I have it on good authority that the block after INS2.0 will take place on a plane with a large body of water. I don't know the name of it, but I am pretty sure it will start with a consonant.
But I find it unrealistic to expect two "black planes" in a row...
Personally, I think it would be cool to see Ancient Egypt as a white plane instead of a black plane. Making mummies White Zombies would probably be a closer match to actual Ancient Egyptian beliefs than the Hammer horror take.

If it's true, I'm down for a new plane. Egyptian themed, sounds interesting but it wouldn't be my first choice of a new plane. Happy to see Gods again, they were pretty cool from a design perspective. I really want a dedicated Steampunk/Technology based set, that doesn't include Phyrexians. Although I like high fantasy I've always been a sucker for sci-fi. I enjoyed Fallout more than the Elder Scrolls games even though I played the hell out of them both.
Returning to the massive city plane of Ravnica. I'm not excited about revisiting the plane, I'm an avid sneaker collector and its kinda the how I feel about Jordan/Nike retroes. They are cool but would rather see something new that catches my eye. I love the guilds and that design space but this trend WOTC is heading is kinda disappointing. Please come up with new worlds or at least come back to Dominaria...
But it really doesn't matter in the end, I'm going to play magic and I'm just happy that the game itself is still going strong. Hopefully Simic gets a cooler mechanic than evolve....... :/
I agree with the idea of Quests/Expeditions/Traps/Curses absent from BFZ being used in Egypt World. I would LOVE that!
Also hoping it is a self-contained set that does not have Planeswalkers. It'll be nice to see a plane in its natural setting where planeswalkers are not meddling around.
I'm actually kind of starting to hate planeswalkers. Specifically after Theros. I wanted to see Theros as a plane of big bad gods meddling around, and planeswalkers kept trying to steal the gods' thunder and it was obnoxious. They're not Oldwalker gods, yet they can mess with an entire plane? Ugh, I'd like a set free of all that nonsense.
If it does have PWs I would prefer they be like Tamiyo. Go there to learn of exotic magic and make discoveries, not turn the plane inside out like a Multiverse god.
Shoudn't this be in speculation since theres no proof from this person's statement?
Eitherway i would enjoy a Egyptian plane
This is a rumor mill forum. A rumor was spread elsewhere, and so we are discussing the rumor here. This is exactly what the rumor mill was created for. Baseless speculation is for you posting your own random theories. The person that made this claim said he had insider knowledge of it being true. Whether or not he was lying or not, is impossible to tell. With all of the leaks going on inside Wizards right now it is both very much worth listening to any potential leaks, and even more so not worth pressuring people to provide any sort of proof as they are risking legal action against themselves to leak for us. It has been the case in the past where leaks that were months old and ignored for lack of proof ended up being true and that leakers were heckled by members even of this very forum because they wouldn't provide "proof" and ended up stopping providing any info.
It's not inconceivable that, if there were an Egyptian themed block, it would somehow explain the birth/creation of the Eldrazi if they're trying to do story continuity.
We got it figured out. Follow the Marvel Universe movies lineup, and we'll get serial some copy-paste action from Wizards.
I heard there's an Egyptian mutant coming around the corner... And last year we had the Gatewatch Avengers movie...
God I'm having some serious deja vu here... I hope Creative gets flamed.. for being... un-creative.
I have to agree. Marvel is cool and all, and normally I don't dislike Rosewater's direction with the game and color pie philosophy other than the minor disagreement here and there, but I absolutely loathe this "Planeswalkers are Superheroes!" idea MaRo has obviously convinced creative to go towards. Sure, I could see the parallel before, but going into overdrive changing the entire story to focus on that aspect and Flanderising the game to try and ride the Marvel movie-wave that is going on right now has really been alienating me recently.

