likes this card for some reason, and I want a reason to use it.
Attack, pay 1R, discard Fiery Temper, pay the R madness cost, do 6 damage divided amongst up to two creatures sounds pretty nifty.
Yeh that's a sweet interaction. I can get behind a build your own lighting strike + bolt though not being able to target a player with the discarded cards mana cost damage is unfortunate.
It's really too bad this card doesn't have an extra ability - with haste it would have a shot at constructed play as well. Or maybe hit both the creature/planeswalker and its controller.
As is it's too bad they wasted great art on a mediocre card which is only playable in limited.
Yes. And we should be glad that it's mythic. If it were playable it would just increase to cost of playing. People really need to stop complaining about bad mythics.
Doesn't seem to be mythic to me, but could be fun in casual or a rogue modern deck with Blasphemous Act.... using Blasphemous Act as a sweeper against aggro decks or for 9 to the face a single creature/planeswalker... worth discarding it even without madness cards???...

That would be great, but unfortunately you cannot use his ability to go for the throat. Creature or planeswalker only. So keep tabs on them Boros Reckoners

Read again, this guy does not let you target players. No 9 to the face.

Thanks guys! I misread that... totally changes it to be not nearly as good..
If this guy was Legendary it would feel more mythic. I'm tired of people saying that this is another bad mythic because of its power level. Enough of that attitude, it's what has caused such a degradation of the Mythic philosophy.
I do think this guy should be rare if he isn't legendary. His ability is unique in that it hits planeswalkers, but that's not exactly revolutionary; just on the tip of what I would call unique. It's close, but not quite there. Also, looks very non-wolfy for being our first mythic wolf. That part saddens me.
I'd rather take my random chance with Cragganwick Cremator than have my guy not be able to hit players with my Draco at all, cost tons of mana, and trigger on attack.
Still, the art is rad.
Kind of liking this for skred red maybe... 5/5 for 5 and then next turn discard that extra koth or to deal damage to your boros reckoner for 4 or extra wolf for 5
It's fine. I might try this in my Sedris deck as a discard enabler. He'll be super sweet in four players, you declare an attack then discard some megafatty to off an offending planeswalker or whatever, then deal five.
It's quite solid, will likely be nuts in Limited and mehish in Standard?

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
It's a bit boring. The effect is cool, but I'd like to see some extra ability like Haste or even Skulk although it would be useless and/or not synergistic with its own special ability. Just something else to make this card hotter.
It was new with Fated Conflagration, but now a couple of other cards are doing it (see Brutal Expulsion for another example).

Who knows he might see play in constructed
