Standard is trying to financially break me with Oath of Gideon. I realized Superfriends was gonna be a thing for the BFZ block, but I didn't think it'd be pushed THIS HARD! I had to sell a few of my older Modern and Legacy cards to afford playing Standard when BFZ was first released (4C Rally), so I didn't even pick up any Gideon, Ally of Zendikars. Big mistake.
Why are Refuges suddenly OP? They were downgraded to COMMONS in Khans block, now we get uncommon ETB tapped duals with no bonus effect? I just don't understand the logic.
Because Khans needed a lot of color fixing at common for the limited environment to work. OGW is the opposite, it needs a lot of colorless lands at common for the "colorless matters" cards, so the fixers needed to be moved to uncommon.
I'm fine with them being at uncommon but I don't get why they couldn't have at least made them more interesting than new versions of the Coastal Tower cycle, which hasn't been relevant in like a decade.
Oath of Gideon is probably gonig to be very solid, it works witht he flipwalkers as well as normal walkers. Still think Nissa'a might be better, though.
The taplands are, well, strictly worse at a higher rarity than the lands we got just a year and a half ago. They're a functional reprint of the Coastal Tower cycle from Invasion, and a straight downgrade from the original Zendikar's uncommon cycle of Refuges. Is this really the best they could do, even for Limited? They should have at least reprinted the Refuges if they absolutely had to make ETBT uncommon duals. it just feels like a waste of everyone's time to put these into a set in 2016.
What do you mean by "best they can do"? If the point of the cards is to make your mana slightly better but not encourage three color decks, why do they need to reward you more than that? Waste of everyone's time? Do you actually open a pack in limited and see mana fixing and roll your eyes? Like, "Oh man, Evolving Wilds. Like I needed another one of those!".
By "best they can do" I mean, "are these lands what we need in Limited and Standard?" and I don't think they are. At uncommon, they're something you can't count on in Limited, and even then, ETBT with no upside means that most of the time, you'd rather draw an untapped basic than these. Uncommon bad mana-fixing means they'll be only marginally useful in Limited. In Constructed, it's even worse: there's absolutely no reason to play these over the Battlelands, which at least have a chance of coming into play untapped, to say nothing of the fetches and the utility they provide. For the next few months, these are even outclasses by the COMMON lands in Khans that ETBT and gain you a life when they do.
In short, they're useless in Constructed (outclassed by 2 other cycles in Standard, by more than that anywhere else) and not really relevant in Limited (Not good enough to support 3-color, 2-color won't have the ones they want most of the time.)

Cards are game pieces, and should be treated as such, easily replaceable.
Cards are not money, investments, or a retirement fund, and should never have been treated as such.
Wizards made a mistake caving to speculators once, and we still pay for that mistake 2 decades later.
"Entitled:" the entire ad hominem fallacy condensed into a single word. It doesn't strengthen your argument to attack motivations, it just makes you look like you don't understand the argument.
It's more that they wanted a cycle of Taplands that didn't have the flavor implications of Urborg Volcano, Shivan Oasis, and Elfhame Palace, and figured "hey, a land matters block is as good a place as any". It is puzzling that we're only getting allied taplands in OTG, but perhaps SOI will include a complimentary enemy cycle.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
The art for Kozilek's Return just looks wrong. It reminds me of a bad custom Magic card where the creator simply picked an art on the Internet that was obviously never meant to go on a card and did a quick crop to make it fit. It doesn't look like Kozilek is blowing up the world, more like he's leaning forward to pick up his wallet or something.

Actually, it looks like he's slamming his tentacles on the ground. Like a war cry when you wanna signify your presence/return. He was already out by then and maybe those tentacles need warming up.
Looks like the Eldrazi really are doing a number on Zendikar's mana considering how bad the remaining lands there are these days.
At least these have great art tho.
