i love announcing announcements! hype train chuggachuggachoochoo!
...but no in all seriousness who gives a *****. its like them saying "we'll spoil cards!" and for some reason we're supposed to be hyped about something that... well they were already going to do. this is why their spoilers aren't as effective as they could be. its too much hype around announcing hype.
Except saying "I'm spoiling (card) on (date)" actually does a decent job of making leakers look like bad guys. It's one thing to leak cards that we know are 2-3 weeks away, it's another thing entirely to leak a card that we have an exact date on. If Sorin is leaked now, especially since LSV is previewing it (as opposed to someone who might not be known by the entire Magic community), it will be easy to sell the leaker as an a-hole who's trying to ruin LSV's fun (and CFB's site traffic).
If Sorin is leaked, I know I'll think twice about checking out the spoiler instead of waiting for LSV's article, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I have to applaud Wizards on their strategy with SOI spoilers; they're doing an excellent job of keeping our appetites sated leading up to the preview weeks so that leaks aren't our only source for goodies. I hope this becomes the new norm for previews and isn't a one-off thing for SOI's mystery-solving theme.
Flow: There's also a legal element to this. By announcing when certain things will be released--particularly on third-party sites that derive their value from traffic--if there should be a leak it would be easier to quantify loss in traffic in order to have a sustainable case in court.
They fight with angels, demons, vampires, zombies, humans, werewolfs, cultist - all evil (the entire set?)... And they survive. So I guess, invulnerable both, you cant win the game while they are on board.
Interesting that your problem is surviving Innistrad, and not Zendikar rife with Eldrazi.
Red-black Sorin would be very weird and bad.
Not that I don't want a RB planeswalker but Sorin's all personality is the opposite of "impulsive", he is the 'long term' guy of the story, and being immortal gives him a natural tendancy to be close to apathic.
Sorin has to be black or black-White, liliana means black-White.
I think he should be a different CMC this time, maybe 5 or 6.
6 CMC is good because they seem to balance these planeswalkers well (Elspeth, Sun's Champion, last Chandra ...) and we already have a Modern playable Sorin so this one does not have to be (even if Elspeth sees play in Modern so 6 is playable...).
Hopefully, one day Tibalt will become our RB walker.
Um, did you ever play against Elspeth? It has to be one of the most broken walkers ever to see print in Standard. The card dominated the meta that it was in and is a poster child, along with wallet slayer, of what not to do for planewalker power levels.
Arlinn (guaranteed in the set): A lot of people are assuming Arlinn Kord will be RG, based on the fact that she's a werewolf, both her backstory and the last Uncharted Realms doesn't support that claim. In my opinion she will more than likely be WG. Why? Because her story supports it, she saves two hunters from a demonic presence and warns them to leave, these hunters have killed other werewolves and if she was acting on instinct (like a red mage would) she would have killed them, but she shows to have some sense of control, something more aligned with white. Granted I may be wrong
I'm on the RGside. I think that's the best way to go for werewolves (and it's also a personal hope of mine for a RG modern playable PW ).
On a more objective approach, some guy on reddit did some magic with the photo and found out that the last mana symbol on the multicoloured DFC is G. https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/49day6/soi_mechanics_article_2nd_checklist_card/d0rcetr
If that's correct, it means that the other symbol can only be R and not W. As far as I know, there are no card with costs writen in the WGorder. All Selesnya cards have their costs writen GW.
I guess we'll find out on the 15th :D.

Sorin (guaranteed in the set): The last two iterations of Sorin have been fairly similar, and I doubt we'll get a mono black Sorin due to Liliana being the poster girl for Eldritch Moon. I don't want to see another WB Sorin, at least for a little while. Maybe something like a BR Sorin would be really cool! It will allow him to do differing abilities and it would make sense story wise. The vampires on Innistrad are predominantly BR, that plus the fact that Nahiri has come to his plane, destroyed Markov Manor and has killed the majority of his family (brood? swarm? I dunno what you call a collection of vampires) that plus what's happening with his plane would be more than enough to drive anyone mad. Also, he looks really angry in his booster pack art.
That ain't red magic in Sorin's left hand. It's not pure-white, but a mixture of white and black. Not to mention Sorin is a profound outcast among vampires on Innistrad; he tried to warn them about overhunting humans, and when they told him to fork off, he created Avacyn, giving the humans more than enough strength to fend against the vampires. He's been outed as a traitor to his kind ever since, not that he seems to care much.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
There are still things they can do with a WB 'walker that they haven't done with Sorin yet. Just because both of his WB cards are pretty samey doesn't mean a third one has to be. None of the Sorin cards have touched on the WB concept of balance. It could be something like
Sorin, Blah Blah Blah 3WB
{+1} Target creature gets -2/-2 until end of turn and another target creature gets +2/+2 until end up turn.
{-3} Search target opponent's library for a card and exile it. You gain life equal to its converted mana cost. Then that player shuffles his or her library.
{-8} You get an emblem with "Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control you may destroy target creature or enchantment an opponent controls."

Interesting concept! The first ability is more black-green, and the second feels pretty mono-black, but the twist on Aura Shards is super cool. And it could be a case where the color pie has similarities (like red white being able to do together what black can do alone).
On that balance subject, he could have a -X, target player loses X life, you gain X life. Or something akin to his original - ability. Target Player looses 10 life, you gain 10 life.
DO we know for sure that Arlinn is a planeswalker? MaRo has stated numerous times that his biggest regret in the original Innistrad was not making a RG Werewolf legend. So I'm pretty sure that this block provides us with exactly that. If Arlinn is a flip walker in the style of Garruk Relentless, I'm banking for a Werewolf legend in EMO, other wise i could see Arlinn simply being a fliping legend creature or a flipwalker in origins style.
EDIT: nevermind. 1 second with google told me Arlinn surely IS a walker.
What if Arlinn is a Flip Planeswalker with the strict text that says she can be your Commander such as Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath? That satisfies all needs/desires of the werewolf legend and planeswalker in one card?

I feel like the simplest solution would be to just print Tolovar, the pack leader who chose to stay in werewolf form all the time as a single faced legendary Werewolf, and not try shoehorning Arlin into the role.
Some people might well feel very cheated if they finally got a general, only for that general to be an (potentially) expensive and hard to get planeswalker.

Alright... I'll give a real response this time.
Would the {+1} ability require two targets in order to use it? The wording makes me feel like it would. Since it requires the first target to get reduced, and the second target to be boosted. That means (should I be reading it correctly) It requires two creatures to be out in order to be used. You wouldn't be able to plus the Sorin when it first enters occasionally.
The -8 seems fairly strong. It costs roughly what it would require for a Planeswalker that starts at four, and expects eight. I believe you could have made it stronger.
Disregard the next part. --- I read the ability wrong.
The second ability feels like its strong enough, but, has enough draw back that it could actually be a plus ability, or a zero ability. You're required to remove what I assume to be a strong card from your deck in order to gain life. While this can allow a lot of life gain, you're basically paying five for an unprotected Planeswalker to gain you life, and set your library back a card.
Edit: I still feel like the cost requirements could be reduced.
Edit: Read the second ability wrong. Opponents library. Whoops.

And anger alone doesn't make you red; just ask anyone who's ever ticked off a white mage and miraculously lived to tell the tale. Though divine retribution definitely slides into RW, which we're seeing a rather dark example of with Evilcyn.
