I just want to point out that the reason we've seen so much of Jace is simply down to core sets, you know those things that have been removed? That is the only reason, and hey Wizards is showing some constraint, Jace was all over the Battle for Zendikar block but we didn't see a card there, so let's be grateful for that.
But that's not true. He's a central character 2 blocks in a row and was the central character in the RTR block. No other planeswalker gets the sort of exposure Jace does. And no other planeswalker gets cards as powerful as Jace does. Jace has shaped standard several times and had to be banned from modern.
Well, Jace is apparently the most popular character.
It's also likely this is just a high point in exposure for Jace, and the power level of Jace cards is coincidental.
And your point is? He was the central character for RTR block, Elspeth was the central character for the Theros block, Sarkhan was the central character for the Tarkir block, these characters help tell the story and sell the sets. Yeah he was one of four central characters last block and will be one of the central characters this block. I doubt we'll see him again in the next block.

Keep in mind that Jace is just one out of the origin five that Wizards are pushing to be representative of their game.
Elspeth is dead and Sarkhan hadn't been seen in years. No other planeswalker gets the amount of exposure that Jace does and no other planeswalker gets cards as powerful. No other planeswalker has been banned, so Jace, the Living Guildpact is just a red herring.
I'd stake my reputation in it. Tamiyo will show up in the story but not get a card the same way Jace and Ugin did last block. If Tibalt shows up, which I find unlikely, it will be in a single UR and not in a card. Get over it ladies.
I feel that Tams is more likely to get in than Nahiri. Sure, Jace and Ugin were in the story but not in cards, but they also both had cards around a year ago. It's been a little more than a year since we last got a Nahiri card, and it's been FOUR since we got a Tamiyo card.
This thread is proof positive that people will debate anything if not given enough interesting spoilers at the beginning of spoiler season.

Honestly, Sorin should of the face of this set.... It's his plane, unless the story has a wide plot twist that involves Sorin I think it will be a huge oversight in WOTC's storytelling. Sorin could of been the guy investigating what is going on???? Or Tamiyo could of been of the investigating figure, if Nahiri isn't represented by a card I will be surprised.... but whatever the case if the cards are cool and fun to play I honestly don't care too much of the storyline......

I'd argue that, despite being a member of the newly-formed Gatewatch, he (and Chandra and Kiora and Ugin) played second fiddle to Gideon and Nissa, who were the main characters of the previous block.
Since Nahiri is garbage and Sorin probably not so good due to multiple good Sorin cards, the expectations are high for tomorrow !! \o/
Here's hoping Sorin finally has a vindicate like effect on him. And Nahiri is a role player. She isn't a Gideon-like finisher but it could be worse. It could be Ravnica Block gideon...

We're already getting an instant-speed Vindicate in the set so Sorin getting a Vindicate ability seems unlikely.

I'm just surprised the one black/white walker has yet to even get a remotely similar vindicate effect. A 5 mana sorin with a -whatever vindicate would be great assuming his + wasn't completely unusable.

It would definitely be cool and an easy way to make a new Sorin feel unique, but it probably won't happen. They'll probably change his color identity again before it happens.
I doubt that LD will be given to any PW outside of Ultimates.
Even if Sorin got Vindicate, it would have to cost at least the same as Vraska's second ability, which is a -3 on a 5CMC PW whose +1 doesn't do a whole lot.
What would you all suggest is a fair cost for Vindicate?
I am hoping for a radically different Sorin... something that could be a foil to Nahiri.

If he could go back to being mono black so we have some variety in our mono black walkers that would be nice. Considering we got Nixilis though, I doubt that's going to happen.
He's gonna have black and white in him. He exiled Avacyn and his turmoil in exiling his creation brings the white out of him.

+1 Put a 2/2 Vampire with lifelink or flying onto the battlefield.
-3 Exile target non-vampire creature
-7 Target opponent loses 20 life and you gain 20 life.

Black can feel grief, just look at Liliana and Josu. However, Sorin is undeniably the WB walker of the game now. Just like the Origins 5 are our primary representatives for each color, I'm sensing that Wizards wants to establish a representative for each color pair. Sorin as the face of WB is easily the most well-established by this point.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
For every format warping version of Jace, there is a mediocre at best Jace, such as Jace, the Living Guildpact
That's it, though. That's the only one, The Bad Jace, and it took them seven years to finally dream one up. Beleren got cast quite a bit (although, admittedly, a significant percentage of those casts were for the mode "target player sacrifices Mind Sculptor"), then it was Mind Sculptor, Memory Adept was a control finisher, Architect was good, and Vryn's Prodigy is two good cards. Not only has there been a Jace available in every possible standard format, THS-M15-KTK was the first standard format where he didn't find a home. That's why you don't see the same people complaining about Chandra: Pyromaster, Flamecaller, and Fire of Kaladesh on the fringes. And Pyromaster was obsoleted by a junky enchantment!(I tried so hard to make Firebrand work in INN-RTR...it just wasn't a card.)

Problem with pyromaster has always been she is a red midrange card, red has mostly been aggro. Chandra has done good in modern jund for example. Flamecaller is once again a midrangecard and midrange with red is now playable in standard, both mardu green and jeskai blue uses flamecaller as endtoper. The amount of heroes downfall also made people run outpost rather then chandra.
Pyromaster worked nicely in my Boros and Jeskai decks during the RTR-Theros Standard. I remember hitting Boros Charm and Warleader's Helix with her ultimate.

For every format warping version of Jace, there is a mediocre at best Jace, such as Jace, the Living Guildpact, but he's not the only borderline broken planeswalker, take a look at Liliana of the Veil, Dack Fayden and Karn Liberated.

Of course, I also ran Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Jace, Architect of Thought. Planeswalkers are pretty handy when you need to cast Supreme Verdict or Anger of the Gods.
