It could also be Death Wind. Or small chance Sorin learned Killing wave. They need to put some UR articles out already... the lack of story with awesome artwork is killing my Vorthos lol

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.
As much as i think about it, Liliana seems more and more out of place for this Block. Of course right now we are still in the dark storywise, with only one UR, but it looks to me as though Tamiyo or Tilbalt would be much more flavorful with all that moon stuff and madness going around.
One thing for sure though, Lili's social management team is way more professional that Tamiyo's, xD!
I don't buy this as real. Or if it is, it's been leaked WAY early. They literally JUST introduced Avacyn last night. Why would they immediately kill her in the storyline? It makes no sense, whatsoever. And it's amazing artwork, don't get me wrong, but the character forms look ALMOST a little too anime to be art selected by Wizards for a gothic-horror themed set. The art is just a little too... bright?
And on the subject of Nahiri - my theory is that she'll be the boogeyman in SoI, but she'll get an actual presence in Eldritch Moon. I'd almost go so far as to say she gets a Legendary creature card instead of a Planeswalker (considering how limited PW space they're working with), and it is revealed at some point that she lost her spark in all of the corruption she's built up around her. If they do go that way, they can make her a fairly powerful Ally creature, creating a slight bit of synergy with her former Plane.
Maybe that's the tinfoil hat in me running rampant.
Hmm so Tamiyo is alive and still in Innistrad. She's either not getting a card (since we know almost definitely that Jace will get a card) or she's not monoblue. Though, if she's in, it would almost make certain that Tibalt won't get a card.
Looks like my griefer prediction that we wouldn't see Tibalt this time has some traction...
Also, I'm pretty sure this isn't art for any card- it's way too wide for that.
Fatpack art, maybe? Playmat (please god, yes)?
Either way, it's incredible on many levels.

I think you're right. I'm sure we would have seen some Liliana by now or a quote from her. I could see her showing up after Eldritch Moon's conclusion asking what happened. She's tracked down her third demon, wanted to get some resources on Innistrad first, runs into Jace, and the two Planeswalk to the new world since we've had two recurring Planes in a row.
It'd be extra bonus points if we find out that the reason Nahiri is acting crazy is because The Raven Man is manipulating her too. That would be another good tie-in for Liliana to show up at the end of Eldritch Moon.
waaay too good for standard nowadays according to wotc, we all know that in reality. In other news, it's once again confirmed that, no matter how powerful a creature in magic is, a planeswalker can handle it without breaking a sweat. There's just no suspense in storytelling here, everyone is superman, overcoming any challenge thrown at them with ease. Poor avacyn, I hope there's still some hope left for the Angel of hope. Artwork is phenomenal imo, unreal even compared to the bfz trash.
Unless that planeswalker's name is Sarkhan. He spends the set that he's the face of on the run from Zurgo, is shown actively being dominated by him in the card art of Despise. Then he spends the next one grovelling at the feet of Yasova. But other than him, I totally agree. Seriously, how many vampires did Nahiri kill on Declaration in Stone?

So my guesses are, Jace Mono U, Sorin BW, Arlinn R/G possible Naya, and another mono U walker in Tamiyo?
That would be my guess too right now, except you know, that Lili being the face of the EM commercial promo...
Of course it may be Nahiri that ends up without a card in the end, trolling us all!

Is 6 walkers too many? I would honestly like to see Nahiri, maybe Sorin doesn't get a card?

Yes, I was thinking something like this
SOI:
Jace (U)
Sorin (WB)
Arlinn (RG, maybe Naya or any combination of those colors.)
EMN:
Nahiri (RW)
Tamiyo (U)
Liliana (B)
But I really want a BR Tibalt to be in eldritch moon but we're already filled to the brim with walkers. I can hope. Dammit, Liliana! You have no reason to be on Innistrad in the first place and now you're pushing Tibalt out of his spot in the set

Did you forget Putrefy being in RTR/THS standard, which saw near zero Standard play despite how generally useful it is?
Are we sure that's Avacyn? She doesn't appear to have Avacyn's trademark eyeliner or staff. Her face also isn't white like Avacyn's. Could just be the artist rendition but it also may be another angel. Do we have any confirmation it's her?

Yeah, that comment about Mortify being too strong for Standard
was specifically referring to RTR/Theros Standard,
where it was tested and determined to be too powerful against Theros' Enchantment stuff.
It's fine to print in most Standard environments, if a bit on the stronger side.
That said, this isn't card art, so I wouldn't think about it too much.
There probably will be a card depicting this, but I don't expect it on a lowly reprint like Unmake.
It will be on a splashy new Rare removal.

You may be right. It happened before in The New Phyrexian Block, this should be the right moment for history to repeat itself. It think Sorin is a given. If there are only 5 of them, Tamiyo is getting the short end of the stick 99% (mainly because of monoU).
I do hope that it is just a purification and not an Unmake myself. Avacyn is one of my favorite Angels from recent years. Killing her just 'cause they can is so... anti-climatic. I don't care if she and Sorin battled for a thousand days and nights before he brought her to heel, killing her just feels lazy and uninspired.
1. why do you just assume they would be killing her just "because". By that exact same perspective, wouldn't any death be just "because". If anything they are tying her death to the story, it's not like a Coen film where she gets killed off-screen, it seems very important story-wise.
2. It's stupid to say its lazy and uninspired since we have one friggin piece of artwork. You're love for the character has clearly biased you against anything negative happening to her.
To be honest a part of me thinks that Tamiyo and Jace are there to stop Sorin from killing her. Tamiyo even says in one of her entries that there is something more to Avacyn's madness and she has studied Avacyn's affect on the plane enough to know her function within the ecosystem and may want to restore her in order to save the plane. I have to say I am biased though and really hope they set Avacyn back on the right path by the end of the block. Maybe the angels' influence will be diminished on the plane and by the end of the block they are rogue demon hunters who are trying to set things right without the backing of the church. That way the balance would be more balanced rather than lopsided and both the fans of the angels and the gothic horror of the plane would be happy(which I am both).

YES sexy Jace and classy Tamiyo to the rescue as the heroes! From my perspective, I see them arriving to inform Sorin of Nahiri's machinations, sparing Avacyn. Then Sorin turns to confront Nahiri, pointing at Avacyn with his sword and saying to her "you will pay for what you have done to my angel."
Also, it's sad to think that neither Sorin nor Innistrad deserved this. Sorin went to find Ugin on Tarkir, and was then tasked to find Nahiri herself... They had Zendikar's fate at heart. But Nahiri wasn't playing any games that day.
You're love for the character has clearly biased you against anything negative happening to her.
Absolutely!
On the other hand, after seeing the mess of the Eldrazi Saga, I have little hope that the creative writing team working on the stories and character arcs will actually deliver anything meaningful or original. Avacyn going evil feels like just a complete cop out, and an utterly lazy way to tell a story without having to actually be original. Angels turning evil or going against their original instructions is nothing new in modern storytelling. Or old for that matter.
In my opinion it would have been far more original and interesting if Avacyn became a Planeswalker; the worship of the Humans igniting a Spark which gives her individuality and freedom from Sorin's commands. Free now to choose her own fate, an individual with her own aspirations and challenges. Does she stay and fight? Does she scorn the duty she was commanded with? Does she seek out her "Father" for guidance? Or turn against him? Or does she whisk away to the Blind Eternities for new realms to explore and save/destroy/enthrall? Does she herself as a godlike figure of whom worship and fealty are demanded? These are far more interesting stories to me than the "Angel turns evil!" story line that is so common and cliche in modern storytelling these days.
Of course, only time will tell how the Block pans out. And, of course again, these are only my opinions.
