Maybe I'm just paranoid about that @Vendorleaks thing but should we pay attention to this a bit more? Ben Bleiweiss was pointed out in a pretty big capacity back there and now SCG is offloading the very kind of staples that may be getting reprinting soon, with no real reason to do so (no big holiday, etc.) - is this just SCG hedging their bets and "getting out" of a couple staples knowing the market will be less solid soon, or is it maybe possible they actually do know something?
And yes, I know there's reserved list cards on their sale, but I'm moreso talking about the non-reserved stuff. Any chance? Or have all the conspiracies gotten to me?
Well considering that SCG has been stepping away from Legacy (and they were never really supporting Vintage) since last year, I'd say that ya, it's likely that they are off loading a lot of their stock.
What I've been thinking about for a while now is that SCG will stop supporting legacy, have the market respond by lowering the worth of the cards, then they will buy them back and support legacy again so that they can resale at a profit. It's a long term plan that I don't think is entirely unreasonable. As a matter of fact, this might have been helped by the idea that they have known that eternal masters was in the works and wanted to get ahead in the game.
They already had same cards on sale for a month before New Year. So it's not much of a sale if they keep repeating same trick every few months...

I have divined your fate. You shall find your nemesis, a catastrophic clash. Devastation, misery for all, the unleashing of horrible curses and ferocious powers. Ruin, such ruin that I dream each night of blessed peace, assured that the universe is in balance once more...
I was excited to see that they were having an eternal sale but became disappointed after seeing that nearly every one of the cards on sale was a foil, Alpha edition staple, or other some other "pimp" card.
There dumping played garbage or just stuff they have large quantities of. The real expensive duals and power are mint, but alot of the rest is MP. I bet they usually unload a ton of that played stuff at their Eternal weekend opens, but since they've all but dropped that they're probably sitting on tons of it. I wouldn't read to much into it.
I'd care that SCG were having a sale if their sale prices weren't usually still higher than what I can find on TCGPlayer or eBay. Anyway, they have sales all the time.
Who wouldn't hold a sale after a reprint set is announced? It shocks me that no one has brought this up yet- They don't have insider information, they just know that reprintings are about to happen and what to capitalize on their cards before prices dip.
Think-- if you owned a bunch of legacy staples, wouldn't you be trying to sell as well now? They are playing perfectly fair in the market place.

Or we have the same thing that happened with Modern after Modern Masters and the prices shoot up after the set is released, after an initial dip. Even with that though there really isn't some insidious thing going on here, many stores have sales during the tax refund season, and this is one of them.

Huh, no kidding, that's an interesting idea. This whole Eternal Masters thing has had me realizing a lot of stuff I never noticed about the current state of legacy.
Black-bordered duals are on sale, it's clearly not a Sinister Insider Information Sale to ditch the cards that are getting reprinted.
...although I'm pretty sure SOME of those cards are getting reprinted.

But that is why it would be genius! Hey if we throw these reserve list cards and some duals on sale No one can rightly accuse us when everything else we sell is being reprinted, no one can accuse us of knowing before hand because we also sold stuff that could not be reprinted,
Let the conspiracy live! hehehe.
