Reprinting things doesn't devalue the brand. Maybe your cards, but if more people are playing the game because it's affordable, the better off the company will be.

That, and if reprinted, the cards will generate more interest in the formats, which will in turn keep their value, possibly even more than it was before the reprint. This has happened before.
I'm sorry you've had a relatively rough go of things educationally and professionally, but you're a perfect example of somebody who can only afford the Honda, but wants the BMW. BMW doesn't make cars for you, nor do they care about making cars you can afford. WotC doesn't make cards for you, nor do they care about making cards you can afford... because you aren't their target market. Being emotionally invested into the storyline doesn't give you a right to buy the cards, you can follow the story just fine without them, so I don't want to hear that. Now, it's not your fault per se that you cannot afford to play MTG, and you are a victim of circumstance, but life isn't fair. It's tough, and it sucks for you, but you aren't nor will you likely ever be MTG's target market.
First off, your analogy that Legacy is a BMW is off. Keep in mind, the biggest problem with Magic right now is the reserved list. That's what's causing all of the pricing problems, and it's really easy to fix. I've been playing Magic off and on since 97' and remember when Legacy and Vintage were just being created as formats. Dual lands and many of the staples you are referring to were affordable then, and even later on, from 2000-2010. You could obtain a full play-set of dual lands for about 1K. Most duals were about $25 each, and some above that, but in general it was affordable. So Legacy was essentially the Honda you are talking about now. That's the problem. Imagine if a car was always affordable to you for years and then suddenly is posing as a luxury car despite not a single change happening to the car. That's what has happened to Legacy. Vintage is a different beast, because THAT is the format that is more like the BMW, not Legacy. Legacy was created as a cheaper format for those who couldn't or didn't want to buy power 9. Also, please stop with the elitist nonsense. Wizards' target audience are people who are interested in TCG's and strategy, as well as those who like to collect. It isn't targeting people who make good money. The game would never survive if that was the case.
Maybe a better analogy would be a '67 Corvette or Mustang? In the 80's those cars were inexpensive. Nowadays, one in good condition will cost you an arm and a leg.
These discussions are skirting dangerously close to the reserved list discussion. There's already a very long thread there..
Question is, what's on the Reserved List that people would want, besides the Power Nine (which I don't think ANYONE is expecting to see back, Reserved List or no...Well, maybe Timetwister)? No, that's not rhetorical; I'm just not coming up with much offhand. (Except Scarwood Bandits, but I'm probably in a marked minority there.)
Are you serious? Gee, I don't know... Dual lands perhaps!!!!!

She's like $30. I'd buy one and be done. Not a huge supply issue.
Tokens would be nice tho.

I was thinking about how they could make Eternal Masters as impactful as possible on Legacy, and I came up with this idea.
For every color, they could print a bunch of staples for a mono-colored legacy deck, so that people who buy Eternal Masters product, who don't own (m)any legacy cards yet, can start building a legacy deck that doesn't need dual lands.
So they could do for example:
-Black: Pox (Pox, Sinkhole, Hymn to Tourach, Urborg TOY, Mishra's Factory, Thoughtseize ...)
-Blue: Merfolk
-Green: Elves (Natural Order, Glimpse of Nature) Unfortunately Gaea's Cradle is out of the question.
-White: Death and Taxes (mostly Aether Vial and the lands...)
-Red: Burn

Seriously, I want every card that's on that list that isn't broken and expensive, for nostalgia. The should have added FoW, Mana Drain, and other expensive powerful cards to the reserve list, and take off cards like Grandmother Sengir
And this is where I disagree with a lot of people. Cards that are on the reserve list that aren't worth much should be just left alone. Anyone who wants them can get them . I would rather they spend time making new cards, which I might care about. Frankly I wish thy used eternal masters and modern masters to print new cards for those formats.

They probably could have gotten away with it for eternal masters, but I think in order for a card to be modern legal it has to spend some time in standard.

Well, and Duals, obviously.
Putting FoW and Mana Drain on the list would be a mistake.

Not to mention I'm sure they won't have two mythic counterspells in the set. If Mana Drain was in the set it would definitely be the mythic one rather than Force of Will, which really should only have been a rare.
People are going nuts over the possibilities for rares and mythic rares but at $10 a pop I want a lot of uncommons bumped to common for it to be worth my money. And some "crap" rares that have never seen modern framing to go to uncommon. Because buying a booster for $10 only for the possibility of what the rare or mythic could be is the definition of gambling, basically. I wanna be able to buy a box and get my money's worth - at least. Hell, even gimme cards like Oubliette at common or something like that. I hope this set isn't made for drafting but so that eternal format players can get the things they need (Legacy, Vintage, and Commander). They're already gonna make a draftable set (Conspiracy 2) and we just went through Modern Masters 2 which was designed for draft. I'm not rich to draft a $10 booster set. I want this to be made so that those cards that should've gotten reprinted so many times at so many missed opportunities finally do so. And if they don't print stuff like Karakas, Mana Drain, Imperial Seal, Mana Crypt, and the like and the set bombs because of it, maybe they'll learn their lesson and do so in an Eternal Masters 2 set. But, hopefully, it won't come to that.

It wouldn't be difficult to change it for modern. All they'd have to do is add a line saying that modern masters is legal too. The real problem might be the limited print run. Anything they printed at a high enough power level to be modern playable would have to be printed in really high quantity to not be absurd like fetch/shock prices early in the format's life.
Here's hoping that we get some decent reprints for pauper. The last few years have seen many commons becoming rather expensive. Some of the older ones include:
There are many good or even decent commons and uncommons that they can fill the set with. There really is no excuse for printing total jank, especially for $10 a pack. Knowing WOTC though I fully expect to see stuff like Security Detail, Sandbar Merfolk, Molting Harpy, Flowstone Wall, Mungha Wurm, Braidwood Cup Because.....It's for limited.

As a reminder, this is not the thread to discuss the Reserved List. The announcement was very clear that nothing was changing in that regard, and so it is off-topic for this thread. Please keep all Reserved List discussion to the Official Thread. Any future discussion of the Reserved List in this thread will be penalized as spam.
Thanks.

I feel like one of, but not both Inquisition of Kozilek and Cabal Therapy will be reprinted in the set, though I'm leaning towards IoK unless they decide to have a slight focus on flashback in the set.
I doubt we will get Inquisition of Kozilek since that will probably be MM3 and Cabal Therapy just makes so much sense in the set though maybe they will have a discard theme archetype with Hymn to Tourach and some of the punishing artifacts.
I actually forgot about Hymn. That would be another stellar addition that wouldn't damage the secondary market at all with a reprint, and would be the first way to get a foil version outside of the FTV set.

This isn't bad, though Thoughtseize, Æther Vial, and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth probably won't be on the final list because they were reprinted recently. I would like to see Natural Order, though. Red could get a Chain Lightning reprint.
it seems that its been so long without anything but we probably just got the announcement early
I think for reprint sets we only get two weeks of spoilers, so between early and mid May we'll start seeing more.

I would love if there was a new art Daze.
And for that matter, I would love if there was a new art Spell Pierce, finally. I refuse to buy foils when the art looks like a hot mess.
