Linvala, the Preserver4WW Legendary Creature - Angel (M)
Flying
When ~ enters the battlefield, if an opponent has more life than you, you gain 5 life.
When ~ enters the battlefield, if an opponent controls more creatures than you, put a 3/3 white Angel creature token with flying onto the battlefield.
We're unfortunately not going to see any flicker effects until Fate Reforged rotates because of Manifest, but could be very good with a Cloudshift-type effect (Restoration Angel reprint in SOI?)
If UWx control sans dragons becomes a thing, I could see this finding a nice home there.

Restoration Angel specifies non-angel, though I would welcome the reprint regardless.
This is a really interesting card for a control deck. You'll probably have less life than your opponent, and the chances of you having less creatures is also much higher. And a 6 mana 5/5 flier that gains 5 life and makes another flying 3/3 token when it enters the battlefield is extremely powerful. She gets better when you're behind and worse when you're ahead, but that's much better than the opposite. When you need her, she's excellent, and when you don't need her as much, you can either cast her anyways if you just want the flier, or you can wait until you fall behind and then she shows up and saves you. She also blocks and kills Tasigur and Siege Rhino and trades with Dragonlord Ojutai, so those are all important aspects of the card.
Thank god her limitations are what they are, so that she's basically relegated to control and she isn't as appetizing to midrange decks that want her for value.
She's not the most interesting card in the world, but she's definitely powerful. I'd be pretty shocked if she didn't see play.
If you're not going the Dragons route with control, she seems great. And even if you are, I could see squeezing in a singleton or two, as nothing else in standard has the stabilizing power that she does.
Timely Reinforcements on a big body? I mean I can see how its good with flicker but other than that if you're ahead its just a blank body like Cerulean Sphinx. Even if she hits everything, she's just 8 air power and 5 life for 6 mana which is just borderline playable I guess, you don't have to be as efficient as thragtusk to make it in a weak meta. I'd say she's heavily dependent on seeing flickers in SOI, so even if she doesn't see much play until then she might have a plausible chance, but honestly, she's still not anything like thragtusk as a flicker target either since her abilities are conditional and more expensive and harder to splash. Probably the best things she has going for her are the 5/5 flying body stacking up well against the usual characters in standard right now like rhino and tasigur as said above.

Maybe a one-of in standard, but seems like EDH fodder.
Really? She isn't that good in EDH where your 6 drop can be insane bombs not meh stabilizers. And what deck wants this as a commander.... mono-w, life gain, tokens? Better options out there.
The Timely Reinforcements clause is fine, seeing that Thragtusk was running rampant without it, but converting the "leaves the battlefield" to "enters the battlefield" really takes a lot of resiliency out of the card.
The art is stellar though, definitely playmat material. I'd be surprised if no event uses it as their playmat in the future.

Man, that's a creature that can bring you back from a almost lost game... Obviously, its not the better card for modern, but for Limited and Standard, its really good.

Esper EDH, Attrition + Deadeye Navigator.
Wait so pay 6 mana for DEN then expect a full turn before (or in response) of you casting Linvala in which you need 9 mana (6 (Linvala) + 2 (for DEN) + 1 (for attrition)).... Sure...

You don't have to cast her to get her trigger.

At least this one is a little interesting. I could see its use in blink decks.
If UWx control sans dragons becomes a thing, I could see this finding a nice home there.
EDIT: Yeah, doesn't work with Resto Angel.

Nobody with at least half a brain would expect Linvala being straight-out reprinted in this block...
Card is OK. As someone said, this is basically fixed Thragtusk

Its.... ok but man.... how boring. Her original flavor was way more fun (and by fun I mean the flavor not the actual game interaction lol)
The one upside I will say though is that its got nice art.

She isn't bad but not exciting either

My thoughts exactly. What a terribly boring card.