It's strange to me that the Magic community treats Mark Rosewater as the source of all Magic direction and decision-making. He certainly has an important job, and functions as a mouthpiece online, but if you think about the corporation you work for and compare it to Hasbro/WOTC, you'll realize that while he's one of the key roles, he's really only mid-high on the totem pole. He is by no means the source of most of these things we somehow attach to him.
That said, while it's easy to understand why some people don't like it creatively, the decision to give the Plainswalker the superhero treatment (and even create the cards in the first place) seems almost inevitable, from a business standpoint.
They aren't necessarily COPYING Marvel--they are just in the exact same boat as Marvel. Marvel succeeded, WOTC is trying to succeed.
WOTC had the most successful game property of all time-but when they attempted to license it, they realized it had almost NO transferable value to other companies. Why would a company pay a large amount of money to make a MTG lunchbox, or an MTG plush doll, a T-shirt for Wal-mart, when the only thing they are "buying" is a logo and a piece of generic fantasy dragon art? It gets even worse when you REALLY try to expand your property and make a movie. No studio is going to pay WOTC a million dollars for the right to slap their MTG logo on a movie with no flagship characters.
Making a successful, profitable card game is only going to be half of the battle for Hasbro. The other half is going to be in the licensing. And that's NOT counter to our interests as fans/players. If we want product dev, production, events, etc to continue growing (or even to be maintained), we need them to make that money.
(As an aside, Marvel was in the opposite position--they had a WEALTH of valuable IP to license, but publishing comics was no longer very lucrative at all. They had actually gone bankrupt at one point while they tried to vertically integrate and use toys to monetize their brand. Movies gave them the actual outlet to capitalize on their property. Publishing the comics at this point only serve to feed the license and as a pet passion for some.)
Anyway--that's what makes part of this latest rumor seem partly believable and partly not believable. Creating a standalone world right now, outside the continuing storyline, probably doesn't help them much. Returning to Ravnica already makes a TON of sense--along with the Plainswalkers, Ravnica, Innistrad, and maybe the Zendiker/Eldrazi themes seem to be what they are "packaging" to sell to other companies.
I can't believe I just typed all this. Must be Friday.

There was already a solution to that, as long as you didn't try to crush the entire lore of MtG down into a single movie. Magic: the Gathering as a whole might not have had iconic imagery to sell, but Ravnica does. Lorwyn does. Marvel hasn't just proved that "childish" worldbuilding sells big on the big screen, it also proved you could present a property on the big screen and use its breadth and not just it's length. Thor is not the sequel to Iron Man, but they're still part of the same franchise.
Introducing iconic Planeswalkers is still a good idea (except making Jace the face of Magic, that bit sucked), but it's not the only way to use the property.

Isn't that like the definition of speculation?
No. Speculation is the forming of a theory or conjecture without firm evidence. First, the source of this info has claimed to know that these statements are true. While not "firm evidence" by nature, this is much different than one saying they think it will be this way because of something like gut-instinct. Second, we are not conjecting anything here. We are discussing a pre-existing rumor that already existed online. Rumors going around, if you will. That is why this is the rumor mill. Considering the state of constant major leaks the game has been having recently, including Eternal Masters and Conspiracy 2 being leaked ahead of their announcement, essentially the major plot elements of SOI being leaked, the majority of Oath of the Gateway check being leaked, and so on, it is worth listening to any and all rumors at this point in time.
So the odds on this being real aren't high, but I would really like to see some Jackals in a Magic set eventually. Also maybe a Bastet or Sekhmet Planeswalker. Maybe some Egyptian Gods or Pyramid Traps.
Are there any Future Shifted cards with Egyptian or North-East African theming?

“Tell me who you walk with, and I'll tell you who you are.” Esmeralda Santiago Art is life itself.
So, in the original Zendikar block, I enjoyed telling people that they had activated my Trap card...
Hopefully this block is real so that I can do the same to Egyptian god cards...
Gonna be sending kids to the shadow realm for millennia to come.
I lol'd. Set desperately needs some banishing light or banisher priest in it. Traps would also make sense, namely mind-crush and "dark-energy-discs" that somehow kill a creature and send it to the shadow realm - in America.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Guys... Ravnica 2.0 was ~3 years ago from now. Yes, Rav 1 > 2 was 7 years, but returning to blocks wasn't established yet. This new returning trend, combined with two-block paradigm will cut that time in half at least.
Rav 3, according to these rumors, is due 1.25 years from now, making it over 4 years since the last Ravnica. If 4 years seems "quick" to you, then I don't know what to make of your sense of time.
Two-block paradigm means returning faster. Get used to it.
Honestly, Ravnica is the new Dominaria, and Jace is the new Urza. Sorry.
Dominaria had enough variety in it so that you didn't constantly revist the same themes and places. Ravnica is just the guilds, you can't go to Otaria or Jamuraa and get a completely different experience there.

That was pretty interesting. But dropping a warship on me is cheating. Take it back!

Yeah, but going to a radically different place on Dominaria might as well be its own plane. Formerly, the plot-relevant characters would travel a singular plane, so the plane had to have variety. But now that plot-relevant characters are planeswalkers, they travel multiple planes instead. It's easier creative management, since they don't have to worry about the warlords of Tarkir iteracting with Phyrexians or the Therosian Gods dealing with Lorwyn's phases (had they all been on one mega-plane).
Shoudn't this be in speculation since theres no proof from this person's statement?

Six blocks between first and second Ravnica blocks. Five blocks between second and third Ravnica blocks (if it's true). Not a big difference, but now we have two blocks per year...

i think that Egyptian plane is where Ashiok originated from, for some reason.

Maybe at Wizards somebody was thinking the same thing. I wouldn't be surprised if they went a head and did it anyway.
