But I'll say that gatherer is possibly the best tool you can have for specific cards. My only problems are that 1) they don't have a deckbuilder interface where you can drag/shortlist cards, and 2) I want to search particular cards with specific costs and mana symbols (in some text as well) and I'm not able to.
eh, i stopped checking it because when they changed the format it became trash to navigate and look at, not because of a lack of content. maybe fix that before trying to 'fix' content. feels like wotc once again blaming a decline or increase in something on the wrong thing.
edit: oh and hey. maybe stop giving spoilers to third parties. yeah. that might generate some traffic, and stop leaks at the same time. you know, keeping the spoilers exclusive to the official mtg page. i mean, i've noticed other sites get more interesting spoilers, and more than the official page too... so what purpose would anyone have to go there even during spoiler season? just an idea here guys.
"Official Magic Lore" is sorta a terrible renaming of Uncharted Realms. Just needs to be said.
Not really. It's simple and understandable, and actually described what it is.
Right, which is why I loved that book "Tolken's Lore about Rings of Power." and I really can't help but dig american classic "Official story about a girl's lawyer father defends African Americans."
"Official Magic Lore"...as opposed to that unofficial magic lore? To me, it honestly sounds like a joke name I would've seen on the boards if they were going to change Uncharted Realm's name

I used to use gatherer, now I just use magiccards cause they not only have the regular arts but promos aswell. Also There advanced search is the best so far.
I pretty much use mtgassist.com for all of my searching. It's like a Gatherer that gives updated card prices and extra search options to top it off. It's the best magic card search I've found. I highly recommend it!
As for the changes to the mothership. Not a fan of the logic behind it, but I'll see how it rolls out over time. Kind of pessimistic about it seeing as how the site has devolved over the last couple of years.

I was thinking in my own mind that WOTC should stop making garbage Arcanas, but now they stuffed all the good stuff into a pile of garbage.
Usually when the intro pack decklists are released, there is usually a thread made about it immediately. Not today though. It took a while for a thread about the intro pack decklists to pop up. Why? The decklists are hidden in the nether regions of the mother site, buried under heaps of, IMO, garbage information that I personally don't care about. I think the Daily Magic Update is a step down to the arcanas.
Instead of having a weekly article catering to a specific type of player, they now, from what I read, place all the articles into one articles, so the reader has to find the relevant information.
Another thing about the Daily Magic Update. The article does not appear right when the other articles of the day appear. They appear later. Not only that, in newspapers, the important articles are usually put in the front page, while the lesser ones are put in the back. Not Daily Magic Update. To me, from what I see, some things that are not as important as others are put before the more important information.
As I said in the intro pack decklist thread, the decklists are hidden in the daily magic update article, and you have to scroll all the way down, rather than being its own feature article.
The content could be the absolute nuts, but I still wouldn't be interested, as I find the website design simply too disfunctional/annoying/slow. "Gameplay over graphics" is a thing when it comes to websites too, apparently. Or rather, it should be.
QFT. I try to keep up with UR, and on occasion I go the their site before I check here for spoilers, but I've had articles just plain not show up for me so that when I am looking for previews so that I miss them until someone posts them mid thread here. Their site is quite honestly the worst I've ever used, and that includes a bunch of terrible geocities pages from the '90s whose side effects included dizziness, vomiting and ocular bleeding, but you could (if you could tolerate looking at them) find what you were looking for reliably as long as the links weren't broken. It has been a long time since I checked the mothership daily, but since they changed the layout to the unnavigable mess that it is now, I've actively avoided outside of reading UR articles or following direct links that someone else dug up.
BTW- for any WotC employees that might be reading this you should know that it is a huge failure that it is infinitely easier to find what I'm looking for on your website through a google search than from your home page.

No, it is terrible branding that would be better expressed as a subtitle. "Uncharted Realms- Your place for official Magic lore" Might be a mouthful, but it both brands the product uniquely and gives you a much easier to say title when discussing it which is again, good branding. It also serves the same indexing features for someone trying to search for magic lore (I would rather use stories as I don't believe the average person searches for "lore", but I haven't done the research to be sure of that).

Daily magic update is like a messy room. You know the information you want is there, but you have to sift through garbage to get to it.
