Yeah the names in this set are a little off. Gift of Tusks sounds like a card that you would draw cards equal to the number of Beast, Elephant and Wolf creatures you control or something like that.

"The essence of every world, every spell and every thought is power. Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists."
So if this is used on an awakened land, the land would get +3/+3 - but at the end of the turn would it turn back into a normal land, not an awakened land?
I'm pretty sure it stays as an awakened land.
Awaken just turns a land into a 0/0 creature, it doesn't staple an ability onto the land to say "this is a creature".

Since when do wolves have tusks. Are you for real right now.
An elephant never forgets....to kill!
But seriously this is almost exclusively for fighting giant eldrazi who have indestructible, so an effect like Rapid Hybridization wouldn't even affect an eldrazi like ulamog.
This is a terrible card. It has the worst aspects of pongify (3/3 creature) and turn to frog (until end of turn). Why couldn't this just be another take on pongify? The worst part about this is that its a higher rarity than Turn to frog, so it literally has no excuse to be a worse card. God I hate this new underpowered standard where spells are nerfed and held in high rarities. WHere is my cancels or my searing spears?
Also, why do people keep thinking that power fluctuation among cards and sets is a bad thing? This is necessary to smoothe out the limited format and set different tones for different environments. Having access to Cancels and Lightning Strikes in every set would get boring really fast. This card was made for limited.
Interestingly, people complaning about underpowered cards are the ones crying "power creep" whenever a strictly better card is printed at same rarity.
The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
When I read the name I could have bet my life savings that this would be a green card. I'm still under the impression that green should be allowed Turn to Frog effects but that's besides the point.
Still, this is a fun card with great flavor text.

Power level aside, I like this kind of design far better than Pongify for blue. Destroying the original creature seemed like too much of a stretch when the flavor was supposed to represent a change.
I love this aspect of Magic. Wizards zapping each other into different animals is a very old trope, and the game could use a bit of this humor.
I just wish somebody would do a squirrel version for Maro...
Shoot, I wish Maro would make a squirrel version for Maro!
Effects like this are probably one of the only ways we could expect squirrels to show up under the current creative team, and even then its probably doubtful. Which is sad

A nice alternative to Turn to Frog. I like how I can also use it to make a merfolk or bird token into a vanilla 3/3.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

It's a little strange, but it does make sense. The target creature has been given tusks. By you.
Since when do wolves have tusks. Are you for real right now.
Actually tusked wolves would be pretty sick.
But seriously this is almost exclusively for fighting giant eldrazi who have indestructible, so an effect like Rapid Hybridization wouldn't even affect an eldrazi like ulamog.
No, this is a different card. Pongify and Rapid Hybridization are removal spells, while Gift of Tusks is a combat trick. It makes their Kozilek, the Great Distortion or indestructible fatties very blockable indeed. Think of this more like Turn of Turn // Burn.

UR Mizzix of the Izmagnus ~~~ Build your own win-condition: Finite Spellslinging
UR Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer ~~~ We are the Borg. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own.
WUB Oloro, Ageless Ascetic ~~~ A Guide to dying slowly
UBR Marchesa, the Black Rose ~~~ Marchesa's undying Marionettes
RGW Mayael the Anima ~~~ All Hail the Big Chungus
GWU Chulane, Teller of Tales ~~~ Permanents Only ETB Shenanigans
BGU Sidisi, Brood Tyrant ~~~ Sidisi's Restless Servants
WUBRG The Ur-Dragon ~~~ Dragons eat your face
Nice card btw. More possible tricks out of it than it's predecessors.
I can see a lot of Fortified Ramparts eating 2/3s in Limited with this card.

Did not expect this to be a blue card when I saw the thread title. I can see some limited and casual potential here.
Still, this is a fun card with great flavor text.
