So adding 1 mana to Pawn of Ulamog in exchange for a less restrictive mana cost, better tokens and decent casting costs causes an upshift to rare. Huh.

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
A bigger Pawn of Ulamog with better tokens and less color intensive and doesn't make the token if it dies. Probably won't be expensive at all but I like it enough if I decide to put my Xiahou Dun EDH back together.

I like the stats, seems cool with smothering abomination, even though they occupy the same mana slot.

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
Neat card. Will make me question my mastery (or not of English), as I don't understand then why Catacomb Sifter couldn't have been called Sifter of Catacombs
hmmm hard to say, abomination having flying is pretty awesome. And a decent number of sacrifice triggers usually comes from tokens...
I kinda wish this guy was a 3/2 for 3 mana instead so that you could curve one into the other, but oh well

Maybe because he's not a "sifter of catacombs", just a "sifter from catacombs"? Not much of a difference, but that's how I'd interpret it. I'm not a native though, so.
Do you think this guy sifts THROUGH skulls, or inside of skulls? Are those even skulls in the art? They look like rocks. Or white frisbees sorta? HOW AND WHY ARE ALL YOU ELDRAZI SIFTIN SO MUCH?? the mystery deepens

good card for rally decks I think? the art is cool, but faceplates of ula's brood are skulls? who made the pile of them? why sift through it? why not sift through zendikari skulls? all important questions which will likely go unanswered.
Yep, I follow you lol
I was kinda off on a tangent about what the heck these two creatures are sifting. Sorry for the confusion. Not sure why I quoted now that I look back...awkward.
I mostly think its kinda funny to have two semi-similar names for these two guys when other Eldrazi have such awesome names. 'butcher of truth' and 'endbringer' are pretty awesome, compared to these guys that sift in/around/through dead bodies.
EDIT: o wait, are those Ulamog lineage head pieces he is on top of in this art? I cant really tell.

Sick of all these "effect x when a creature YOU control dies." Would this have been overpowered if it produced tokens when anybody's creatures kicked the bucket? It even makes more sense that it sifts the skulls of your opponent's minions.

Yes, I think that might have been too good. Sorry. That certainly would be more exciting though.
I also think they are trying to limit it because its less triggers for people to miss and then have to back the game up to accommodate. Its easier to manage when its just your own creatures, plus they can push the stats-cost ratio more.

the difference between 1/1 and 0/1 is pretty significant to be fair not to mention the synergy with devoid

If Eldrazi can be strong enough in maybe RB or RBU then this could work as a way to bust Ulamog out in Standard sooner.
