Anyway, really excited about this character. It's super cool to have a werewolf walker (and I bet ShadowFenrir is going to be super happy). I'm hoping she'll be Naya as that's what her description points towards: RG for lycanthropy and W for being so deep into the clergy if the church and using Avacynian magic. This is a cool direction for a character. Also, her name just feels cool to say.
My only fear is that this is the only time we see this character ever or for decades. It is very, very likely that she will be a transforming planeswalker and that isn't something they can do in just any set. So she's a lot more limited than most planeswalkers.
Not necessarily; they mechanically represented Sarkhan's otherkin dragon complex as an animate ability; they could easily give her a 0 or + that turns her into a werewolf creature until end of turn that wouldn't require a flip.
In general, I'm digging Wolfmom. Seems like a cool character.
Art strikes me as red or red/white (it's said she was aligned with Goldnight...) oddly enough. Green always struck me as the main color for werewolves. She doesn't appear on the transform list card we've seen unless she's non legendary and/or unnamed pre-spark. But it would be really weird to go out their way to make a werewolf walker and then she doesn't transform!
Agreed on the White aspect. Her stated desire to protect her kin is a strong White streak. She sounds more G/W to me, with the reference to her "wild spirit". But there is certainly a lot of Red in every werewolf. Is 3-color too much?

They actually built an out to this in her bio: "The only way she could return to her human form was to planeswalk back to Innistrad, but now she finds that she can control the transformation, in both directions, with relative ease." The implication is that she's stuck in her wolf form when she's off of innistrad, letting them make single faced planeswalker cards for her then. It's actually a pretty clever solution, I think.

Also, nice to see that they got Sigourney Weaver to pose for the art

Also a planeswalker card shows them in them that one moment, so that also gives them more room to play with her designs as well.
As a fan of Sigourney Weaver I approve of that comment and demand thats is who plays Arlinn
Also guys, the filename for the image of her in werewolf form is "Embraced by the Moon" if that could possibly mean anything for anyone.
Could be what the flip side of her card name is, Arlinn, Embraced by the Moon?

I wouldn't be surprised if she took the oath during this block and joined up with the Gatewatch. She seems to be on the good guys' side in this story, and if she does join the Gatewatch, we'll be seeing a lot more of her, if not in planeswalker card form, then a plethora of other references for sure.

There were plenty of monogreen werewolves in Innistrad, so GW isn't that unlikely. In fact, when I re-read her bio, I could readily identify her white aspects and her green ones, but not her red ones (freedom, emotion, etc, were conspicuously absent).
The question remaining is:
if she and the 3 other missing DFCs are not in our leaked checklist: why?
It can't be rarity as there are not 4 mythics with that distribution and certainly more than 5 rares+mythics. Colors usually come before artifacts, even in gold so it's unlikely it's the reason...
I again point to the fact that the card says CH1 with the new tech I'm thinking there is a second checklist card with the Rare and mythic DFCs Arlinn will be on that one
What's to say she won't be a GW card on front, GR on back? They've done something like that before with Garruk Relentless, so...

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
I got more of a Lucy Lawless a la Xena vibe personally, but I see what you mean. Either way, it's nice to not have another "young woman because it makes money" trope/issue going on. I for one welcome our new wolfmom overlord.
It looks like planeswalkers igniting their spark upon transformation into non-human creatures is becoming more and more common in the multiverse. So perhaps there's still hope for a zombie walker that got Ghoulflesh'd before igniting his spark?
She doesn't have to be a Flip-Walker, couldn't she just have an ability like other walkers for example Gideon? +0 Turn into a Green Werewolf creature to attack?
Although I think that's unlikely, it is a possibility.... I'm still gonna bet she is a flip-walker....
If she does have white,
Maybe she'll be naya colours, it's not out of the realm of possibility?
Or G/W flipping into G/R, sorta like how Garruk grew a new colour.

This is what I meant about her possibly changing colors, though I expect, if that's the case, it to be WR human form to RG werewolf form. Her werewolf art has a notably more greenish tint than her normal art to imply that there is a color change as well. Speaking of, I love her normal human art but her werewolf art has to be one of the ones I dislike the most. It feels so... shaped and mushy. I guess. Is the feeling I get. Maybe less defined is the best way to put. Compared to a lot of the excellent werewolf art in the previous block. But like I said I love her human form art. Lots of personality.

there are 4 missing DFCs yes: 297-269=28 not 24. Ok.
Yet, out of 28 cards one should expect about 7 rares and mythics, not 4. And about 1 or 2 mythics, not 4 either.
I don't see any logic right now for the CH1/CH2 split...
I'm guessing 4 multicolor or 4 legendary/walker DFCs on the 2nd list card.
A new flip planeswalker? I'm excited. I'm assuming green/white or green/red.
Goldnight would imply white. There are three cards with "Goldnight" in their name, and all three are white. (Well, one's RW, but still...)
Anyway, this is interesting. Planeswalkers actually have a synergy with werewolves, if more werewolves were Constructed-viable. (Or even limited-viable, really, but that's beside the point.) You can 'cast a spell' without actually casting a spell.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Seeing as how the villains in this set so far point to the color white, like how heliod and elesh norn were, I get the feeling a Nahiri card may very well be mono white. It's not like wizards hasn't toyed with white getting the antagonist in the past. This leaves arlinn kord and Tibault to represent red. I think it's way to fast for us to just assume Nahiri has to be RW.
Ok so she HAS to be a flip-walker judging by the two artworks we got. But then does that also mean there's a second checklist card? Now looking closer at the spoiled checklist card, does it maybe say CH1/297 on the bottom left corner?
On a more personal note, I'm excited to see her albeit with some mixed feelings. Introducing her seems to diminish chances for Nahiri to be in this, does it not? Wotc is usually very conservative with female characters in their stories. Well **** it, the world needs more RG walkers.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Just a wild guess based upon her story, I am guessing she will be cast as a PW, but be able to flip into a creature at any time. She may even have a pseudo Sengir Vampire like ability that puts loyalty counters on her any time a creature dies ina turn where she damaged it. I think it would be quite flavorful.

Unless there's a second Checklist card, we're Out of luck of getting her in Shadows, but not for Eldrich. I personally think she's more RW or GW, but that's my opinion. She could also flip to different colors as mentioned above. We shall see. I'm sure she'll be fleshed out and in card form within the next 6 months.

One thing I thought was strange in her bio was that they made it a point to say she couldn't return to human form before planeswalking back to Innistrad (but afterwards gained the ability to transform at will though it didn't specify whether she could transform at any time on other planes). I don't know what the importance of that is, though. But it feels like something they wouldn't have put if it wasn't important. I guess maybe it could be some purely mechanical explanation for her showing up in a block that doesn't have transform but might still feature her in one form on a single-sided card in the future?
