This card actually seems profoundly disappointing to me for a mythic. If the discard didn't come with a cost (so you could more easily bonus off of madness) or if it had "and draw a card" at the end, or maybe even the ability to hit players, it would be exciting. As it stands, bleh. This feels a half step above an intro pack rare like Flameblast Dragon.

This card could very well be good. He compares pretty nicely to Masticore, and not just as a Limited card. He's not a Stormbreath Dragon or a Thundermaw Hellkite, but he is surely good. He follows some of the high-end question mark things of the pure power and toughness of creatures without any drawback, which is nice. He could be ESPECIALLY good if everything that he does for you was usable. I think SO. Seems good. Zombify effect plus this, re-establishing Masticore position, plus Goblin Dark-Dwellers, plus GIANT boom-booms, that is definitely appealing.

"Warning: Um, warning. This is going to be a game state violation. And a taking extra turns and drawing extra cards violation, pretty much, a whole bunch of violations. Look at me, I'm the DCI."

This.
Very unexciting card. Would've been much more playable as a 4 drop, even if in 4/5 or 4/4 form. As it is I would rather play Reality Smasher straight up, or Thunderbreak Regent.
More madness enablers! Also for the people waiting to get a no-mana-cost enabler, I wouldn't hold my breath. MaRo's just posted about how they've had to be extra careful to balance Madness since it's a powerful mechanic, and the most direct way of doing so is making the discard outlets cost mana.

That sounds absolutely broken, ecspecially in this standard. A free damage loot attached to a 5/5 body? I still think it should have had a battle relevant ability like First Strike, or even haste, but this is a solid card no less. I think madness is going to see some solid support, like mentioned above with Fiery temper, you can clear a board with a play like that.

I tend to agree here. Seems like it would be fun in a casual madness deck but the activation cost plus the need to have a madness card in your hand really constricts its competitive usefulness.
Ooorray, another bad mythic... I'm really glad the good cards in this set are rares and uncommons. The only mythic that is really going to be chased so far is relentless zombie. That to me is not a problem, but design wise this card is bad, as others pointed out. The sorcery that turns into a creature is bad, but at least is flavorful and will se play in casual decks. This guy? I don't see it happening. Bin mythic rare.

Would you like to read Commander stories? Check my latest stories, coming from Lorwyn and Innistrad: Ghoulcaller Gisa and Doran, The Siege Tower! If you like my writing, ask me to write something for your commander as well!
5/5 for 5 with this ability is certainly not playable on constructed....
if it could hit player or at least had some ability such as haste or trample or really anything, then it could be different.
as is now, limited fodder.
pretty awesome in limited though.

Attack, pay 1R, discard Fiery Temper, pay the R madness cost, do 6 damage divided amongst up to two creatures sounds pretty nifty.

Seems very weak to be constructed playable (dies to removal and that), but it's a real powerhouse in limited.
Read my other stories as well (some ongoing):
Reaper King (a horror story), Kaalia of the Vast (an origin story), Sequels for Innistrad (Alternative sequels for Inn), Grey Areas (Odric's fanfic), Royal Succession (goblins),The Tracker's Message (eldrazi on Innistrad) and Ugin and his Eye (the end of OGW).
Doesn't feel very mythic....cool card though! I like how it can be any card. I was expecting a "discard a creature" restriction for some reason.
