Bums me out that they're replacing the guildgates with these
Oh, you sweet, sweet children. The Guildgates were an aberration. We've had these generic crap lands for a long time, starting back in Invasion, I believe. The just had place-specific names like "Urborg Volcano" so they're just gonna reprint em with new names for general use.
Basically, shrug and move on. These are the land equivalent of printing Pillarfield Ox again. Nothing to see here.

I meant in Duels. I've been playing Magic since '94, so please don't be so condescending.
My commander decks welcome all the duals they can get. I won't cry about switching a Mountain or Plains out for Stone Quarry.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Modern:
Affinity
Naya Burn
Merfolk
White Blue Midrange
Boggles
Grixis Delver
Esper Control(It's semi playable, believe it or not! Dont bring it to a tourny you care about winning though)
More average ETB tap lands. And yea it does seem like they've done away with the "gain 1 life" clause for these lands like we saw in khans, which is kinda sad. Confused as to why we're seeing these take up an uncommon slot now, probably for limited reasons not that that makes sense.
I think these lands were almost inevitable after the alliedversionswereintroducedin OGW. They're not really here for the sake of SoI - they're here just because R&D want them to exist. The rare cycle will be the relevant ones to wait to cast judgment on.
More uninteresting, underpowered lands. Yawn. Will they see play? Probably in Standard, and then never again. Seriously, the Khans duals were far better at common. If THESE are the ones they want to reprint set after set, they really must believe that basic mana fixing is too powerful. 18 years of experience, and they jst repritn [c]Coastal Tower[/card} cycle...

Cards are game pieces, and should be treated as such, easily replaceable.
Cards are not money, investments, or a retirement fund, and should never have been treated as such.
Wizards made a mistake caving to speculators once, and we still pay for that mistake 2 decades later.
"Entitled:" the entire ad hominem fallacy condensed into a single word. It doesn't strengthen your argument to attack motivations, it just makes you look like you don't understand the argument.

Ahh so much wrong with this post. You aren't recognizing the most basic facet of KTK/FRF limited -- the wedges. So many cards and archetypes were centered around being 3-colored. So you needed fixing, and you needed it often; and to avoid getting killed by faster decks because you're trying to assemble 3 colors on taplands, they needed something extra (the life gain). This cycle of lands are obviously worse than the commons and worse than the wedge cycle. However it doesn't do any good to point that out without the proper context...heck it barely even qualifies as an observation.
Also, these lands aren't going to be at all Standard-playable as long as BFZ/OGW manlands are still around.
Furthermore, the Coastal Tower cycle was allied, and this cycle is enemy.
This whole thread man...I've never seen so much complaining for Limited mana fixing. Like. Boohoo people.
I'm glad this cycle closed out with the enemy half. I'm sick of halftheC/Ulandcyclesbeingally-colorsonly. Even though most are pretty bad, having tools to toggle only half the color combinations really limits what's available for budget formats.
Also glad to see common/uncommon color fixing lands. I hope this becomes the standard in future sets.

If 3 color decks are going to exist (I have a feeling Grixis will...), these are playable, unless we get something decent at rare from SoI. The mana looks to be sooo slow post-rotation. Worst than 9-12 temple era (Evolving Wilds, Man-lands, Battle Lands, the 10 cycle ETBT duals, etc.) Literally all the fixing in standard will ETBT except later in the game with battle lands.

And you are missing the most basic point of my post in turn: these are BORING. Can you ever imagine anyone, anywhere, happy to pull one of these? Especially anyone who'd been playing long enough to get Khans ETBT + gain a life lands? They aren't even Limited filler, because as uncommons, you won't see them frequently and when you do, there's a good change you aren't playing those colors.
So, exactly who did they make thee cards for? They're terrible in Limited due to rarity, and they're bad everywhere else due to there being better options.

The allied ETBT lands were good in OGW drafts. Uncommons pop up a lot in limited, especially when it's a cycle.
theres nothing gained by having generic tap duals in limited instead of even the most slightly more powerful tap duals with some minor upside. Its not just that its boring, its poor design, or a total lack of design. Rather than come up with some clever new variation on the uncommon cycle of limited filler lands each block, they just phoned it in and vanillas now.

Huh if they were so terrible in limited you think they would have noticed that in their extensive play testing of that format. Or maybe as Tackman pointed out they worked just fine in OGW limited
There's nothing wrong with boring. In any set there are many boring cards. As Maro has repeatedly said, you need bad cards so you can tell what the good cards are. you need boring cards to know what's exciting.

so you dodged responding to me in one thread, just to reply to this one only to say "a-ha there are two threads on the same subject!"
I like these lands. Let the mechanics of the game carry its complexity. If you have three lines of text on every card you'll get bogged down in that and not in the actual play.

Otherwise, nothing exciting here. Except Foul Orchard's flavor text and Forsaken Sanctuary's art.
These lands are for limited intro decks and deck builder tool kits and that's perfectly fine.
As for being at uncommon. I'd rather see 3-5 in an entire draft at uncommon then 5-10 of them if they were at common.
If a set needs a lot of mana fixing at common that isn't Ravnica we'll see these at common it's that simple.
The tribes in the first innistrad were along Ally colours for the most part and it's most likely similar you don't want a lot of enemy fixing.

All things considered it would still be better than the mana fixing we had in many older standard formats.
